Chapter 27 Does it hurt?

Ayden was again acting all gentle towards Eve after that day. Today, he took Eve for a checkup as she wasn’t feeling well. Laura was also with them as Eve insisted. This was the first time after so long, she came outside.

The doctor took Eve Inside a room while Ayden waited outside. The doctor was an old female woman because of which he agreed on having her check Eve. She laid down on the bed while the doctor examined her.

She was perfectly fine and the doctor was confident about it.

“You are fine. Why are you acting?” The doctor asked. She was a very experienced doctor and knew she was faking a stomach ache.

Eve got alarmed. She didn’t want to fool the doctor but now she has to do something. If the doctor told Ayden that she was just acting, he’ll suspect her.

Suddenly, she started crying as it always worked. The doctor, being a kind lady, consoled her and asked the reason.

“My husband doesn’t care for me in the slightest. But since I told him about my illness, he started caring about me and even after my refusal, brought me here to you.” She said while crying.

“Oh, that’s the case. But you shouldn’t have lied. Talk to him.” The doctor advised.

“I’m sorry, doctor. But please don’t tell my husband that I was faking it. Even though he looks very cool from outside, he becomes really angry at things like this. I assure you I will not do it again.” She said, still sobbing.

“Don’t worry, child. I will not tell him but don’t do this again. Take care of yourself as you’re quite underweight.”

“Thank you so much, doctor.” She said, her face showing relief.

They returned back. Ayden held her hand and they sat on the chair opposite to the doctor’s. The doctor didn’t tell him anything but told him to take care of him because she was underweight.

“Can being underweight affect pregnancy?” Ayden asked the doctor, his tone very serious. Eve looked at him in surprise but he was just looking at the doctor for an answer.

“Oh, so you’re planning a baby. Being underweight can cause some hormonal imbalances that influence ovulation which may affect your fertility.” The doctor replied, looking at Eve who had no interest in this topic.

“What should we do then?” He asked again.

“Try changing to a healthy balanced diet and gain weight slowly. A dietitian can help.”

After that Ayden asked more questions about this and finally when he got all the answers, he got up and thanked the doctor. Eve smiled slightly at the doctor as if thanking her for not telling him.

“Are you not eating properly?” He asked.

“I… I’m.” She replied in hesitation.

“Then, why are you underweight? Don’t try to fool me. I’ll ask Laura to take care of that from now on.” She nodded.

‘Look at him acting all fake. Just a slight mistake by me and you will not hesitate to kill me! I will not be tricked by you.’

Thinking of which she remained silent and nodded her head in yes to whatever he was asking her to do.

She was finally successful in coming to the hospital. Also, he didn’t suspect her. Laura met them at the exit and all of them went back home.

Little did he know it was her scheme to get some pills. She told Laura to get some for her and she bought some for her.

Some days passed by and Ayden was very serious about having a baby. He was very gentle while doing it and treated Eve with affection.

After having dinner, both of them walked towards their room. Eve went directly to the bathroom while Ayden sat on the bed.

She came out with her head down and walked towards her side of the bed. She laid down on the bed while Ayden snuggled closer to her. He turned her towards his side.

He kissed her lips and then moved towards her neck. While kissing her neck, he was about to remove her shorts when Eve’s hand stopped him.

He looked at her and said, "What happened?”

“I’m on my period.” She said and looked away from him. She wasn’t embarrassed but scared as to how he would react to it.

He leaned closer to her and kissed her forehead.

“Does it hurt?” He asked while she looked at him in disbelief. He used to be so angry when he couldn’t touch her because of that.

“A little bit.”

“Do you want something?” He asked, again shocking her.

“No… nothing.” She said and turned away from him.

Moving closer to her, he put his arm under her neck and caressed her stomach with the other hand. His warm hands did comfort her as the first day was always painful.

“Should I keep doing it? Wait, let me bring you a heat pad.” He said and was about to get up when Eve stopped him.

“I don’t need it. Just keep your hand there.” She replied, honestly.

He lied down and looked at her in surprise. He smiled while putting his hand back to her stomach.

All of a sudden, a mysterious smile appeared on his face. His fingers started moving up and down, causing a tickling sensation on her stomach.

She began to giggle, while he kept on doing it. She told her to stop but he didn’t. Her giggle turned into outright laughter. She turned towards him and he kept on looking at her face. Her laugh brought a smile to his face too.

“Stop please…stop it. A.. Ayden!” She tried to speak in between her laughs. Ayden felt euphoric seeing her laugh like that.

He stopped tickling her while she took a long breath and looked at him with a big smile. Ayden was dumbstruck after seeing that beautiful smile of hers. It wasn’t a forced smile, but a genuine one. A smile enough to light up his world.

Moving closer to her, he kissed the mesmerising smile of hers.

“I love you.” He confessed.

She didn’t say a word and turned to the other side. Wrapping his arms around her, lying close with his stomach resting against her back. Then, again he put his one arm around her neck and other on her stomach, caressing softly.

She didn’t want to confess it but she felt nice like that. It felt very peaceful with him caressing her and her being close to him. He talked with her normally. She wanted to forget about everything for just this night.

Thinking of which, she put her right hand on his, which was caressing her tummy. After that, she closed her eyes.

Ayden smiled at this little action of hers and pecked her cheek before drifting to a peaceful sleep.

But just after 2 hours, his phone rang. It was Bryan who told him about some emergency. Ayden quickly got up and with him, Eve too. She looked at him, rubbing her eyes.

“Sleep baby. There’s some work. I’ve to go.” He said and pecked her forehead.

Ayden went outside only to find Bryan on the stairs with Grace in his arms.

“Is Eve awake? Can you put Grace with Eve? She is asleep.” Bryan whispered to Ayden and passed the baby to him.

Ayden went inside and put Grace next to Eve who wasn’t asleep yet.

“We’ll be back soon!” He said, before going out.
