Chapter 66: How I met Cheny
The ladies hurried upstairs while the men stayed back in the living room to discuss.
Upstairs, Alex decided to ask Golden what they were talking about about before they came in.
“The bathroom is right through that door Rosalie. Everything you need is in there.” Alex said pointing towards the bathroom door.
“Ermm can I ask a favor?” Rosalie said sounding hesitant.
“Cheny didn't say anything about a formal dinner. He just said he wanted me to meet his family.” Rosalie tried not knowing how to ask.
Alex immediately caught on.
“Don't worry I've got you.
We should be around the same size. I'll get you something to wear.”
Alex immediately went to her closet to look for something Rosalie could wear.
Immediately the bathroom door closed, Golden turned and looked at Alex.
“Cheny. That's an interesting choice. It feels weird though. I'm used to calling him Professor Chen.
I didn't know your dad was into this kinda thing” Golden said trying and looking confused.
“Neither did I” Alex said laughing softly. “I like her though. She fits in perfectly.
She's totally different from my mum and I think that's exactly what my dad needs.”
Soon the bathroom opened and Rosalie came out in a bathrobe with wet hair.
“Sorry I couldn't resist. The water was so cool and I just had to go under.
I could have stayed in there for hours, but then I remembered we kept some men waiting downstairs.” Rosalie said looking and feeling refreshed.
“Rosalie this is my best friend Golden Nixon. Golden this is Rosalie, my dad's girlfriend.” Alex did a quick introduction.
“We better move this on quickly if not Nana would march up here and drag us by the ears” Alex said quickly putting on her dress.
“Golden help Rosalie with her hair and be as quick as you can. We have just five minutes before Nana shows up at this door.”
“Please sit.” Golden led Rosalie to the vanity table and quickly plugged in the blow dryer and put it on full blast.
“This might burn a little, but bear with it. Nana Chen isn't one to be trifled with. Golden said as she began drying Rosalie’s hair.
“Cheny did say she's special.” Rosalie said as she quickly applied lotion to her skin and put on the skirt Alex had prepared for her.
It was a two piece crop top and long flowing skirt.
“That's one way to put it” Alex said chuckling.
Golden did a fantastic job with Rosalie’s long brown hair. She blow dried it and using a curling iron, she curled the hair quickly.
She then used a brush to take out the tight curls, leaving the hair wavy and falling to her shoulders.
Alex was wearing a silk halterneck maxi dress and her hair was styled in a high ponytail.
Her facial features were pronounced and one could easily get lost in her blue eyes.
Her eyes were a nod to her mother's linage and she had often been bullied as a child because of it.
Soon the ladies went down to join the rest of the family for dinner.
Nana Chen saw Alex and nodded in approval for the way she looked.
Fab was momentarily stunned. He felt she looked runaway worthy.
Varney was lost for a few seconds until Fab nudged him.
This was the first time he was seeing her style her hair this way. And if not for the people around, he would have done something dangerous to her.
Nana Chen invited everyone to the dining room. She had sent Xiner and Jingli to the park.
There was a children's Christmas party going on there. So it was the perfect excuse to get them out of the house.
Varney pulled out a chair beside him for Alex, Fab did same for Golden, and Chen did the same for Rosalie, and then his mother.
Nana Chen was sitted at the head of the table and she had Varney and Alex to her right. And Golden and Fab to her left.
While Chen sat at the other end of the table and had Rosalie to his right.
They said grace and started eating.
“Wow Nana this food is really amazing, I really love the turkey ” Fab said as he took a bite of his turkey.
“Thank's Fab, I could pack you some on your way home.” Nana said with a smile.
“Really?” Fab lit up like a Christmas light. “Thanks.”
“You haven't introduced your girlfriend to us Chen.” Nana said pointing her fork at her son.
“Well mum, this is my girlfriend Rosalie Coleman. She's a Professor of Biotechnology.
Rosalie this is my mum Dr. Xinyi Chen, that's Fabulous Lawrence Golden's boyfriend and Alex's best friend,
Golden Nixon, Alex's best friend also and that over there is Varney Nixon Golden's brother and recently found out Alex's boyfriend.
Everyone, this is my girlfriend Rosalie Coleman.” Chen introduced.
“Jezz dad. Nana asked you to introduce your girlfriend not everyone else. Way to go dad.” Alex said rolling her eyes.
“Well I just did everyone a favor.” Chen said shrugging his shoulder and going back to his meal.
“Hello everyone. It's so nice to meet you all.” Rosalie greeted with a smile.
There was a chorus hi from everyone.
“So how did you two meet?” Nana asked taking a sip of water.
“Well we...” Chen began but Nana cut him off.
“I was talking to Rosalie not you Chen”
“Well I met Cheny at...”
Nana choked on her water when she heard “Cheny”
“This should be interesting.” Alex said concealing her laughter and offering Nana water.
“She's choking on water and you are offering her more water” Fab glared at Alex before reaching out and rubbing Nana's back.
He wasn't expecting “Cheny” either. In fact none of them were but he had to put on an act so Rosalie didn't feel embarrassed.
“Thank you dear.” Nana said to Fab and then turned to Rosalie, “Please continue.”
“I met Cheny at a convention. During one of our sessions I noticed he kept staring at me.
I noticed he did that quite a lot and whenever I caught him, he looked away like he wasn't doing anything.
The convention lasted for one week. By the fifth day I got tired of this weird handsome man staring at me so I approached him.” Rosalie explained casually.
“Wow way to go Cheny. Stare at a lady for five days straight.” Alex said as she looked at her dad mockingly.
“So what did you tell him when you approached him?” Nana Chen was very interested in where the story was going.
