Chapter 111 A different kind of night
Chapter 111: A Different Kind of Night
Golden didn't know how she managed to get home without getting pulled over by the cops because she was driving at a really high speed.
She needed the breeze to take away her worries.
It was just 10 pm and Alex and Varney were not home yet. And although she knew that Fab would come running if she called him, she didn't want to.
She couldn't always be dependent on her friends. They too had their own lives and it was about time she began handling her business by herself without dragging everyone else into it.
Just as she got into the shower to wash away the day's stress, she heard her phone ringing.
The phone stopped ringing after a while so Golden decided to stay under the shower.
She let the water run down and wash away the tears she finally let fall. This was the last time she was going to cry for Allan.
He had apologized but what was he sorry for? Was he sorry for kissing Lindsay or was he sorry that he had been exposed?
And what did he mean by it didn't mean anything? The kiss or Lindsay?
It didn't mean anything to whom?
She wasn't going to let him gaslight her into thinking it was okay. He needed to man up and take a stance.
Maybe him not acknowledging her was a good thing after all. Imagine telling everyone that they were dating and then going on to kiss another lady?
Golden stayed in the shower until the water turned cold. She had spent about 20 minutes in the shower before coming out.
She went into the room and picked up her phone. She saw a message from Alex telling her she would be home late.
She and Varney were going on a date and she asked her not to wait up for them.
Just as she was about to drop the phone, another message entered. It was from an unknown number.
Golden was skeptical about opening the message. The last time she had opened a message from an unknown number, it had been Linda sending her photos and videos of Allan and Lindsay.
Golden wasn't sure she had the strength for any of Linda's shenanigans not after the day she had just had.
She decided to ignore it and was about to go into her closet when her phone rang again.
She noticed it was the same number that was calling her so she decided to pick the call out of curiosity.
“Hello Golden, is this a bad time to call?” The caller said.
“Ermm sorry please who is this? I don't have this number.”
“Oh sorry my bad. This is Alex, Alex Mendez.”
“Oh Dr. Alex, hi. How did you get my number?” Golden looked at her phone shocked by the caller.
Dr. Alex was the last person she expected would call her. But she was grateful for the distraction.
“Well you wouldn't believe it if I told you. I know it's kinda late and you are probably in bed already. I was just wondering if you would like to come out for some coffee?”
“I will understand if you can't come, look I'm sorry I called...” Alex stammered.
“It's fine Alex. I actually don't mind. Besides I could really use some company right now.” Golden said immediately.
“Oh that's great then. If you send me your address, I can come pick you up or I can send you an address and you meet me there.”
“I'll text you my address. I should be ready in 20 minutes.”
Golden ended the call and proceeded to her closet to pick something out. She didn't know what to wear and would rather be in her bathrobe.
She had made a commitment at the spur of the moment, now she had to deal with it.
She decided to go for a casual gown and a jacket because it was a bit cold outside.
She quickly dried her hair and did some lazy curls which she let fall to her back.
Although she was tired, she still decided to do a light makeup. She added a bit of powder, lined her eyes to make it pop a little and then applied a little gloss on her lips.
Just as she was putting on her sandals, she got a call from the security that her guest had arrived.
Golden finished up her look with a light floral scent and headed downstairs.
Golden spotted a metalic black Lexus Rz 2025 in the garage was quite impressed.
She figured Alex was rich. The first time she had bumped into him, she had noticed his wristwatch and because she was a collector, she knew it wasn't cheap.
She didn't judge people based on their bank accounts but she knew how to appreciate good things, most especially if it were things that interests her.
She was a car lover and had seen this particular model before but had been too lazy to go and check it out.
Tonight presented the perfect opportunity to check out it's features and maybe she would decide to add it to her collection.
When Golden had sent Alex her address, he was shocked. Until this night, he hadn't really figured out who she was.
In fact he contacted her on impulse. He wasn't even expecting her to accept his invitation out.
He was glad when she obliged knowing that she had a boyfriend and it was already late to hangout with someone she barely knew.
When he got to the Estate, its architectural layout left a deep impression and out of curiosity, he decided to Google the Nixon name.
He was amazed at his findings. Golden was the young heiress of one of the richest, if not the richest family in the state.
Yet, she didn't behave like it at all. She was quite humble and reserved. She carried herself with a certain grace and sophistication that wasn't annoying.
Alex got out of the car as he saw her approaching and something in his heart clicked.
