Chapter 57

*****Dani's POV*****

"Sophie did you miss me darling? I'm finally coming back to ruin you. You are going to beg for forgiveness... but how could I ever forgive you for wanting to fuck my own brother? I have thought hard about it... and have decided that our poor daughter doesn't deserve to have a slut as her mother. I'm going to take her from you. In the middle of the night, no matter how close you hold her, I'm going to take her away. Your pathetic kingdom can't keep me away either... I watch your every move Sophie, I'm already closer than you think. Kiss bye bye to your daughter because you'll be lucky to ever see her again - C"

By the end of the chilling paragraph even the hairs on my arms were stood alert. My palms grew sweaty and my heartbeat quickened.

What an evil, evil man.

"That bad?" Axel studies my now tear stained cheeks.

"Sophie brought Viv here because he made her think that she wasn't safe back home. She thought that only you would be able to protect them Axel." I explain, the tears continuing to run as Ivanna busily worked behind us.

"Show me it." I place the paper in Axels hands, as his eyes begin to scan the words - his face growing angrier with each passing line.

"That bastard!" He shoves the paper back in my hands, probably knowing that I would prevent him from destroying it.

"Axel you have to remain calm, you wont think straight otherwise." I take his large hand in mine and attempt to circle his knuckles - something that I know calms me and therefore may work for him.

"Alpha look here!" Ivanna calls to us, as we both turn to see her holding up the second document file containing a map.

"Perfect!" Axel suddenly takes large strides towards her to study the map further, looking briefly pleased with the result.

"I'm getting Grey, Nolan and that kid Saul to come up here!" He states more to himself, seeming to be back in the game as he begins to read over the other pages - marking them with notes of his own.

I decide to take a seat, feeling overwhelmed completely by everything that's going on as I continue to stare down at the note in my hands.

I began to wonder if my life would ever be calm. Will I ever actually feel safe and settled?

One day I was nearly killed by my own father... now I am in this crazy world with a mate who is seconds away from causing a whole war!

As for poor little Viv... I wish that psycho bastard didn't take her! He could have shown a little decency by leaving the damn kids out of his family feud! That man just had to step way too far over the line! He was truly just the epitome of evil and I hadn't even met this damn brother of his yet!

I watched the door open as the three men Axel had requested walked in.

"How is she?" Axel asks, as Grey shrugs.

"She's alive..." Grey states, with that seeming to be the only positive note surrounding Sophie at the moment.

Ivanna moved away from the men and towards me, her work on the documents now being finished.

"Are you ok dear? If it makes you feel any better, I think you're coping with this whole mess exceptionally well so far... like a true Luna!" She smiles kindly at me, showing me slight pity with her eyes on our situation.

"Thank you... I just wish I could do more I guess." I mumble with a slight shrug, watching as Axel shows the men the newly discovered map as they all seem to perk up at this.

"You are doing so much already please don't doubt yourself! You may not be as strong as them physically but you are helping everyone more than you know! Your kindness alone is worth everything to this pack... the way you smile as you pass by and even stop to help out when you can - it gives us hope." Ivanna places a gentle hand on my shoulder, offering me a kind smile as I nod.

"You will kill him tonight! I am not wasting more time!" Axel states, gaining my full attention now as I perk up at his strong statement.

"Yes sir!" Saul states with determination as I gulp.

Tensions are already too high... is it really appropriate to have the Alpha battle today on top of that?

"Nolan round up the whole pack! They will fight in an hour!" Axel demands, as the men leave the room instantly.

"Axel... will Saul be ok?" I question warily once they are gone as he nods over to us now.

"He will rip him apart doll, I don't doubt that for a fucking minute!" Axel states firmly as I nod.

"Ivanna you wouldn't happen to have anything to help Sophie? They've just taken her daughter and she isn't coping great..." Axel asks, as she immediately gets up to go and look in her book.

Axel pauses to stare at me briefly as we wait, his face hard and stern as he studies me with his piercing eyes.

"I do have something that will sort of 'numb' the pain temporarily?" She offers and Axel nods approvingly.

"Perfect just do it! Dani, you're coming with me in the meantime." Axel announces next, starting to gather up all of the files to bring with him.

I stand shakily, making my way towards him at the door - taking his outstretched hand and offering a small wave to Ivanna as we leave.

"Why is there so much bad in this world..." I let the words fall out, as Axel pulls me with him along the hallway.

"I'm going to fix it Dani...trust me..." He states, as I sigh hoping that he actually manages to eventually.

We continue along in the direction of the room we've been staying in, as Axel continues to read through the remains of the documents on the way.

We eventually reach our current room, before entering and closing the door behind us.

I stand for a moment, unsure of what we were here for and why I had to come...

"You need to mark me now." The words hit my ears as the whole situation makes sense.

"Oh...now?" I mumble in response as the nerves settle in the pit of my stomach.

"Yes now. We don't have time Dani." He states the obvious, as I only nod.

He makes a move towards the white bed, pulling me down to sit beside him - throwing his head back with a sigh.

"Forgive me... I'm just stressed." He explains, as I look to him as he closes his eyes.

"I understand." I nod to myself, thinking that it must be hard to be in control of everyone like he is. I could never!

"Show me how." The words leave my lips before I can process them, causing his eyes to snap open to me.

He pauses briefly, continuing to study my features, before reaching out to shift me so that I was now straddling him.

My breathing hitches at the fast motion, causing him to smirk.

What an ass!

He leans in next, capturing my lips with his as I instantly kiss him back feeling explosions of butterflies - my typical reaction every time he kisses me.

The kiss soon gets heated, us both seeming to forget our surroundings instantly as we only take in each other.

He pulls away briefly, not wasting a moment before moving my head towards his neck. I instinctively begin to kiss and suck it, praying that I was indeed doing something right…

His head cranks back, allowing me more access as I kiss lower - earning a rewarding grunt from him.

When I get down to the nape, he releases one of the hottest sounds I think I’ve ever heard… and at that moment something inside me tells me to bite.
