Headhunt
Transcontinental hotel…

The heavy roars of car engines filled the still night air as three Lexus SUV rushed into the underground parking lot in military style.

The guards manning the entrance simply looked on like it was nothing. In their thoughts it was probably another bunch of rich bastards attending one occasion or the other in the hotel.

Concerning their reckless driving style who cared, as long as they didn't destroy something it was okay.

See no evil say no evil!

The cars didnt drive for long before turning into a corner of the lot parking g into a triangle formation.

The still running engines of the cars were now humming softly as their pure white headlights all landed on a line figure standing to thewall casting a huge lonesome shadow.

Following the sound of engines dying off the I tense lights shut down before the doors opened up revealing a group of black suited men numbering around a dozen.

At a glance they looked like a group of business men, however there was nothing business like about their temperament as a hint of violence roiled between their brows.

Clearly they were dangerous.

Especially the though looking hulk Italian up front.

“Boss!"

Walking towards the lone figure, he suddenly dropped one one knee while saluting in a deep voice.

“You're late!" The lonesome figure was very simple in his reply that neither sounded annoyed nor expressive, it was like he was just there.

“Sorry, boos it was the traffic." Still saluting, the Italian man scratched his head in embarrassment.

" Seriously Antonio? Traffic?"
Turning around Grant finally could t maintain the expressionless mask as he gazed helplessly at Antonio.

“And what's with the entrance, you guys were like a bunch of bank robbers!" Exclaiming, Grant facepalmed.

“Ugh…" Dumbfounded, Antonio only stared in confusion.

“Forget it, did you get everything I asked you to?"

Sighing, Grant waved his hand as he quickly focused on the more important matter.

“Yes boss." Wignalling to his back, the dozen men soon brought out three suitcases to the front. At the same time one of them took out a laptop and pressed something which caused the cameras to flash for a while before they got back to normal.

If someone entered the security room right now, they would discover that lot 69 had no one there.

Opening the suitcase, the contents wer quickly identifiable, a bunch of weapons some climbing infiltrating equipment and a matte black body suit.

Nodding approvingly, Grant turned towards Antonio.
“What about the combatants?"

Hearing g the talk about the combatants an excited goint flashed past Antonio's eyes as he quickly stood straight.

“Twelve of my most valiant men, personally handpicked and trained by me. I'm not boasting boss but they can probably give a special forces unit a though time."
Grinning, Antonio boasted.

" Alright then, prepare yourselves, we move in the next fifteen minutes here's the brief.”

Pleasantly surprised Grant soon began the mission briefing with Antonio and the dozen combatants.

Seeing Antonio being to brief the soldiers about the mission upcoming mission a complicated gljnt flashed past in grants eyes.

“Finally, finally."

The reason they were in this underground parking lot was actually very simple, Grant finally decided to begin the hunt.

Last time when he took out the three members affiliated to the three major gangs in Detroit it wasn't out of spite nor a result of blurred business lines.

Heck, he didn't even run a drug trade or any of the exotic business the gangs carried out.

Rather, it was all for revenge!

Yes, revenge for his father.

Twenty years ago his father was killed in a gang war that was orchestrated by the three gangs and some traitors.

While his father was a mafia Lord, he was surprisingly pretty out of touch with Detroit's it self focused more on international arms trade. Things were good and all. In fact if things went well back then he would have never even turned into the Mafia boss he was today but fate was a bastard.

“Hehe." With a mocking smirk on his lips Grant's eyes closed as he suddenly felt like he had gone into the past as various memories fluttered past.

The flames that ravaged the house, the bullet riddled corpses and finally—his father's cold body devoid of life.

Snapping open his eyes he glanced at the

Arianna never expected that the next time she'd be seeing Walter after being separated for two months it'd be in a casket. She is in shock and disbelief even at the funeral. Walter's family appreciates her coming since they literally took her as their in-law. They later narrate how he died blaming it on suicide created from work related pressure. Arianna isn't really buying this especially when she finds that their narration doesn't really correlate with Walter's last message to her. Clearly it wasn't suicide, he was killed.

Furthermore, Liam, Walter's best friend also wasn't in support of the suicide story convincing her that her hunch was correct.

Thanks to her nature of always digging for the truth she decided to investigate the cause of his death herself when she gets home. To facilitate this she transfers from the Hashford university of medicine where she was residing as a junior Forensic pathologist to Walter's university; Lambert National centre for medical research and technology. She has help from Liam who makes the transfer smooth courtesy of his family background.

Using her residency as a cover, she and Liam investigate with whatever clue crumbs they can find with some success however minor. At the same time she becomes increasingly popular thanks to her academic brilliance. Soon people start speculating that she and Liam are dating. The gossip spreads like wildfire!

INCITING INCIDENT

On the other hand someone isn't happy with this news—Sloane! She confronts Liam accusing him of cheating which he denies. Seeing that she might actually breakup with him he reluctantly tells her that he and Arianna are actually investigating Walter's death and she was his girlfriend.

Sloane is shocked but she pretends well enough to fool Liam that she was sorry, she then tells him that she also didn't believe that Walter would just commit suicide like that. They reconcile.

Sloane then suggests that they include her in the i
nvestigation since
