Chapter 56

*****Dani's POV*****

"Sophie?" I take a step towards her, wary of her broken features.

She looked awful. Her hair wasn't it's usual, neatly styled way and her mascara had run down her face. Her eyes were bloodshot and puffy from crying and she was shaking like a leaf.

"It's all my fault!" She sobs, dropping to her knees as I catch her in my arms.

"What is? I don't understand? What happened?" I push the questions softly, panicking now at what could make her this way.

"They took her from me! They took my Viv!" She roars the words out as my surroundings seem to cave in with her statement.

"W-what?" I question, my eyes instantly watering in horror. She was experiencing every mothers worst nightmare...

"It was Cassio! Her father! He's took my baby away!" She sobs in my arms, releasing panicked breaths as I rub her back - crying now too.

I was too shocked to notice that Axel was behind us roaring out orders to everybody and anybody - infuriated that his own niece was now gone.

"Dani we need to go and speak to Ivanna right now!" Axel suddenly hauls me away from the sobbing Sophie, as I watch Belle and Lily step in to help her to her feet.

"They will help her don't worry! We need to get shit done right now!" Axel continues to drag me up the steps, not realising how tight he was holding my arm in the process.

I didn't blame him though, this news was simply tragic. We had to find her and fast!

"H-How... why did she come here? Or did he go to our home and take her?" I ramble out the questions, unable to understand how this happened so fast and why Sophie was here.

"They travelled over here with our builders... I ordered for them to come here and help fix up the homes in this pack... she decided to travel down with Viv... which was a fucking dumb ass idea! But she received a letter from Cassio and wanted to bring it to me!" He roars, evidently infuriated by the whole incident.

"It's not her fault Axel... she only wanted to keep her baby close to her... she probably thought that if we travelled down here safely then they could too..." I explain, understanding why Sophie would decide to bring Viv but also understanding why Axel thought it was stupid of her.

"She shouldn't have fucking brought her here!" He snaps down to me, stopping outside Ivannas room - glaring at me with his familiar dark eyes.

There was no use in arguing with him... emotions were just too high.

I gulped and nodded - deciding it was the best response I could offer him. Before he groans and pushes open the door to find a still happy Ivanna.

"You took your time dear- oh!" She turns to greet us before her features drop with concern as she takes us in.

"Goodness what on earth happened to you both?!" She gasps, as Axel releases my throbbing arm to slam the door shut.

I glance to see him inhaling a sharp breath, closing his eyes in an attempt to calm his wolf...

"They have taken my niece... we need your help." He forces his words out to be as soft as he can muster, as Ivanna nods in understanding before gesturing for him to sit in the seat out of the way.

"Dani you can help me again yes?" She gains my attention as I nod and blink back the tears threatening to fall in my eyes.

"Ok, I'm doing the documents first! Can you grab me the small dagger over in that case?" She points to a small box on one of the shelves as I nod.

She then moves to pour a clear liquid in to the melting pot, as I carry the short black dagger over to her with care.

I glance quickly over to Axel who continues to shift in the seat - unable to settle himself or his mind. He would probably smash this whole room up if we didn't need it so bad.

"Thank you dear!" Ivanna nods, before slicing her palm with the dagger - wasting no time.

I instantly wince at the scene, acting as though it had been my own palm, however Ivanna carries on as though nothing had even happened.

She drips the flowing blood into the liquid, as I curiously peak in to see it turning a deep red colour.

"I need one of those syringes now dear." She nods over to a nearby table as I move to get it quickly.

She takes it from me before gesturing for me to move back, as I go to stand beside Axel, who instantly pulls me down onto his knee.

He holds me tight and buries his face in my neck - taking deep inhales of my scent to calm himself further. I continue to watch on from my seat, as Ivanna continues with more incoherent chants and rhymes.

I watch as she stops after brief minutes pass, moving to grab the nearby documents before placing them on a stool beside the melting pot.

She then fills the syringe with the red liquid, before placing a single drop on each page of the first document folder.

She stops briefly to watch, shuffling slightly in anticipation as to whether the spell will work or not... and I pray that for Axel and Vivs sake that it does work the first time!

Axel will flip out if we don't get anywhere with this right now... he needs those documents! He needs something to progress with... he needs his niece back!

I watch Ivanna as she taps her foot impatiently on the wood floor. Axel continuing to breathe deeply in my neck which only caused my nerves to heighten.

We waited longer, before she eventually released a sigh followed by a small clap of her hands.

"It's working... slowly but surely... the whole document should be clear to read in ten minutes or so! I'll do the others now too!" She speaks the words that we needed to hear, causing Axel to lift his head from my neck and to stand.

I stood with him, watching as he approaches the document - releasing a sigh.

I can't believe they have little Viv... I hope she's ok and that they don't hurt the poor thing! Axel will surely wipe them all out for this alone!

"Axel..." I gain his attention as he lifts the first folder and brings it towards me.

"Did Sophie show you the letter that he sent her?" I question, suddenly wondering what was actually on the letter.

"Yes I have it but I was too angry to read it!" He grits out, reaching into his pocket to retrieve the crumpled up square.

"Can I see?" I ask, as he studies me cautiously, unsure of whether it was safe to do so or not.

"Fine." He breaks finally, handing me the letter before looking over the first clear page shown in the classified document.

I take the dirty paper, unfolding it only to find a single paragraph that reads...
