Chapter 177 - Wanted by the Alpha Brothers
As soon as we got the news that we knew where Nick was staying then Ivy was right on top of me about getting control of my powers. We needed me to learn how to control my powers so I don't hurt the people around me and I only hurt the people I intend on hurting.
So she took me to the training grounds that she reserved just for us and we sat on the ground and crossed our legs.
"Now, with powers like this meditation is the key to being able to control what you are going to do." Ivy says.
"I've never really been one to meditate." I say.
"It's concentration. You need to concentrate on what you are doing. Meditation is the key to doing that. You need to learn." Ivy says.
"Alright. I'll try." I say. I've always had trouble meditating because there's always too much crap going on inside my head. I know that I need to give it a chance, but I can never calm my mind down long enough for it to actually work.
I closed my eyes while sitting on the ground and I took a couple of deep breaths and I tried to let my mind go blank and concentrate on what I needed to do. Concentrate on the fire. Ivy was calmly talking to me the whole time that we were doing this.
"Now, Just think about the fire. The fire within you. We know that it's there. Think about it manifesting itself inside yourself right now. Try and push the fire to one particular point in your body. Try and think about it traveling through your body to your fingers. Raise your hand up and push the fire within you to your hand. To your fingertips." Ivy says calmly.
I was doing everything that she said and I opened my eyes but there was nothing there. There were no flames on my fingers, I couldn't even feel the fire within me. I tried even harder to make them manifest into my fingers like she told me to. To force them into my fingertips but it wasn't working. And I let out a growl.
"We've been sitting here forever and nothing is happening." I snapped.
"Did you really think it was going to happen on the first day? It takes time." Ivy says.
"No. Screw this. I can't do it. I hate meditating and I will find my own way to do it." I say getting up and storming off.
I was heading back to my house when suddenly Ivy was standing in front of me.
"How the hell did you do that? I didn't even see you coming." I say.
"That's because you weren't concentrating." She says.
"What are you talking about?" I asked.
"I'm not really here." She says.
"And I'm not really here either." Another Ivy said standing beside me. There were two of them. And then I started looking around. Walking around in a circle and more of them started to appear.
"How the hell are you doing this?" I asked.
"I haven't moved." They all said in unison. And I looked back at where I was sitting with Ivy and she was still sitting in the same place where I left her. But she was watching me and then all the other's disappeared.
I slowly walked back over to her, afraid that another one would jump out at me, and she looked up at me calmly with a smile on her face.
"How can you do that?" I asked.
"It's called astral projection. And thank you. It's been a while since I've needed to do it. I actually surprised myself, I didn't know that I could create more than one of myself at a time. I guess I can." She says casually.
"That was weird." I say.
"And it's saved lives over the years. Whenever I need to use it." She says.
"That was weird." I say.
"I know. But I wasn't able to do that overnight. I needed to practice. It frustrated the hell out of me too. I didn't know that I could do that until I did it. But I meditated and concentrated until my powers showed themselves to me. We already know what your power is. So you've got it easier then me." She explained.
"My mind never stays still long enough to meditate." I say.
"Well, that's what you need to work on. Calming your mind. Calming your surroundings. Not letting anything else in. Don't worry about Noah. Don't worry about the pack. Don't worry about anyone or anything else. I know that sounds horrible, but that's what you need to do if you want to beat these bastards and live a relatively normal life." She explained.
"Well, since you put it that way. I don't really have a choice. Do I?" I asked.
"It's up to you. If you want vampires coming after you for the rest of your life then we will happily fight them off. We're used to fighting. But do you want to live in fear for the rest of your life?" She asked.
"No. I don't." I say.
"Now, are we going to try again?" She asked. So I sat down in front of her and crossed my legs.
"I can't promise anything." I say.
"We're not going to try and bring forward the fire now. Right now, we're just going to concentrate on you clearing your mind of all thoughts. To find that part of you that is completely at peace where you have no worries or concerns or insecurities." She says.
