Chapter 47
"I...I have no idea where she is!" Alicia immediately started to lie, intense fear has gripped her by now, and she was scared that Damian would take her back to his residence and throw her in the dungeon to torture her!

She had heard rumours that none of the people who ever walked into Damian's dungeon managed to make it back alive, and Alicia didn't want to lose her life! 

Alicia's father, seeing how much his daughter was shaking, decided to step in and protect her, "baron, I understand that you're sad about the baroness going missing but you can't blame my daughter for this. She was there to accompany her as a friend! There is no evidence that Alicia did something to her!" Judan spoke up for Alicia. 

Damian sneered, and he let go of Alicia's chin, pushing herself roughly to the side as he did so, his cold dark eyes landed on Judan and the man could not help but swallow a gulp when he saw the way Damian was looking at him. 

"Do you think that I need evidence?" Damian sneered at him, "if I say that Alicia is the one who did it, then no one can save her!" 

Damian was not a fool, he knew that Althea has been trying to escape all this time. However, he made sure that there were people watching her. 

The only way she and her guard she had brought back from the north would be able to escape together was if there was someone who knew his residence and as well as his the whole capital, to have helped them.

The only person that he could think of was Alicia who he had allowed to enter the castle to see Althea.

Althea wanted to go out to meet with Alicia but Damian refused to allow it. Not wanting Althea to be sad, he allowed Alicia to enter the castle to see her. 

Just a few hours later, Althea was gone! Damian would never believe that it was a coincidence. 

"If you are really going to go this far then I'll have no other option but to enter the palace and let the king know what you are trying to do! You want to harm my only daughter, do you think that I will just sit back and take this?!"

Judan's voice hardened as he said this. He knew that going against the baron was not going to bring him any benefits. 

But his daughter's life was in danger, he didn't want to take any risks. 

"Ha!" Damian scoffed, a fearless look on his face, "you can go ahead and tell the king" he said arrogantly. 

Judan swallowed a gulp. Damian doesn’t fear the king, so he does whatever he wants. In fact, the king and queen even had to be respectful to him. Judan doubted if he would get any results if he went to the King. 

"But this..." 

Judan was still trying to think of an excuse for his daughter when one of the guards that Damian had left outside came rushing in, a panicked look on his face. 

"Baron! There's a message from the palace!" The guard announced. 

Both Alicia and her father sucked in a breath when they heard this, their faces pale. 

Alicia was shaking in fear, did the king already know about this? 

Damian turned to that guard with a confused look on his face, he hadn't reported anything to the palace yet, how come there was news? 

Just as he was about to ask questions, the butler of the prince walked in slowly. 

"Baron," the butler bowed his head, acknowledging Damian. 

Although he noticed the father and the daughter in the room, the butler did not acknowledge them. 

His master was the crown prince after all, and the only person the butler had to be respectful to was the baron. 

"The crown prince has asked that I come and escort you into the palace. He said he found two suspicious people in the forest, and he wants you to come and see for yourself," the butler announced. The crown prince had told him not to reveal yet that it was Althea.

Damian's face fell when he heard this, his heart racing fast against his chest. Could it be that.....

"Let's go!" Damian made his decision to go take a look at who the intruders were first. 

As for Alicia and her father, he could always deal with those bastards later! 

Alicia's knees gave way and she fell to the ground once the baron and his men were gone. 

She placed her hand on her fast beating chest as she tried to calm herself down. 

She had been so scared just now. She thought for sure that she was going to lose her life! 

Judan stared at his daughter with a dark look on his face, now that Damian was gone, he didn't need to hide his thoughts. 

He knew Alicia well, and seeing the look on her face, he could guess that his daughter had done something. 

"Do you want to explain to me what the heck you've done?" Judan asked his daughter, his blood boiling as the words left his mouth. 

"I didn't do anything," Alicia said, as she turned her eyes away. 

Judan laughed as he shook his head "do you really think that this is the time for you to show your arrogance to me? Do you not realize the situation you're in? The baron already suspects you! If care is not taken, you might lose your life! Is this what you want?" Judan snapped at her.   

Alicia suckled in a breath, before, she would never have believed that Damian would go as far as hurting her, but seeing as he had behaved earlier, she really didn't dare to take the gamble at all. 

"I...I just wanted to create opportunities for myself! I love the baron! I have always loved Damian since I was young! Everyone thought I would become the baroness! What right does that woman have to take my place?!!” Alicia screamed in anger as tears rolled down her eyes.
