Chapter 173 - Wanted by the Alpha Brothers
His eyes fixed on me and I squeezed Noah's hand even tighter. And Ivy moved over slightly so I was a little more out of his sight.
"You are the ones that called this meeting. So let's get on with it." The man says.
"Really Nick? No pleasantries first?" Asher asked.
"You have my daughter. You're holding her hostage to get me to do whatever you want." Nick says.
"She's not a hostage. She can leave at any time." Ivy says.
"Is that true Regan? Are you allowed to leave at any time?" Nick asked smoothly towards me. But my voice hitched in my throat.
"Yes. We can." Noah said for me.
"You must be the mate." Nick says.
"That's right." Noah says.
"Well, we'll see about that." Nick says.
"You're lucky to be seeing anything at all right now after that little stunt you pulled on us last night." Asher growled at him.
"What are you complaining about? I'm the one that has to replace the men that you killed." Nick says.
"We are here to talk about Regan. She doesn't want anything to do with you. She doesn't want to go with you. Anywhere." Ivy says.
"Well, she is my daughter." Nick says.
"And she's old enough to make her own decisions. Whether she wants to live her life as a werewolf or a vampire. And I'm sorry to say it, I think she's already made her choice." Ivy says.
"How do you know that?" Nick asked.
"Because she's here, isn't she? Plus, we don't kill people for sport." Ivy spat at him.
"We kill people to survive." Nick says.
"No. Other vampires kill people for food. You kill people for the fun of it. We all know who and what you are." Asher says.
"Well, my daughter is my property. Now hand her over." Nick demanded. And then I snapped out of the gaze that I was in and the fear that I was feeling.
"Excuse me? I am no one's property. I don't want anything to do with a blood sucking son of a bitch like you who disappeared before I was born and left me what a serial killer of a mother. You could have taken me then if you wanted me say badly. But you didn't. You just want me now since all the hard work has already been done with raising a child. You can go to hell. I'm staying right here with Ivy and Asher." I demanded.
His eyes fixed on me and he definitely didn't appreciate the tone that I took with him. He looked like he was getting angry and by the looks of it Ivy was grinning at him.
'Can you hear me?' A voice said in my head. And I started looking around everywhere. Trying to see who was talking to me. I looked straight ahead and it was the man standing next to Nick.
'Don't speak out loud. I can hear what you are thinking.' He tells me.
'How are you doing that?' I asked.
'Most vampires can.' He says.
'What do you want?' I asked.
'You know that this is all for Ivy and Asher's sake. This whole meeting is bullshit.' He says.
'I didn't know that.' I say.
'Well, you be back here tomorrow night at midnight. And if you don't come back, we'll kill everyone you love. Starting with your mate.' He threatened me.
'Leave Noah out of this.' I demanded.
'Then be here at midnight.' He tells me. And when he stopped talking to me I could listen back in on the conversation going on around me.
"You know that you can't protect her forever." Nick says to Ivy and Asher.
"We'll do our best trying though." Asher says.
"So, she's not a member of your pack?" Nick asked.
"That's right. And I'm sure the vampire council has already told you what would happen if you try to take a pack member. You wouldn't want to be responsible for another war, would you? Not after everything has just started settling down." Asher says.
"Mark my words, all of you. This isn't over. The vampire council won't have a say over me forever. And when they don't, I will be back for my daughter." Nick says.
"Hopefully that's before old age." Ivy teased him.
He took one more look at me and his face seemed to harden at the idea of me not leaving with him.
"One day sweet Regan, you'll see that you chose the wrong side. You'll come to me. I'll be waiting. I promise." Nick says. And he turned to look at his men before he took off in the other direction with his men following him. And that's when I let out a huge breath that I didn't know I was holding.
"Are you alright?" Ivy asked walking over to me.
"Yeah. Do you think he'll be back?" I asked.
"No. Asher told the council about the bodies he left on our doorstep this morning. That's why he didn't cross the border. Usually, he wouldn't have cared. But the vampire council aren't ones to mess with. They could have killed him today if they wanted to. They must have just given him a warning." Ivy explained.
"You're safe. Don't worry. He won't be coming back." Asher says, putting his arm around Ivy's shoulders. And Noah hugged me.
"I can't believe you guys did this for me." I say.
"Well, you're a part of our pack now. And that's what we do for pack members. We're all family here. Get used to it." Ivy says.
"I'm gonna have to." I say. And they started laughing. But I looked off into the distance and saw one lone man standing there watching us. He put his fingers over his lips telling me to be quiet.
We all headed back to the packhouse and I went straight up to our room and I had a shower and got out and dressed before Noah even made it up to the room.
"Are you alright? You were pretty quiet on the way back here." Noah says.
"I know. I guess it just hit me that I just met my father. I never thought that was ever going to happen." I say.
"Well, you met him and hopefully you never need to meet him again." Noah says.
"Yeah. Let's hope so."
