Chapter 66 — Smile

Emily's POV

Sunlight from my room's window shone on my face and I groaned before putting the duvet on my face and sighing in content.

Much better.

I tossed to the other side with my eyes still closed and smiled when the familiar scent hit my nostrils.

I wanted to wake up to this every morning.

As I buried my face deep into the sheets, the scent grew stronger, and as I was drifting off to another deep slumber with the smell of the amazing cologne around me when my senses came back to me and my eyes flutter open on their own.

I peeked from the sheets and frowned when I realized that I wasn't in my room. In fact, I was in someone else's room.

A certain someone's room.

I jolted upwards and looked towards my left then towards the right and when I saw nobody around me I fell back onto the comfy bed and decided to give my heart a break.

I was going to do a sin yesterday. Noah saved me from doing so. We kissed.

I immediately blushed at the thought of it.

We went to the hospital in his car. I slept on his chest.

I didn't remember anything after that. I had no freaking idea how I ended up sleeping in Noah's bed.

Surprisingly the thought didn't scare me one bit. Sure it was awkward and all but I felt rather comfortable and at peace. If I had woken up in someone else's room, let's say it was Aaron, I would've freaked out.

But waking up in Noah's room was rather comforting in an odd way.

Speaking of Aaron, I groaned when I realized what mistake I had made. I had betrayed someone who had been nothing but kind and sincere to me. From day one I knew I didn't deserve someone like Aaron but I didn't know that I would disappoint him this badly.

Now, this didn't mean that I regretted the kiss. Sure it was a wrong move and I should've pulled back before the kiss happened but I did not regret kissing him back one bit. Yet I doubted if Noah did.

Maybe he realized after all that it was a mistake and he shouldn't have done it in the first place, and this thought strangely saddened me.

I decided to tell Aaron everything honestly and let him decide whether he wanted to stay or leave. Although I already knew the answer to it. Of course, he would break up with me after knowing that I kissed someone else while being in a relationship with him. Aaron practically always begged me to let him kiss me every time he was out of his senses but I never allowed him to do so.

But with Noah it was different.

Suddenly the thought of my mother's surgery came into my mind and I quickly pushed the duvet away and tied my hair into a bun, planning to run downstairs and ask what the hell happened while I was out.

I hadn't slept like this in ages.

As I jumped off the bed, I nearly screamed when I saw someone sprawled on the floor with the blanket underneath them. I placed a hand on my heart calming down its wild beating and took a closer look and my eyes nearly popped out of the sockets when I realized who it was.

Noah was sleeping on the floor in his own room, yet here I was, sleeping like the freaking sleeping beauty so peacefully and comfortably on his bed.

I sat down beside him and frowned when I saw the creases on his forehead. It seemed as if he wasn't even peaceful in his sleep. It seemed like he was contemplating something.

His hair was messy and he was wearing a black tank top, yet he still somehow managed to take my breath away. The locks of his hair were on his forehead and my hands were aching to brush them off.

Somehow my hand found its way to his forehead and I brushed the locks away from his face and placed my hand on his cheek rubbing my thumb along his cheekbone. The frown on his face turned into a small smile and he subconsciously leaned further into my touch, making my stomach do a backflip.

I sat there for a while, just staring at his beautiful face.

Only seeing his face made my insides relax.

I didn't know when but my thumb made its way to his chin and I traced his lower lip. The memories of our kiss flooded back into my mind. He kissed me with so much longing and passion that for some moments, all my worries were thrown out of the window and all my surroundings just blurred away. Made me feel as if only the two of us existed in this world. Everything else just ceased to exist for some moments.

In my own made world.

So lost in thoughts, I didn't even notice that Noah had woken up and now he was staring at me with an expression I couldn't yet decipher.

Oh joy, my thumb was still on his lip.

I jerked my hand back quickly as if his lip was on fire, and lowered my head down, too embarrassed by my actions. When he didn't say anything for a few moments, my curiosity got the best of me and I peeked up to find him still looking at me.

Noah had been acting really strange since we had that little 'moment' yesterday. Neither he was ignoring me nor he was talking to me. Whenever I'd try to make a conversation he just shushed me up.

"Hi," he smiled and my heart leaped with joy seeing his eyes crinkle the same way they used to do when we first met.

"Morning," I smiled back and an involuntary blush made its way to my cheeks.

I stood up from beside him and turned my head to the other side, not wanting him to see the way he affected me. I sat down on the edge of the bed and fidgeted with my fingers.

The tension between Noah and me was never this thick.

I felt him move behind me but I didn't turn around because I knew my cheeks were still red as a tomato and I honestly didn't want him to see that.

"What happened after I fell asleep?" I asked in a low voice, still playing with my fingers nervously.

"I brought you to my car and laid you down on the back seat. You slept like a baby," he chuckled lightly and I bit my lower lip nervously.

He sat down beside me and my heartbeat picked up an abnormal pace once again. I still didn't look up at him. I just couldn't meet his eyes after what happened yesterday.

"How did the surgery go?" I asked.

"The operation went successful. Dad made sure that only the best doctors were allowed in the operation theater," he told me and I frowned and looked up at him.

"Noah, you already did en—"

"Shh, we're not gonna talk about it again," he lightly shook his head and placed his finger on my lips, making a burning sensation everywhere in my body.

"But—"

"When was the last time you slept properly before last night ?" he asked, entirely changing the subject.

This was honestly the last thing I wanted to talk about.

"I don't remember," I mumbled and cast my eyes downwards with his finger still on my lips and my mind on cloud nine.

He remained silent for a moment and I looked up to find him staring at me with the same unreadable expression on his face. Unlike mine, Noah's eyes gave absolutely nothing away.

Or maybe I wasn't good at reading people.

"I slept peacefully last night though," I smiled against his finger, making his face break into a lopsided smile as well.

"I figured," he finally removed his finger from my lips and I struggled not to show my dismay.

"I could've taken you to your own house but my mind refused to leave you alone," he simply shrugged and my heart almost jumped out of my throat.

The keyword is almost.

"Thanks," I gave him a genuine smile, the type of smile I didn't have to fake.

He held my face in his hands and for a second I thought he was going to kiss me again. His thumb stroked my cheek and he leaned in and rested his forehead against mine. I closed my eyes and breathed in his scent.

I just couldn't get enough of this scent.

"Smile more often," he whispered and I nodded, too overwhelmed to muster up any words.

"Do you want to go to the hospital?" he asked after a moment of silence.

"Yes," I said and he nodded against my forehead.

I didn't want him to let go anytime soon but seemed like luck could never be on my side because he stood up and walked over to his closet, leaving me all flushing behind.

He came back with a grey hoodie in hands which he threw at me.

I obviously didn't catch it.

"Change up we'll be leaving soon," he said and started walking towards the bathroom door.

"But I can go and change at my ow—"

"Wear this," was all he said before disappearing into the bathroom.

I hugged his hoodie to my chest. Of course, it smelled like him.

Of course, I was dying to wear it.
