Chapter 135 Former enemy, new protector
Chapter 135: Former Enemy, New Protector
The party continued in full swing and everyone was having a great time.
At some point, the DJ asked them to play a little game. They had a dance battle. It was really fun and people were breaking out dance moves. There were screams and cheers and burst laughter.
Next they decided to go down memory lane and bring back musical chair. Chairs were set up, one chair less than the number of participants.
The birthday boy decided to join in the fun and people could be seen struggling to catch a seat when the music stopped.
It was fun seeing people act like kids, some falling off a chair and others not even bothering to fight for a chair.
Trey eventually won the musical chair game. It was his favorite party game as a kid and even as an adult, he still won it.
Another fun kid game they played at the party was burst the pinatas. A pinata filled with chocolate and candy was tied to a tree and people were blindfolded and allowed to swing at it.
They also played the liquor game and some guys competed in who could finish a bottle of spirits the fastest.
Allan joined in the fun and played tequila shots game. He lost to someone else who managed to finish drinking 10 shots of tequila fast.
Allan was on his eighth shot when the guy drank his tenth shot.
It was 12 am already and the party was slowly winding down.
Linda was tired already and chose to rest by the swing under a tree in the garden.
She was waiting for her date. He had told her they would be leaving in another 45 minutes.
She watched people dance. The DJ was playing a slow music track and couples were dancing.
Some were making out in a corner, some were chatting. Some were seated and observing just like her.
She noticed Lindsay drag Allan to the dance floor. He looked a little tipsy and was laughing as she dragged him to dance.
She had her back to his chest and put his arms around her waist and midsection. She rested her head on his shoulders and closed her eyes.
Slowly they began to dance and although Linda couldn't pick out what they were saying because she was far away from them, she noticed that they were laughing.
Lindsay slowly rocked Allan. The music changed and she, like every other lady in the dance floor began twerking on their partners.
Allan held her waist and allowed her grind against him. But after a while he pulled her off the dance floor and they went to sit to catch their breath.
Linda caught everything on camera and she had a complicated look on her face.
It wasn't certain yet what she wanted to do with all the videos and pictures she had taken.
Linda eventually left the party by 2 am. She took a bath immediately after she got home and went straight to bed.
She had been sleepy on her way back, but the moment she climbed into her bed, the sleep disappeared.
She picked her phone and fiddled with it. She was caught in a dilemma of what to do with all the footage she had.
A few months after they resumed med school, Linda noticed that Golden wasn't in class.
She knew Golden to be serious and missing class for about two months wasn't normal, more so because she was seeing Alex and Fab around.
And whenever those two were around, Golden wasn't far away. So it was strange.
By the third month of not seeing her around, she summoned courage and approached Fab.
Golden couldn't be referred to as her friend, but somehow she had become a driving force.
She had learned from Fab that Golden had gotten a scholarship to study at Northbridge and she wouldn't be attending their school anymore.
She was initially shocked and later impressed. Northbridge was an elite school and it was attended by the best of the best.
It wasn't surprising that Golden had gotten in. If anything, Linda felt she deserved it. With Golden out of Florida, maybe she had a chance to finally be the brightest star in the room.
“Out of sight, is out of mind,” they say. With Golden being away, Linda's jealousy slowly ebbed away.
It had already started to fade away by the time they started their final exams and they had the bathroom encounter.
It further dissipated when they shared a stage together during the graduation ceremony.
Although they couldn't still be considered friends, they weren't exactly enemies.
In one of her chats with Fab, Linda actually asked if Golden and Allan were involved seeing that they were no longer on the same continent.
Fab had told her that they were indeed dating and that they had been dating for a while.
He probably told her to deter her from having designs on Allan. She assured him that she was past it and that she had grown past all that she did.
She asked for Golden's new number. She wanted to call and congratulate her on getting into Northbridge.
Ironically, it was Alex that ended up giving her Golden's number. Maybe she saw Linda's sincerity and believed her when she said she had moved past her previous behavior.
Alex had warned Linda not to try anything funny or she might just end up in a body bag, and somehow Linda believed that she wasn't joking.
It was funny how Linda who always looked for the slightest opportunity to hurt Golden was now suddenly looking out for her.
From what she had learned from Fab, Golden and Allan were in a relationship but here he was flirting with another girl.
Linda laughed at herself for being on the defensive. She had despised Golden for five years and did everything in the books to bring her down.
Suddenly she was angry on her behalf and mad at her boyfriend for being intimate with another lady.
Same boyfriend she tried to hook up with at some point and taunted Golden with.
Life did have a twisted sense of humor. Who would have thought that she would be in this position one day?
