No Suspicions

Luna Megan's POV again

The welcome at Crescent Moon is particularly warm.

Alpha Kertin and his Luna are waiting for us on the veranda. No wonder Cliara is such a beauty and Lori was jealous of her interest in Romero. I wonder if this family already knows that they are now living together and have triplets.

"Luna Megan. Welcome to our pack. How thoughtful of you to visit Cliara. She told me you were friends at college." Luna kisses me twice on the cheeks, while the Alpha pats me on the shoulder. I introduce them to Zalev and we enter the packhouse.

"Come, let me show you your quarters. It has been a long journey, so you might want to freshen up." The Luna leads us to the lift while two warriors carry our bags. When we reach the second floor, Zalev steps out with a warrior while Luna takes me one floor up.

"This is the Alpha wing. As the Luna of the Blue Blood, with whom we have a strong bond of friendship, you will stay here. As soon as we knew you were coming, we cleared our special apartment for you". We step through a double door and indeed I see an elegantly decorated room.

Luna Lily beckons the warrior to leave my bags in the bedroom and we sit down on the sofa in the small living room. Once we are comfortably seated, the older woman takes my hand.

"You are now the youngest Luna in this hemisphere. All the kids look up to you, your picture is going viral on social media. Alvarez is obviously crazy about you," she compliments me. I smile and make a mental note to verify this information as soon as I get the chance.

"Yes, Alvarez and I met under special circumstances. I am not yet twenty-one, but we already feel the bond. But I suspect it will become even stronger when my wolf confirms it," I indicate. Luna nods, smiling. "Of course, it will. The mate bond is powerful and unbreakable."

And then I think it's time to start with the reason for my mission here. I want to get this over with as soon as possible so that I can return home.

"Luna, you know that I am originally from Eclipse Howl. Romero and Lori were here a few weeks ago and also visited your family. I hope everything went well".

"Yes, it was the same day as Cliara's accident. They had just left the pack. To be honest, suspicion fell on them when we couldn't find the culprit. But no one could think of a good motive why Romero or Lori would do such a thing, our packs have no disputes," she ponders.

"No, that's impossible. The Alpha son would never come here personally to harm the Alpha female. Why would he? And besides, it would be pretty risky and brutal," I chime in.

"I think so too. It is unfortunate that this has happened to my only daughter. Cliara had an eye for Romero and they would have made a great couple. Now that she has lost an eye and her memory, that is of course out of the question," she sighs and sadly shakes her head.

"A couple? Didn't you know that Romero and Lori have triplets? They now live together as a family. Have you informed Alpha Thoseo of your preferences?"

Luna's eyes narrow into slits. "Were they already a couple when they arrived here or was it after? I remember Lori reacting jealously to Romero's flirtation with Cliara," she inquires slowly. I can feel that my words have put her on alert. I have to dispel her suspicions quickly.

"The triplets were just born when they came to see Dr. Henna. And they are so happy together now. We are waiting for their twenty-first birthday to confirm them as mates".

The woman's eyes lit up again.

"Yes, they might not be mates. It was very rash of them to start a family at such an early stage. What if they turn out not to be mates?" I can feel her reassessing her daughter's chances. Cliara's disability will not prevent her from finding a mate, the question is whether he will accept her. And surely her mother knows that an Alpha would not be so quick to reject his mate, as he desperately needs his Luna to help him with the pack.

"Oh well, we'll see. They can each decide to reject their fated for the sake of the cubs. In any case, they are very much in love and I don't think any of them would want to break up their family."

And then I decided to change the subject to Cliara. "Cliara is already twenty-one. Has she met her mate yet? I can't wait to meet her, she's always been the light of the party," I smile.

Luna is silent for a moment. "Go and freshen up soon and come to the entertainment room. We'll wait for you there. Then you can also meet Cliara. I'm sure she'll be looking forward to talking to you."

A little later, she leaves the apartment. I remained seated for a while, thinking back to our conversation.

So Crescent Moon has no suspicions about Lori. Hopefully, it will stay that way. I will ask Cliara how much she remembers from that day. At last, I get up and enter the bedroom. It is just as beautifully furnished as the living room. I take a long dress from my bag and lay it on the bed.

After taking a bath in the luxurious bathroom, I returned and put the dress on.

'Zalev, are you ready? Wait for me on the main floor so we can go to the entertainment room together.'

'I'm leaving my apartment now, Meg. I'll see you in a minute,' he replied in the mind link.

After another whiff of perfume, I step into the lift that takes me back. As agreed, Zalev is waiting for me there. Together we walk to the designated room...
