Chapter 130: Captured on Camera
The humble nature of the people of Northbridge was one of the things Golden liked and appreciated.
There was no pressure to impress or outdo anyone. She fit in just perfectly.
Riding a bicycle was also good exercise for Golden. She had lost a few pounds and she looked trimmer.
Alex had been shocked when she saw her during Christmas. Fab couldn't help but spin her around a couple of times.
He had asked her if she had been going to the gym because the transformation was mind blowing.
She didn't go to the gym. The stress of school and the constant cycling everyday had worked wonders.
She went from being a size 18 when she arrived at Northbridge, to being a size 16 by the time her friends saw her.
At the moment, she was a size 14. And this was the healthiest and the most beautiful Golden had ever felt. She wasn't Fatty Nixon anymore.
“Have you ever heard of Nixon Global Holdings?” Gigi said as the waiter left with their orders.
Kayla quickly googled it and she had a shocking look. Elsa and Grace picked up their phones to google it too and were stunned with the information they found.
“Girl, you are literally a billionaire.” Kayla said in her perfect English accent. “Why are you on a scholarship then?
You can afford to pay your fees 10 times over.”
“Well I got in because of my good grades, not because I couldn't afford it.” Golden replied.
“Oh yeah that's true. Zaya did mention that you were even Valedictorian in your set.” Elsa said.
Zaya and Elsa were cousins. Zaya assignment Golden the same apartment with Elsa so she could help her settle in.
“Your brother is dashing. Is he taken?” Grace asked.
“Yes he is Grace. He is engaged to my best friend Alex. Sorry.”
“Your brother owns Varney's Tech World right?” Kayla asked surprised.
“Yes why do you ask?”
“It really is a small world you know. My twin brother Kyle works in one of his subsidiaries in London.”
“You don't say? Wow!” Golden said amazed. “A small world indeed.
“My brother works for your brother, and I am friends and flatmates with the owner of VTW.
I bet my brother would go nuts if I tell him I'm friends with the sister of the owner of his company.” Kayla said excitedly.
The atmosphere was harmonious and the girls chatted as they dined. Golden opened up a bit more about herself and told them a bit about Florida and why she chose to come to England.
Kayla and Grace took turns to talk about what it was like growing up in London.
Elsa talked about her life in California and the big apple. They girls asked why she never considered Hollywood since she practically lived in Hollywood.
She responded that living in Hollywood was probably the reason why she wasn't so thrilled with it. She grew up seeing stars close up.
She had family members that were in Hollywood. Her dad and uncle were directors. Her mum ran a talent agency but she didn't fancy the spotlight.
She attended a British boarding secondary school and decided to continue in Northbridge.
After their meal, they decided to go shopping. They went to a boutique and bought a few things.
Golden pleaded with the girls to let her pay. This was the first time she had come shopping with people since she arrived England and it made her feel alive.
She ended up spending just a few thousand pounds because the girls wouldn't let her splurge.
It was 10 pm by the time the girls got back to campus. And because of their shopping bags, they asked the Uber to drop them in front of their dorm.
They decided they would go back for their bikes in the morning.
Golden was happy and immediately texted Allan when she got into her room.
It was about 3 am in Florida and she didn't want to call him just in case he was sleeping.
She took a picture of the things she had gotten and sent them to him.
She had seen a T-shirt with a portrait of guy with dreadlocks and she had bought it because it reminded her of him.
Then she changed into her bathrobe and went to take a shower. She shared bathroom with Grace, while Kayla and Elsa shared the other bathroom.
Grace was using their bathroom so Golden knocked on both Elsa and Kayla's door and asked if she could use their bathroom.
They gave her a go ahead and she went into their bathroom. As she sat on the toilet and did her business, she reflected in the day and her life in Northbridge.
Here she was, taking a bath in a shared bathroom in a shared apartment and it didn't feel strange at all.
She felt rather peaceful. She felt she was where she was meant to be.

Allan was preparing to go out to get the drinks for the party. He got home really late last night and turned off his phone so he could sleep.
He turned on the phone and saw a message from Golden informing him that she had gotten home.
He also saw the pictures of the things she sent and chuckled when he saw the picture of the shirt.
He knew that she must have gotten it because of him and tried to imagine her facial expression when she was picking the shirt.
It was Saturday so Allan decided to take his bike out for a spin. He drove his car during the week and rode his bike on weekends.
He got to the mall and called Lindsay. He saw her sitting by jewelry store. He dropped the call when she had noticed him.
Lindsay was excited to see Allan. She hadn't seen him in about a month because she traveled out of the state for work.
Immediately he got to her, she threw herself into his open arms and kissed him.
Allan broke the kiss immediately and used his hand to wipe off the lip gloss from his lips. “We talked about this Lin, you can't go about kissing me whenever you see me, and certainly not in public.”
“I'm so sorry. I couldn't help myself. I haven't seen you in over a month and I missed you terribly.” Lindsay replied shyly.
While the two were catching up, they weren't aware that someone had caught their whole exchange on video.