"My happy place." I said.
"Exactly." She says.
We were sitting in that field for hours trying to meditate and when I finally got home Noah was sitting at the table doing his homework and I started making dinner.
"How did it go?" He asked.
"It was exhausting. I feel like I just want to go to sleep." I say.
"Are you serious?" He asked.
"Yeah. She needs me to meditate. To clear my mind and meditate to try and bring forth the fire that's inside me." I say.
"I never pictured you as the meditation type." He says.
"I'm not. That's why I'm exhausted. And we're going to be doing it every day until I can finally clear my mind of everything. It's a lot harder than you think." I say.
"I bet it is. Especially for you. You've never been able to calm your mind. You've always had things to worry about. How are you meant to train your brain to stop what you've been doing your whole life?" Noah asked.
"That's what I asked Ivy. And she said that it's going to take a lot of practice. I need to retrain my brain. And it's not easy. But she showed me what she can do today and she says that it wasn't easy for her to start using her powers. It took time. But what she can do now is incredible." I say.
"Yeah. I can imagine what she can do." Noah says.
"She can astral project. She can be sitting in one place but her body appears somewhere else. That is so much cooler than me lighting myself on fire." I say.
"I don't know. I think they're both pretty impressive." Noah says.
"You're just saying that because you can't do either." I say.
"Exactly. Be thankful you've got this gift that can wipe out vampires." Noah says.
"I really wish I could. But then I start to think that the vampire we're going after is my father." I say.
"Regan. I've found out a few things about your father that you don't know about." Noah says.
"Like what?" I asked.
"He's 400 years old. He's traveled the entire world. You're his only child. No one knows how he was only able to produce one offspring. But vampires having children is unheard of. We all know that." Noah says.
"That's nothing to scare me so far." I say cutting the vegetables for dinner.
"Well, he has a temper. In the olden days when they only had little villages and the homes were made of twigs and rocks and crap like that. He would wipe out an entire village in one temper tantrum. He has more kills under his belt than any other vampire in the world. And that's saying something. He is the most feared vampire because of his temper. If he asks vampires to join his army, then none of them are game enough to say no. Because he would make their deaths the most painful death of all." Noah explained.
"Do you know how many he's killed?" I asked.
"Well, they never used to keep records 300 to 400 years ago. But there is an estimation. They think that he's killed between 30 000 to 50 000 humans in 400 years." Noah says and I dropped the knife.
"Are you serious?" I asked.
"Yeah. He's the most deadly vampire in the world. Everyone knows who he is. If vampires hear that he is headed their way, they take off. They refused to become a part of his army." Noah explained.
"He really does need to be stopped." I say.
"Regan. He wants you to join them. And Ivy and Asher stood up to him and said no. Which means, you need to get a handle on your powers before he comes back in a fury and kills these people that have taken us in and treat us like their own family." Noah says.
"I had no idea. How was I meant to know how bad he was? I was just told that he was a dangerous vampire. No one told me how bad it was." I say.
"And no one is blaming you for that. I'm just letting you know what we're up against." Noah says.
"I have to keep going, don't I?" I asked.
"Yeah. And we need to attack during daylight like the others suggested. Where they will be at a disadvantage. We're not sure if Nick is a day walker. But they know that his army isn't. Asher's warriors have seen the house. All the windows are blacked out. Which means they can't handle the sunlight." Noah says.
"Alright. We need to do this." I say turning back to keep working on dinner.
I had no idea how horrible Nick was. If I had any turmoil about killing my father beforehand, I definitely don't know. He needs to be eliminated. And I am the one to do it. I'm the one he wants. I led him here. So, I am the one that is going to protect my new family and I am going to make sure that nothing happens to the people that I am starting to love as a family. I'm not going to let anything happen to Ivy. Who I've started to look up to as a big sister. And I think this is the closest thing I am ever going to have to a family, which is fine with me. I am happy with that. I love Ivy and Asher. And I will do anything to stop them from getting hurt.
