Chapter 55

*****Dani's POV*****

"Ok so I done some searching and I found my old enchantment book that my mother passed down to me years ago! She was a spectacular witch so I believe that if anything will help then it's her book!" Ivanna states as I help her organise the room properly.

The room was plain and spacious, a strong lock on the door to prevent any uninvited people from coming in during something important.

There was a lot of odd ingredients in jars stacked along shelves in the room. It was the typical witch things that you would read about in stories, only more... real.

There were normal things too such as plants, vegetables and what looked like different spices all around the room. I cringed however landing on a shelf that held things like frogs legs, insects, different animal body parts and other generally disgusting looking things.

"Don't stare for too long dear... I used to be sick all the time when I was younger looking at this stuff!" She comforts me with a gentle laugh as I nod and look away.

"See this!" She calls me over, pointing to a page in the dusty book that held a drawing.

"We first need to mark this symbol on the floor of the room that we are working in. I can't bend down for too long so do you think you could draw that for me as I search for a basic spell to warm up?" She explains as I nod, taking the white paint marker from her.

I wasn't bad at art, I actually enjoyed it, so I took my time and ensured that I copied every line and marking on the page - covering the large space in the centre of the floor.

"Is that ok?" I stand back, admiring the work as she studied it.

"That's actually perfect!" She smiles and nods, causing me to feel proud that I could at least be useful for something important.

"Ok so I think I'll try this spell first! It's not the easiest but it's not awfully hard either. I think I could benefit from it most too!" She laughs at the end as I awkwardly laugh with her - unsure of what was funny at this point.

I stand back and watch as she goes around the room gathering up what I'm assuming is the ingredients she needs.

She retrieves what looks like a more modern bronze melting pot as I help her carry the large object to the centre of the floor markings I had drawn.

"Stand back dear and don't panic, whatever happens is normal!" She explains, as I stand back and sit in the corner on a chair.

I watch in amazement as she mutters incoherent words and chants, pouring liquids into the pot along with the ingredients. This goes on for a couple of minutes before the pot begins to steam.

I watch as her hands shake, as she continues to chant the spell before abruptly stopping causing me to sit up straight.

"Could you bring me one of those cups over dear?" She asks, as I stand to retrieve the item for her.

I watch as she reaches in, filling the small cup with a now dark purple liquid.

She studies it for a moment, holding it up to her eyes before smiling at her work.

"It sure does look right!" She states, as I study the thick liquid - feeling slightly queasy.

"What does it do?" I question, as she smiles and nods briefly.

"Let's find out!" Her eyes glimmer with hope as she chucks back the liquid - swallowing it in one entire gulp as I involuntary release a gasp.

We wait a moment, as nothing seems to happen - before she rushes to retrieve a handheld mirror from the opposite side of the room.

I remain where I am, peering into the melting pot to see that there was no remains. My attention darts back to Ivanna, who seems to release a sob as she hunches over - with her face now in her hands.

"Are you... ok? Don't worry if it didn't work Ivanna! Don't give up yet!" I encourage her as I approach the small woman - rubbing her back in comfort.

She cries for a brief moment before she speaks-

"No dear! It worked! Can you believe it actually worked! After all these years!" She sobs out, straightening up and revealing her face to me as I gasp loudly and step back.

"Oh my... you're... you..." I struggle to find the words as I study her features and skin.

"I look healthy again! I look how I used to!" Her eyes fill with happiness as I study her features in amazement.

Her wrinkles were gone, her eyes were brighter, her skin was glowing, her teeth were straight! She looked amazing!

"I didn't want to go right back to looking your age because that would just be weird wouldn't it dear? An old grandmother in a young girls body can you imagine!" She laughs softly, grabbing me in for a small hug before releasing me.

"I thought going back to my late thirties was most appropriate!" She concludes as I clap my hands.

"This is just... that was outstanding! You look... breathtaking!" I commend the kind woman, who now looks hopeful with her capabilities.

"Does it wear off?" I then ask, wondering how long she could look like this for.

"It won't start to wear off for years to come! Time slows down here and I can always do the spell again when it does - it's easy enough." She smiles, more confident in herself.

"You're amazing!" I state, as she laughs softly.

"Shall we help get these children back then?" She states eagerly, as I nod wanting to see more.

"So I think that if I uncover the contents of the documents for the Alpha first that would be most useful - could you mind-link him to come up here just now?" She flicks through the book as I shuffle awkwardly.

"Uh... I could walk and..." I begin to explain as her eyes dart to me.

"Oh I am so sorry Luna I didn't think! Of course no problem!" Her eyes widen and she apologises before I cut her off.

"No not at all! We are still trying to sort it out, I even got my teeth sharpened this morning to try and mark him - see!" I show her my new little canines as she smiles fondly and nods.

"It will work! I can sense your energy and I know that you are both destined to be together! You will be mind-linking one another before you know it!" Ivanna takes me hands gently and gives them a squeeze - meaning every word she says.

"Thank you! I will go get him now!" I nod, before moving to leave the room.

I walk down the stairs happily, passing many of our familiar guards lining the hallway - them all offering me nods or 'hellos' as I pass and smile at them.

I really did feel that today was a good day!

I continue on, before immediately halting in the kitchen as I notice Axel holding a female in his arms.

Jealousy rips through me like a tidal wave as I clench my fists by my sides, not allowing myself the chance to study the situation any further.

After a minute, I eventually noticed that the female in his arms was sobbing and shaking uncontrollably.

Axel clocks me by the door, instantly removing himself from the female before approaching me in large strides. I'm guessing he can sense my feelings of discomfort.

He pulls me to him instantly - kissing my head softly as I relax in his arms.

I pull away from him, curiously wanting to see the female… before my eyes widen when I take in her wobbling frame.

"Sophie?"
