Chapter 131 Shadows lurking
Chapter 131: Shadows Lurking
Allan and Lindsay went about their shopping. He helped her pick out a birthday gift for Trey.
They went to the liquor store next to get the drinks for the party. Trey had decided to throw an all white party to mark his birthday.
He was having the party at his house and had invited some of his friends from OCU.
Since they were in the mall, Trey called and asked that Allan picked up the cake too.
After getting everything they needed for the party, Lindsay dragged Allan to one of the boutiques to help her pick out a dress for the party.
“Please Al, help me pick out an outfit. I don't have anything to wear for tonight.” Lindsay said pulling Allan towards a boutique.
“I don't believe you don't have anything to wear. Women say this all the time and half of the time, their closets are always filled to the brim with clothes.” Allan said shaking his head.
“Just accompany me okay?” Lindsay said with pleading eyes and dragged Allan into the store.
While in the store, Lindsay tried on a couple of dresses and asked for Allan's opinion.
It was a very warm atmosphere. A lady trying out clothes, while the guy waits in the waiting area as she puts up a show for him.
While all this was going on, neither of them noticed the shadow lurking, observing, and capturing their every move.
Allan smiled and helped Lindsay pick out a couple more dresses and soon it was time to pay and leave.
He decided to pay for the dresses and they left the store together.
When Allan was leaving the house, he did not factor in the fact that he might have to carry a cake if not, he wouldn't have come out with his bike.
As they approached the cake shop, Lindsay noticed he was lost in thought and asked what the problem was.
Allan explained his dilemma and she offered to carry the cake since she drove. She would bring the cake to the party and he didn't need to worry about it.
Allan was relieved. They went to the cake shop to pick up the cake and decided to sit and have some ice cream before heading out.
Lindsay told Allan about her work trip and how it went down. She was really excited talking about work.
She told him about her plans to start a pageant agency to help young girls and ladies that were considering going into pageants.
While abroad, she got a few modeling gigs and she was considering modeling as a side job.
Allan watched Lindsay talk about work and everything she has been up to with so much passion.
He was happy to see that she was living her dream. They had come a long way and he had gradually watched Lindsay mature into a young lady.
There was a bit of ice cream smeared on Lindsay's face, just below her mouth.
Before Allan could control himself, he reached across the table and used his finger to clean the ice cream from her jaw.
That should have been an okay gesture, but then he licked the cream off his finger.
“There was a bit of cream on your jaw. You still eat like a kid.” Allan said as he licked the cream off his hands before using a napkin to clean his hand.
Lindsay smiled bashfully. She felt butterflies dancing in her tummy . She picked up her spoon and smeared some ice cream on Allan's nose.
In the past two years, they had gotten closer and although Allan hadn't said anything to her, Lindsay could feel that his feelings for her weren't just that of ordinary friends.
His words said one thing, but his actions said another thing. So she decided to take her time and slowly make him fall in love with her.
She hadn't seen Nixon in a while and figured she probably wasn't in Florida anymore. Lindsay decided to make use of her absence to nurture her relationship with Allan.
“Hey what was that for? You don't want to start a food fight do you?” Allan asked as he tried to clean the ice cream that Lindsay had put on his nose.
Lindsay chuckled and grabbed the hand that Allan used to clean off the ice cream.
Allan was surprised and waited to see what she was going to do. He saw the mischievous look in her eyes and wondered what she was up to.
Lindsay brought the hand to her mouth and licked the cream off. “There. Much better,” she said and continued taking her ice cream like nothing happened.
Allan slowly took his hand back and wiped it off with a napkin. He smiled and shook his head. Lindsay was getting bolder.
He couldn't blame her though, he started it. When he felt her lips on his finger, there was a lightning bolt to his heart.
He had always had feelings for her deep down that he buried and never let surface.
Recently, he felt those feelings resurfacing. And as much as he wanted to deny them, he couldn't help himself.
While both Lindsay and Allan were lost in their little world, they didn't notice the shadow lurking, documenting their every move.
They soon picked the cake, paid and left. Allan carried the things they got to Lindsay's car and helped her load it.
“I'll see you later Lin. You have our cake so don't be late.”
“Hey! I'm a lady. It's in my fashion to be late. But how about we do it this way. Why don't you stop by my place and pick me up so I don't get there late?”
Allan thought for a while and agreed. “That's not a bad idea you know. I'll be over at your place in an hour. Please try to be ready by the time I get there.”
“I promise I'll try,” Lindsay said not meaning it. “Okay I will be ready by the time you get to my door.” She said when she saw Allan's warning look.
Allan gave her a hug and a friendly peck on the cheek before turning around and leaving.
