Chapter 73 Awkward moments
Chapter 73: Awkward Moments
Nixon Estate
Golden had chosen to hang her art work in her bedroom so that she could look at it everytime she woke up and just before she went to bed.
She felt a connection to the piece and every time she looked at it, she felt like her mum was present with her.
She had thought long and hard about her situation with Allan. She had said she would have a conversation on her own terms.
Allan had chosen to respect her decision and did not pressure her to talk.
Although she was grateful that he did not pressure her, she was somewhat disappointed that he didn't.
His pressure would mean that she at least meant something to him.
His gift opened up a part of her she had decided to keep shut. Although she really likes him and might even have fallen in love with him at some point, she had decided to burry her feelings with everything that had happened.
His gift was deep and thoughtful, making her feel like she did indeed mean something to him.
It took her back to the summer break when they had spent three weeks in their own little cocoon, sharing kisses and warm hugs and comfortable silence.
She didn't know how to proceed from here. Why hadn't he sent a message or called her since he delivered his gift on boxing day she thought to herself.
It has been four days already and not a word from him. Did he still think he was blocked? She has told him she has unblocked him or did he forget?
Golden lay on the plush rug in her closet letting her thoughts wander.
She decided she had put off talking to Allan long enough. The year was about to end and she didn't want to end it with an unclear picture.
Golden picked up her phone and decided to text Allan.
Golden: “Hey Allan what's up?”
She saw the three dots that showed he was typing.
Allan: “Hi Golden it's so good to hear from you. What's happening?”
Allan was shocked to receive a message from Golden.
He was in the middle of sterilizing his tools when he message dropped. He rushed to quickly respond.
It felt like ages since they last texted and he waited anxiously for her next text.
Golden: “Are you busy? I was wondering if we could meet up?”
Allan: “I'm at the tattoo parlor right now, I could stop by the Estate later. I should be getting off by 8pm.”
Golden: “That's fine. I would see you in a couple of hours then.”
Golden dropped her phone after she was done texting with Allan. She couldn't believe she actually texted him.
She felt her heartbeat increase and a sense of nervousness enveloped her. She had two hours until Allan showed up.
Was she going to be able to face him and ask all the unsettling questions in her heart?
Did she have the heart to stomach his response or lack of it?
What really was she going to ask him?
He never asked her out or said he liked her. He was free to dance with whomever he wanted.
Golden began self doubting and didn't know if asking Allan over was the right thing to do.
She had two hours to decide what she wanted to do or say.
Meanwhile...
Rex Tattoo Parlor
Allan looked at his phone again. He read the messages Golden had sent again.
He tried to decipher the tone and mood of the message.
Ever since she started dating Fab, he had felt a constriction in his heart.
He was jealous of their closeness but couldn't express it openly. He didn't understand why Golden had blocked him.
Allan was lost in thought when his 6 pm appointment finally arrived. The client had called that he was running a bit late and Allan had used that time to reflect.
Even as he inked his client, it was evident that he was distracted because he made mistakes.
Luckily, they weren't grave mistakes. The thought of Golden lay heavily in his mind and he didn't know why it affected him so much.
Allan wiggled out of his thoughts and managed to get his act together and completed his task smoothly.
8 pm Nixon Estate
Golden stood by the kio pond silently watching the fishes swim happily in the water free from any worries.
She took out some food and and poured into the pond and watched the fishes scramble for the food.
After feeding the fishes, Golden went to the lounge by the pound to wait for Allan.
She sensed Allan when he entered the lounge. She perceived his sandal oud scent and saw the shadow of his shillouet as he approached.
Allan slowly approached Golden. She had her eyes closed and she seemed like she was sleeping.
She was resting on the chaise lounge chair and her hair fell to the back of the chair.
She looked peaceful and Allan was tempted to bring out his sketchbook and sketch her.
Just as he approached her, she slowly opened her eyes like she had been asleep for centuries.
Slowly she sat up and looked at him.
Allan felt his heart throb like it was about to burst out of his chest.
“Hi!” Allan said as he moved to closer to Golden. One hand in his pocket and the other rubbing the back of his neck.
Golden scooted a little making room for Allan on the Chair. “Hi.” She said gently pulling on the hem of her top.
“How was work?”
“Okay I guess. Didn't have many clients today.” He said sitting down.
There was an awkward pause as both of them tried to get their acts together.
“Why did you...” they both said together.
“It's fine, you can go first.” Golden said to Allan.
“Why did you block me Golden?”. This was a question that had plagued him for so long and he really wanted to know why.
Golden took a deep breath and gently typed on her phone.
After awhile she handed over the phone to Allan.
The video from the pool party four months ago was playing on the phone.
She had asked Varney to send her the video and pictures when she made up her mind to confront Allan.
Allan took the phone and watched the video. He remembered that night and felt a bit awkward.
Had Golden blocked him because of this?
