One More Victim

Luna Megan's POV again

Louise's words kept echoing in my head.

It sounded decidedly unreal that Lori' was capable of inflicting so much pain on a fellow pack member. Jealousy is a destructive emotion and can drive a person to irreparable acts. But Lori has no such aura. She stepped in for me when I had already given up on my mate and saved my relationship with Alvarez by personally intervening. For the sake of my happiness, she had the DNA test done and even traveled to Crescent Moon herself to sort it out. Lori is a caring person, hatred and pain are not in her character.

After her return to Eclipse Howl, she kept Romero at a distance, even though they had been close as toddlers.

Only when Aniyan spilled the beans did she grudgingly acknowledge it. And when she was pregnant, she refused to confront the Alpha and Luna about it. In fact, I was very surprised to learn that she had slept with Romero, even though he was not her destiny. Being frivolous is not her thing either. And yet, she let herself fall for him. And then she suddenly turned into this chatterbox after arriving in Blue Blood.

But I did hear her say on at least one occasion that Romero had made her a promise. Although she never went into detail, I now understand from Louise that he had promised to make her his Luna. And would she really have eliminated all her rivals for that? That sounds like a psychopath in one of those documentaries about serial killers. Lori is definitely not a psychopath, maybe a bit fanatical.

Lost in thought, I enter the Alpha Suite.

It is only when I bump into Alvarez's sturdy body that I notice he has returned from work early. Immediately I catch a whiff of his delicious musky scent that I am so addicted to. I snuggle up against his chest and feel his hand running through my hair.

"Alvarez. It feels so wonderful to be with you, with your arms around me like this. I've been giving you a hard time these past few weeks, trying to seduce you all the time. I won't lie, I long for you, I need you like the air I breathe," I begin lowly. "But I promise you that from now on I will wait until you are ready to mate with me. I can't wait for that day, but I will be patient, my love. But don't turn away from me, it hurts so much when I think you might not find me attractive."

At first, I felt him tense up, but then his chest vibrated and I knew he was laughing.

Content as a kitten, I nestle closer to him. "Yes, it's hard to stay away from you all the time. You're so damn tempting, all those sexy gowns of yours at night make me crazy with lust. Baby, it's you for me, don't be afraid," he whispers in my ear. "But I want to make our mating unforgettable for you. We will become one under the blessing of the Moon Goddess and mark each other as equals. God, I can't wait for that day. I love you, Meg". He sounds deeply emotional and I know his words come from the heart.

I gasp as he starts to kiss my neck and nibble at my skin. I get goosebumps all over as I feel his hard cock digging into my belly. And then I know I'm the one he wants, this panty-less, muscular Alpha is all mine.

Lifting my head, I look into a pair of eyes with an animistic need. And then our lips meet in a soul searing kiss, his ultimate declaration of love for me. I moan into his mouth as I feel wetness spreading between my legs.

"I love you more, my handsome Alpha," I chuckle as we finally pull apart to catch our breath. He takes me in his strong arms and leads me to our bed. And as usual, we give each other so much pleasure until we fall exhausted between the sheets.

When we regain our breath, I decide to tell Alvarez about Louise. His hand caresses my hair as I lie contentedly on his warm chest.

"Baby, something is bothering me and I need your help to solve it." And then I tell him what Louise has confided in me about Lori. And also my own experience of Lori standing by me for years.

"I want justice for Louise, but at the same time, I want to keep my friendship with Lori. I am Louise's Luna and she is obviously still shaken by what she has been through. But now that Lori is your cousin and has family ties to Blue Blood, she can't do anything herself. And her mate is also your Beta".

"I understand what you mean. It's all complicated. Louise's position is not really in her favor when it comes to getting justice. But maybe the Moon Goddess has brought her to this exact point to forgive and be grateful for what she has now," Alvarez suggests. "In another case, if there weren't so many conflicts of interest, there would be a war between Eclipse Howl and Blue Blood."

"It's so unfair to her. And now Zalev suspects her of wanting to compete with Lori. Louise wants a pup. Their relationship has deteriorated terribly in the last few weeks".

A deep wrinkle appears on his face.

"One more thing, Meg. I want you to be as calm as possible when I tell you this. There is panic in Crescent Moon. A few months ago, the Alpha female Cliara was attacked in her bedroom. The culprit is still unknown. She was horribly mutilated and lost her memory. The doctors were able to heal her, but she lost an eye. My suspicions point to Lori. She was there at the same time as Romero to do the DNA tests".

I almost fell out of bed in shock. If Alvarez hadn't tightened his arm around me, I'd be lying on the floor right now. "Say what!!! Cliara, the beautiful daughter of Alpha Kertin and Luna Lily? Then what would be the reason why Lori attacked her?"

Immediately after asking, I knew the answer.

"Did Cliara hit on Romero? Goddess, what a mess. Lori really is at war when it comes to her crush. You wouldn't think so from such a quiet girl. Although she did get a little more outspoken later on".

"Baby, the only way for Louise and Cliara to get justice is to get Lori to admit these crimes and apologize. But then the two women must be ready to accept it."…
