Chapter 74: I Didn't Block You, Alex Did
Allan didn't know where the video came from and how it ended up on Golden's phone.
He recalled that she was in Africa at the time so there was no way she would have this video except someone deliberately sent it to her.
“How did you get this video?” He asked, a look of confusion and uncertainty visible on his face.
“It was all over Tiktalk live.” Golden responded. Then she added, “It is no longer online though.” Just in case he wanted to search for it.
“This isn't the main reason you were blocked though.” She collected her phone, scrolled through and brought out some pictures.
She handed the phone back to Allan and stood up to take a breather. She was remembering the incident all over again.
Allan took the phone hesitantly and looked at the picture. He scrolled through and his expression changed and became darker with every picture.
He had a faint recollection of what happened because he was a bit high that night.
All he could remember was that they were playing a game of truth or dare and he really didn't think anything of it.
He didn't even know that pictures were taken that night. Although he and Golden weren't dating, the pictures were quite suggestive.
“It's really not a big deal Golden. There's nothing going on between Linda and I.” He said as he handed her phone back to him.
“Really Allan! That's what you have to say?” Golden smiled a little disappointed.
What was she expecting? She has always been the one crushing hard on him.
“Well then, I am sorry. I was in over my head.” Golden said shaking her head as if she could shake off the pain she felt—that she was feeling at the moment.
“How did you get these pictures Golden?” Allan asked his voice softer.
He sensed Golden's mood and didn't want her shutting him out before he could fully understand the whole situation.
“Does it really matter?” Golden asked, a sting to her words. “Linda sent them to me.”
“You know what's sad? Before I left for Africa, you were unstable. I wasn't sure which Allan I would return to.”
“Then in Africa, I tried to keep in touch. I was always the one texting despite the time difference.
I put in a lot of effort Allan. And I made excuses for your lack thereof.
I was drowning and was scared of losing what we had because somewhere in my head I was convinced we had a connection.”
Golden paused and blew out air from her mouth, as if trying to release some pent up tension.
Allan stayed quiet. He felt something strike his chest as he heard Golden talk about how he had treated her.
He wanted to say something but he knew she had a lot to say and he was afraid that if he didn't let her say everything on her mind, she might not open up again.
“Then suddenly, I see the guy who I had not heard from in almost a week partying and having fun in a pool.”
“You looked genuinely happy and content to be there.
Was I sad? Yes I was.
Did I have the right to be? Probably not.”
“It is not like we were in any form of relationship or you asked me out. I probably was just in my feelings.”
At this point, Golden paused and laughed at her stupidity. Then she continued.
“My brother pulled down the video. He didn't want me to be sad. He knew I had feelings for you.
You knew I had feelings for you. I thought that although you might not have liked me as much as I liked you, you at least liked me a little.
But I guess I was wrong. So guess what Linda did after the video was pulled down?”
Allan felt like someone was kicking him in the guts. Why did her using “liked” offend him like she didn't like him anymore?
“She sent me pictures. Like she wanted me to know who was really important to you.” Golden continued.
“Oh trust me, I got the message loud and clear. I've got to give it to Linda, she does know how to mark her territory.” Golden laughed sarcastically.
“I wasn't even worthy enough to have you speak to me in public so what was I really expecting?
“I was pathetic Fatty Nixon you only spoke to in the estate. While Linda was Queen Bee you let grind you and even kiss.” Her words got sharper.
Allan screamed for Golden to stop in his head but didn't say anything. He wore a blank expression to hide what he was truly feeling.
“You know I wasn't even the one that blocked you.” Golden said earning a shocked look from Allan.
“Alex was the one that actually blocked you. She blocked Linda also just so I coupd stay sane.”
“Then I return to Florida and guess the Allan I returned to?
“The same aloof Allan I had left. The Allan who only spoke to me when others weren't around.
The Allan who treated me like someone he didn't want to be caught in public with.”
“I... Allan moved while Golden was still talking. He grabbed her jaw and kissed her to silence her.
He had heard enough and couldn't take it anymore. He kissed her and swallowed whatever she wanted to say.
“Enough Golden. Please stop talking.” Allan said briefly before he captured her mouth again and continued kissing her.
Golden hadn't expected Allan to kiss her. Her head told her it wasn't right, but her body told a different story.
She slowly closed her eyes and let him kiss her. She had given in to her body.
His lips tasted minty, probably from the mint she was sure he had taken.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and deepened the kiss. Her body had betrayed her already so she decided to go with the flow.
