Chapter 65 — The Kiss
Emily's POV
He kissed me.
In a split second, Noah crashed his lips onto mine and held my face in both of his hands, deepening the kiss.
Noah Black was kissing me.
Why did it feel so good?
I was too shocked to give a reaction. My body was tingling everywhere and my mind was spinning around in circles. It was a kind of feeling I had never experienced in my life before.
My knees felt like jelly, and my heart was threatening to jump out of my chest. It was getting too hot everywhere, but all of it felt so damn good.
His kiss was gentle and soft, yet at the same time passionate and promising. I exactly didn't know what made it happen, but tears started pouring out of my eyes and my heart started clenching in my chest.
Moments later I was kissing him back like my life depended on it. Somewhere in the process, my fingers found their way to his ridiculously soft and thick hair.
I was crying and at the same time kissing him. He pulled me closer to his chest that now I was almost sitting on his lap. I ran my hand through his hair and he groaned inside my mouth, making my stomach do a somersault.
His kiss seemed so promising. Promising me that he was here with me. Promising me that I didn't have to do this alone. Promising that all of it will come to an end one day. Maybe it was the reason I was crying. His presence somehow made me an emotional wreck every time.
It seemed as if he poured out his heart to me in that kiss, telling me everything he wanted to tell for a long time but couldn't put in words.
We pulled away panting heavily. Noah rested his forehead against mine and I closed my eyes again, letting the warmth of his body embrace me. My arms were still around his neck and one of his hands was holding me close to his chest by my waist while the other hand was cupping my cheek.
He kissed my eyes that were wet with tears and then my nose. He then rested his lips on my forehead and stayed like that for a moment longer and then finally stood up, making me miss the warmth and wave of emotions he made me feel.
It was the first time I felt something since last night. His kiss somehow brought back all of my senses and now I felt disgusted by myself for even making that ridiculous decision in the first place. I couldn't even bring myself to look at him in the eyes.
He gently took my trembling hand in his and pulled me up from the couch that I collided with his chest once again. I still wasn't looking at him. My eyes were cast downwards when he brought his fingers under my chin and lifted it up, making me look at him in the eyes.
His eyes were filled with an unreadable expression but it wasn't a disgusted look, in fact, it was far from disgusted. The look he was giving me was something one would decipher as desire and passion.
He was now looking at me like he was determined to bring a smile on my face no matter what it might cost him. And I felt so safe and sound in his arms that I didn't want him to let go, ever.
He nodded his head at me, a gesture to tell that I didn't need to worry about anything, and just like that my heart felt at peace and my soul could breathe again after a long time.
He removed his hand from around my waist, much to my dismay, and started walking towards the door, with one hand still in mine. He was taking small and slow steps and I knew it was because of me.
He locked the door and started walking towards his house, with me hot on his heels. We stopped beside his SUV and Noah dug in his pocket, taking out the key and unlocking the passenger's seat. He sat me in before making his way towards the driver's seat and climbing in himself.
He entered the key in the ignition and the car roared to life. Noah's hand found mine and he intertwined our fingers together before resting both of our hands on my thigh, making my mind go haywire again.
He started driving away and I snuggled back into the seat, closing my eyes. I didn't ask him where he was taking me or what were we supposed to do. I just trusted him in a way that I knew that whatever he would do will make things fall back into place again.
I didn't get a wink of sleep last night and honestly, I didn't even feel the need to until now. Now that Noah's hand was in mine and I had a constant source to get his warmth, I felt drowsy.
Noah subconsciously drew circles on my knuckles with his thumb and I was feeling this weird sensation in the pit of my stomach.
What was he doing to me?
It amazed me that how something that he wasn't even aware of could affect me in such a way that I couldn't even think straight.
I turned my head towards him and saw a frown on his face, indicating that he was lost in deep thoughts. I didn't know why Noah cared about me this much but I was glad that I had him in my life.
At this point, I couldn't even imagine my life without him in it.
I realized that the car had come to a stop and I was still shamelessly staring at Noah but he, unlike the other days didn't make any snarky comments about my staring but simply gave me a small smile, a smile not a cocky smirk but a smile and squeezed my hand in a reassuring gesture.
He let go of my hand and jumped out of the car, jogging towards my seat before opening it and stretching out his hand which I gladly took.
We started walking towards the entrance and my anxiety level rose up to the sky. I didn't know why he brought me here and what was he going to do now but after what I did, I didn't dare to reason his actions anymore.
Neither I nor Noah had spoken anything after that kiss that it made me wonder whether he was regretting it or not but I quickly brushed the thought away because no matter how stupid or dumb I might be I could never miss the sincerity in those eyes of his.
His eyes showed adoration when he kissed me and that thought alone was enough to make my toes curl again.
We reached the waiting area and Noah made me sit on the seat, squeezing my hand twice and then walking away towards the receptionist.
He talked to him while I admired him from afar. Noah had that aura of authority and control around him. Even when he was doing something as simple as walking it looked like he was the freaking president of the country.
He then took out his credit card and signed a few papers the boy gave him. I sighed. I knew what he was doing. I wasn't that dumb to not know that he was paying for my mother's surgery expenses and I was helplessly sitting here not even doing an effort to stop him.
He nodded at the receptionist and made his way towards me and sat down beside me. He didn't look at me even when he sat down. He just took my hand from my lap in his hand and placed it on his lap. Rubbing my fingers with his thumb, making my heartbeat erratic again.
I decided to break the ice, "Noah you didn't ha—"
"Shhh," he placed his index finger on my lips that made me shut up my mouth.
He kept his finger on my lips and stared into my eyes as if looking for an answer to a question he was dying to solve.
I looked at the orbs that were now the ones all I could think about and saw them staring back at mine with the same intensity.
"Just relax for a while, Emily," he said after what seemed like an eternity and removed his intense gaze from mine.
He made me rest my head on his shoulder and I drowned myself in his scent. The familiar scent of his cologne reached my nostrils and I took a deep breath letting my mind and soul savor the precious moment.
He seemed to notice this because he looked down at me and it seemed as if he was struggling hard to fight back a smile and I immediately felt embarrassed by my action.
Why do I always make a fool of myself in front of him?
After a while he rested his chin atop my head and snaked his arm around my waist, tugging me closer to him.
I smiled to myself. After a long time, my body was at peace with my mind and within minutes I was falling into a deep slumber with my head on his shoulder and his arm around my waist.
***********I was scarred
Yet you were neat We met like Two worlds meet I adored you But I pushed you away Cause I may hurt you If I stay Between us There is a weird affection A strong repulsion
Yet a strange attraction Without you My world is incomplete
The leaves are not green The sky is not blue No matter how much I want you I can't have you
You'll always be there
I'll always push you away Tell me, won't you?
Am I the only one
With a billion tears A thousand of problems
And a hundred fears?
