Chapter 176 - Wanted by the Alpha Brothers
Every morning Ivy was working me like a dog at training and Noah and I had also started going to school in the pack. We were meeting new kids from the area and it was good to have kids that we at least had something in common with.
Noah made friends easier than I did, but at least he never left me alone or anything like that. His friends became my friends and I didn't really mind that. I always seemed to get along better with guys than with girls. And I could tell that a lot of girls were starting to hate me for it. But I didn't really care. It wasn't my fault that I wasn't a girly girl. I was actually surprised that she-wolves were like that. They cared too much about clothes and make up and all the same stuff that regular girls cared about.
But that stuff never interested me. And I think it put them off a little bit. But I knew that as long as I had Noah then I would be alright. He had been my lifeline for so long and I guess that wasn't going to change now that we're in this pack.
Our home was finally finished and fully furnished so Noah and I could move into it. It was just a one bedroom cabin, but it was all ours and we absolutely loved it. We couldn't believe that it was all for us. And we were like a couple of kids in heat at times. We couldn't get enough of each other and Noah was insistent that we christen every room in the house.
Noah was working to learn engineering every afternoon after school to earn money and I was at the packhouse with Ivy working on trying to unlock whatever powers I might have. But so far, we've had no luck at all.
I was starting to get really frustrated. I heard that I was chosen and meant to be special by the moon goddess herself, so why is she making it so difficult to actually find where my powers are locked away. And to actually know what powers I have.
"You just need to be patient. I know that it's frustrating." Ivy says.
"It is. I want to know what these special powers are and I want to know how to use them. If I can protect people instead of putting them in danger." I say.
"Don't worry about that. I put people in danger when I was your age. I sacrificed myself several times to protect the people I love. It's nothing new. It just means that you would rather be the one to suffer than have the ones you love suffer. I understand all that. Believe me." Shen says.
"I didn't know that you sacrificed yourself." I said.
"Yeah. The last time I did it I was pregnant with the twins. There was a deranged werewolf who had been in love with me since I was a kid at my old pack. But I never even knew. He made his feelings known. And he was very adamant that he was going to have me. He almost killed Asher, so that's why I went with him. And I was heavily pregnant. I ended up giving birth in that house to the twins while the battle was going on outside." She says.
"Holy shit. How did you manage that?" I asked.
"I just did what I had to. I didn't have a choice." She says.
"Damn. That would have been horrible." I say.
'Regan. Help me.' Noah;s voice crashed through my head and I jumped to my feet.
"What's wrong?" Ivy asked.
"NOah's in trouble." I says.
'Noah. Where are you?' I asked.
'At the house. The vampires are here.' Noah screamed in my head. And I went running for the door and I could hear that Ivy was right behind me.
With every step I took I could feel my anger getting worse and worse. They were going to hurt Noah because I didn't go with them. I knew that this was going to happen. The people I loved were going to get hurt before they hurt me.
Without even thinking about it my bones started breaking and rearranging but I didn't break stride and I shifted into my wolf as I was running along the treeline heading for my house.
Anger now fueling me to go faster and faster. I didn't know where Ivy was at that point but when I got to the house I burst through the front door and I couldn't see anyone.
'Regan. Help me. In the woods.' Noah says in the mind link.
So I ran from the house and Ivy was just getting to the house but I ran in towards the woods and I could feel this anger that I had never felt before. It was getting worse and worse. I could feel it was about to explode when I finally saw red in front of my eyes and suddenly flames surrounded me.
I stopped for a second when I realized that I was the one on fire. My wolf was on fire. But I wasn't hurting. I wasn't burning. If anything it gave me more strength to keep going until I found Noah in the middle of the woods and I let out a vicious roar to the men that were surrounding him.
But when they turned around to look at me they all jumped back and Noah was standing there in complete shock and didn't understand what the hell was going on.
I looked at the men that were with Noah and as I was about to attack Noah jumped in front of them to stop me. He was the only one I recognised right now and I knew that I needed to protect him.
'Move Noah.' I demanded through the link.
'No. They're not dangerous. Their Ivy's warriors.' Noah linked me.
'What are you talking about?' I asked.
'This was the only way to get you to reveal your powers.' Noah says. And suddenly the flames died down and I wasn't on fire anymore and I shifted back to my human self.
Noah quickly ran over and gave me some clothes which I put on and I turned around to look at Ivy and she was now standing there with Asher.
"This was all a set up?" I asked.
"We needed to see if anger would bring on your powers. And it did." Asher says.
"That is not fair. You can't bring him into this." I say.
"It's alright Regan. I went along with it too. I've seen how frustrated you've been getting. I would have done anything to help you." Noah explained.
"At least now we know what you are capable of. One thing that vampires hate the most." Ivy says.
"Fire." I say.
"Exactly. And we can use that." She says.
"I don't like that you tricked me like that." I say.
"But it worked. Something needed to be done." Noah says. And she hugged me.
"I was so worried. I was scared. I thought the vampires were going to hurt you." I say.
"Well, they are never going to hurt me. Ivy has already told you. I am in the safest place in the world right now. In their pack. So we are fine here." Noah says.
"Alright. But don't do that again." I demanded.
"We don't have to. We know what you can do. And Ivy can train you from here on with it." Noah says.
"Who's idea was this?" I asked. And Noah looked at Ivy.
"I'm sorry. But I knew that this was going to be the only way that you could reveal your powers. They are usually brought on by anger or fear. And knowing that Noah was in danger would have bought out both emotions." Ivy explained.
"That was a really dirty trick." I say.
"I know. But it's what I needed to do. I'm sorry." She says.
"It's alright. I guess. But like I said, don't do it again." I say.
Noah put his arm around me and we started heading back to the house and Ivy and Asher stayed back with their warriors discussing other matters that I didn't really care about. And when we got back to the house Noah had to fix the front door that I smashed in.
"How are we going to get close enough to the vampires for me to actually use the fire on them?" I asked.
"I don't know. But I'm sure that Ivy and Asher will work something out. They might be able to find their next or something like that. I don't really know." Noah says.
"Well, we can only hope." I say.
"Yeah. I guess so. I am sorry for tricking you, but you can't argue with the results." He says.
"I know that. And I'm not. But it did piss me off. Anyway, I'm going to go and have a shower." I say heading towards the bathroom while he was still fixing the door.
Now that I knew I had the power of fire, I needed to know how to use that. I needed to know how to kill vampires with it. We knew that they were going to be back because Nick didn't get what he wanted. He wants me and this was something else that we needed to worry about now.
Just as I sat down in the living room to do my homework Ivy and Asher came bursting into the house.
"We found them. We know where they are hiding." Asher announced.
"Who?" I asked.
"Nick. And his entire army. We know where they are holding up during the day. We can attack them with a huge advantage. Daylight." Ivy says.
"When do we leave?" I asked.
"As soon as you get a handle on those powers, you can burn that damn house down with them inside it." Ivy says. And I looked at Noah who had a grin on his face.
