Find Some Answers

Again Luna Megan's POV

I'm the only one who can get Lori to see the error of her ways.

Having a crush on someone is no problem, but hurting others out of jealousy is unforgivable. And Louise's relationship with her mate suffers immensely from the pain Lori has caused the Beta female.

Still, I can't imagine how an introverted girl could have defeated the highly trained daughter of a Head Warrior. Louise is definitely not an average opponent. She is extremely talented, and no she-wolf in Eclipse Howl has ever been able to defeat her. And the fact that Lori managed to almost kill her means that my friend is skilled.

"Alvarez, I'm going to Crescent Moon to see for myself. Maybe I can talk to Cliara in private and she will be able to recall some names. There must be something that can prove Lori's part".

Alvarez pulls his face, not really warming to my plan. He doesn't want me out of the pack before I'm marked, the possessiveness of an Alpha towards his mate dulling his senses.

"Why don't you drop the matter? I am sure that time will bring a solution. Zalev and Louise are mates, they are in a slump now from which they will surely get out".

"I want to know the truth. Not that I distrust Louise, but before I turn to Lori, I want more evidence or clues. I can't have it from hearsay". He finally gives in and I jump out of bed.

"Are you leaving today itself? That's fast. Wait until I have informed Alpha Kertin of your arrival. You are the Luna of the Blue Blood, always remember that".

I head for the bathroom, take a long bath and when I return to the bedroom, Alvarez has disappeared. I put on dark blue jeans and a bright red top. Then I pick up my handbag and check that all my personal items are in it. Including the credit card my mate gave me. I want to bring some presents for Cliara to gain her trust.

I walk to the dining hall for breakfast. There I find Zalev and Louise sitting next to each other, eating, but not exchanging a word. I quickly share a look of understanding with Louise before turning to the Beta.

"Zalev, I am leaving for Crescent Moon to visit Alpha female Cliara. As you know, she had an accident a few weeks ago in which she lost her memory and one eye. I want to offer her my sympathy in person. The pack has friendly relations with both Eclipse Howl and Blue Blood, and we must keep them warm."

Zalev turns to me immediately. "I will come with you. Alvarez has not yet appointed a Head Warrior and the Luna cannot leave the pack on her own. Besides, I could use a change of scenery." Louise's face grows sour, my heart shrinks from her grief. It is clear that Zalev wants to get away from her and offers to accompany me.

Perhaps they need this break. Mates cannot be separated for long and if they start to miss each other, it will fix their relationship. There is clearly a lack of communication between them, as well as a large dose of jealousy.

"That would help me a lot, Zalev. I want to go to the mall first to buy some presents. And then straight to Crescent Moon."

Alvarez steps in and sits down beside me at the head of the table. He picks me up and sits me on his lap. His heavenly scent fills me and I cannot resist taking his head between my hands.

Gently, I bite his lower lip before plunging my tongue deep into his mouth. Alvarez moans, his hand gripping my shoulders to hold me close.

"Hey, take a room. Have mercy on my old eyes."

We jerk apart and I hide my face in Alvarez's neck out of embarrassment. Luna Serene chuckles teasingly as she sits down to our right. "Don't be shy, Meg. It's always like that in this packhouse. When Zalev and Louise are done feuding over nothing, it will be unbearable for me here again," she sighs.

Louise turns red, while Zalev continues to gaze ahead.

"Am I to understand that you are heading to Crescent Moon on a courtesy visit? That's very thoughtful of you, Meg. This is how we keep our friends close. You are already a real asset to the pack." I blush at the compliment and slide back to my seat.

"Alpha Kertin is expecting you. He was pleased to hear of your arrival and says it will be good for his daughter to talk to a woman her own age. She has withdrawn from the pack as the perpetrator of the attack has not yet been found. Her brother, Zane, does not trust anyone close to his sister," Alvarez informed me with a telling look.

"I would be happy to help. I met Cliara a few times, but we were young then. I hope she still remembers me," I tell him. "Zalev has offered to accompany me and I am grateful for that."

Everyone nods, and a moment later I am standing on the veranda, saying goodbye to my mate. Alvarez has appointed three more warriors to go with us. Zalev and I take the Bugatti, while the three men ride in the SUV, which has enough room to carry the gifts.

"Come back soon, my Luna. I will wait for you here." Alvarez kisses me lightly and, after waving to Luna Serene and Louise, we drive off.

Zalev is at the wheel while I sit in the passenger seat.

Half an hour later, we pulled into the shopping center. There I bought some lotions, perfumes and a beauty kit for Cliara. I know she has been fashion-conscious since childhood and always had a beauty case with her.

With all my purchases loaded, we headed for Crescent Moon.

Full of anticipation, I look out the window, hoping to find some answers at my destination...
