Chapter 129 To hell with him!
Chapter 129 To hell with him!
Scarlett's POV.
I didn't know what had gotten into Christian but I wondered how a human could change so quickly and effortlessly.
He thinks he can control me? Then I'll let him know that he can never!.
“Odessa, please get me my phone from my room” I said to Odessa who was crossing the dining room to the sitting room.
She bowed slightly and walked upstairs immediately while I took my seat on the sofa, fidgeting on my fingers.
Someone was spying on me? On us? Cameras were in the room, making me start to wonder what the person must have seen and what they were really after.
I didn't want to involve Terrence as I had the feeling that he wouldn't be able to get to the root of this since it happened in Christian's home, there was no way to find out.
Odessa arrived with the phone and handed it over to me, I muttered a thank you and turned the screen on.
The first thing that caught my eyes was the trending articles and breaking news which was about arson.
I clicked and checked. Walter had been called out for opening an underground dark web and he was getting criticized by the public for that.
A smile found its way to my lips as relief surged through me. It suddenly felt like I got the appropriate justice for the girls being harassed.
I could tell Christian was the one behind this. Why then did he change again?
I shoved that to the back of my mind and put a call across to Logan.
If Christian is acting bossy over his company, then I will tell him I can easily get other options.
Logan picked up after the phone rang for a while. “Hey, Logan”
“Hi, Scarl”
“Thanks once again for saving me” I said and he laughed.
“Will you finally stop that once you've thanked me a hundred times?” He said.
I only chuckled. That wasn't the reason why I had called.
“Logan, I need a place to work in your company. If the event planning job is still available, can I have it?” I asked.
Logan went silent for a while before he replied.
“I'm sorry, Scarlett. I don't have any available posts for you at the moment.” He said. “Did something happen between you and Christian?”
I felt disappointed and my voice suddenly went down.
“Thank you. Don't worry about Christian and I, we are fine” I said and ended the call almost immediately.
I didn't know why I was feeling sad but it was surely because I believed I would always have a spot in Logan's company like he had always told me.
I took a deep breath and stood up, wanting to go get fresh air to clear my brain.
Tom was standing outside the door when I walked out, his straightforward face snapping to me.
I ignored him and walked out but could feel his presence behind me. That made me stop and I turned.
“Don't follow me. I want to walk alone” I said, turning again but could still feel his presence.
When I turned back to him again, my face darkened. “I said not to follow me”
I was getting angered. It was not because of him but because of the past minutes I had spent in the house.
Christian not telling me about the recorders, laying me off his company like I had never been a part of it and feeling disappointed from the call with Logan, everything was overwhelming.
“The boss had told me not to leave your side even for a moment if you are leaving the house ma'am” he said.
“And I just said I don't want you to come with me” I gritted, getting angry at Tom too.
Do any of them have to frustrate me like this? Do they have to anger me?
Tom bowed his head deeply. “I'm sorry but I follow boss's orders before anyone else's”
I laughed for a second in a sarcastic way before I stormed back into the house.
I stormed upstairs and opened the door to Christian's room without even bothering to knock.
Christian was just pulling his shirt off and I didn't care.
“What was that bullshit you told Tom?” I asked. “Not to let me go out alone?”
“Yes, I told him and you will have to obey it” he said.
I stared at him, my face cladded with disbelief.
“What the hell is going on with you?” I titled my head, still not wanting to believe how much he was changing in just a few hours.
“Tell me. Am I in danger?” I asked.
That could be the only way to justify all he had been doing. Telling me not to attend work and tightening Tom's security on me. All so suddenly?
Christian moved to me and I didn't flinch. His hand held my chin up, making me stare deep into his eyes.
“Look, there's no danger anywhere,” he said. “Just obey whatever it is I tell you to do”
I snapped his hand off my face. “Cut the bullshit! I'm not your fucking puppet!”
Christian chuckled. “Did you forget? This was only–” I cut him off.
“Yeah! Just a marriage deal!” I snapped and scoffed. “I thought we stopped talking about that?”
“I won't stay obedient under you!” I said. “You don't want me to work in your company? Alright, I won't”
“But don't think I won't work elsewhere because of you!” I snapped. “Don't think you can tell me not to go anywhere and I will obey!”
I looked around and my eyes caught his car key. I stormed towards it and picked it up.
Christian turned to me, his face calm. Mine looked into his, filled with venom.
“Try to stop me from driving out of the parking lot’’ I glared and stormed out of the room.
To hell be with Christian! To hell be with his rules! I'm done caring about anything!
