Chapter 134 How he thinks
Chapter 134: How He Thinks
“Have you gotten it Al?” Lindsay asked, pulling Allan's mind back from where it wandered off to.
“Just give me a second, I've almost got it.” He said and removed the piece of cloth that was blocking the zipper.
The distance between them was dangerously close and her vanilla and caramel scent slowly drifted into his nose.
Allan knew that he should step away from Lindsay. His brain told him to take a step back, but his body responded differently.
He helped her zip the dress up. He placed a kiss on her shoulder when he was done.
Lindsay gasped when she felt the hot kiss on her shoulder. She was always the one making the first move. This was the first time Allan had made a move on her.
She turned and faced him. A look of surprise and longing in her eyes. She bit her bottom lip gently as she looked at him.
That was the push Allan needed. He immediately drew her close and kissed her.
Lindsay closed her eyes and sunk into the kiss. She let Allan set the pace. She had been longing for this for a long time and she didn't want to break it.
They slowly backed up until they hit a couch and Allan pulled them down onto the couch.
As he kissed her, there was a battle raging inside him. His body wanted this, but his brain told him it was wrong.
Sparks had been flying between them for a while now and he had been pretending not to notice and refused to act on impulse.
Maybe if he had a little taste, he could get it out of his system. Maybe if he indulged a little, he could satisfy both of their longings and desires.
Reasoning finally won and he broke off the kiss. He took a deep breath and pulled her into a hug.
When they had both steadied their emotions he looked at her calmly and apologized.
“I'm sorry Lin, I shouldn't have kissed you. I'm sorry for overstepping my bounds.” Allan said calmly.
“Tell me the truth Al, do you like me, even a little?” Lin asked, trying not to be sad that he apologized for something so beautiful that had happened.
Allan noticed how hard Lin was trying to control her emotions and knew that how he handled it would either make or mar their relationship moving forward.
He didn't want to hurt her. They had been friends for more than 5 years and he had always known that she had feelings for him.
Before his excuse for not reacting to her feelings was because she was Trey's girl. Then later because he didn't think he was worthy of her.
He had finally discovered he had feelings for her two years ago after she and Trey had broken up, but by then he was already in a relationship with Golden.
He decided then to bury his feelings and remain good friends with her. But in the past one year that Golden moved to England, and he remained in close contact with Lindsay, he felt those feelings begin to resurface again.
“Let me be honest with you Lin, I do like you a whole lot. What's there not to like about you?” Allan said holding her hands gently.
“It's just that I can't pursue the feelings I have for you I'm sorry. I would rather remain your friend that lose you completely.”
“Is there someone else? Is that the reason you wouldn't let what you feel for me blossom?” Lindsay asked, happy that her feelings weren't one sided. And then sad because Allan wasn't ready to let what they had bloom.
“Something like that,” he replied. Allan still didn't outrightly say he was in a relationship. He only implied it.
He had a unique way of thinking. He didn't introduce Golden to his friends because he didn't want them judging her. In his head, he was protecting her.
Now he wasn't telling Lindsay outrightly that he was dating someone because he didn't want her thinking that she wasn't as good as the person he was dating.
To him, he was trying to protect her and not allow her to start comparing or competing with the person in his heart.
It was just his personality. He never really actually thought about what the ladies in his life truly wanted, not because he was misogynistic, but because he cared the wrong way.
“It's fine Al,” Lindsay said, finally smiling. “We are cool. At least you've checked one thing off my bucket list and it's good to know you have some sort of feelings for me.
I would rather remain your friend than lose you completely. Anyways I think we should get going or we would truly be late.” Lindsay said standing up and giving Allan a hand.
They got to the party and it was already in full swing.
The party was held at the back garden and it was decorated with colored lights, giving it a soft and warm glow.
The DJ was set up by one corner and music could be heard blasting from the speakers.
There was a barbeque man grilling some chicken and turkey and people were seen trooping to his stand to get some.
Lindsay set the cake on the cake stand and went over to greet the birthday boy and hand over his gift.
“Happy birthday my love, I wish you the best of everything.” Lindsay said as she gave Trey a hug and a peck on the cheek.
“Thanks babes. I see you came in with my boy. Are you guys now official?” Trey asked, looking towards Allan's direction.
Lindsay followed his gaze and stared briefly at Allan with a smile. “Not yet. At least now I know he likes me too. Let's give it time, he would be mine eventually.”
Allan approached them and pulled Trey into a bro hug. “Happy birthday man. You are a year wiser today.
This party is lit! Good job setting it up.” Allan handed him a gift bag and he and Lindsay left to go get something to eat when someone else came up to greet Trey.
Linda stepped into the party and took in the ambiance. The set up was really nice and classy.
She went up with her date to wish Trey a happy birthday and handed him a gift bag.
She left the guys to talk and went about greeting other people.
It was a small gathering and the people around knew themselves somehow.
She saw Clara with some other ladies and went up to say hi. She chatted with them and at the same time scanned the environment for Allan and Lindsay.
She finally spotted them by the barbeque stand chatting and laughing to a private joke.
They were with some other people and there wasn't anything odd about it.
Occasionally, she would see Lindsay put her hands on Allan's shoulder, or Allan hold her waist.
Still there was nothing awkward about it. She decided to keep observing, the night was still young and anything could happen.
