Chapter 91 Warnings
Arthur finished preparing lunch in the kitchen and began to set up the dining table, when Theo returned with them.
They walked into the house and saw their Dad setting up the table. Ryan furrowed his brows and turned to look at Theo.
“What is he doing?” He asked.
“Setting up the table for you and your brothers, of course.” Theo responded, causing Riley to raise his eyebrows.
“He prepared lunch? That is strange.” Riley uttered, and they all nodded in agreement.
Arthur raised his head and saw them standing in the living room and staring at him.
“Hey! You’re back! I made rice for lunch!” Arthur said with a large smile, waving at them.
They looked at each other before they proceeded to the dining area.
“What are we celebrating, Dad?” Ryan asked, and Arthur let out a grin.
“Don’t make it so obvious that I’ve been neglecting you boys for some days now.” He responded, taking a quick glance at Theo.
“Well, you have.” Rowan and Riley mumbled as they settled on their chairs.
Theo turned to leave, but Arthur hastily stopped him. “Sit with us, Theo.” He uttered, and Theo looked back at him, to be sure he wanted him there.
“Are you sure?” He asked, making Arthur scoff.
“Of course, I’m sure. Sit.” Arthur answered as he also sat. The boys began to serve their foods and started eating without saying any words.
Arthur watched them eat and waited for the right time to talk to them.
“I’m very sorry, boys.” He said, and immediately when they heard him say this, they all stopped eating and looked at him.
“I know I haven’t been myself lately. I’ve been irresponsible and a drunk, not caring about you my children. I’m very sorry.” He muttered, heaving a deep sigh.
“It is because of mummy, right?” Rowan asked, and Arthur nodded with his jaws clenched.
“I felt lost and I couldn’t think straight because she left. At some point, I felt like I wanted to die because she isn’t mine anymore.” Arthur further explained.
“Then what changed?” Arthur inquired.
“I remembered I have children that I should care for and love dearly. You are my kids, and you shouldn’t see me like that.”
“So you’re not going to lock yourself up and drink anymore?” Rowan asked, and Arthur shook his head.
“No, I won’t. I would try so hard not to.” He answered.
“And you won’t ditch work?” Ryan asked too, and he shook his head again.
“I’m resuming tomorrow.” He answered, and the boys smiled widely, turning to look at Theo.
“Can we tell him now?” Ryan asked excitedly, causing Arthur to crease his brows in confusion.
“Tell me what?” He asked, looking at Theo too. Theo softly softly and nodded.
“You mentioned it already, and he’s curious now. It’s not a secret anymore. You can tell him.” Theo said to the boys, and they all turned to look at Arthur.
“We have spoken to Mummy on the phone once!” They chorused, and Arthur’s face lit up and his eyes widened.
“You have? After the wedding?!” He looked at Theo, and he nodded. He grabbed onto Theo’s hand on the table and pulled him closer.
“Is she okay? What’s her number? Can I talk to her?!”
“She’s fine, but you can’t talk to her. According to what the boys told me, she would be calling them a very few times with a public cell phone, so you wouldn’t try to reach out.”
“She probably still hates me.” Arthur mumbled.
“Yes, she does.” Ryan responded, chewing on his chicken.
“Ryan!” Theo and his brother called to caution him, and he shrugged.
“What? That’s the truth. She wouldn’t tell us where she was, she refused to show us her face, and she is hell bent on not returning to this house because of you. She’s hurt and if possible, never wants to see you again. She has called only once since she left, which means very soon, she’d stop talking to us too. I tried telling her about you, but she stopped me and said she doesn’t want to hear anything about you.” Ryan uttered, and everyone was silent.
The words sank into Arthur’s brain, digesting every bit of information Ryan said.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry she wouldn’t be talking to you like she’s supposed to because of me.” Arthur answered, and they looked at him speechlessly.
“I don’t know what we can do to change her mind about not seeing the kids, but one thing we can do is to stay strong and go on with our lives. I bet this is what Aurora wants to do too, and that is why she left.” Theo said to him, and he nodded in agreement.
“You’re right. I’m glad she even called the kids. She cares so much about them.”
“Of course, she does. She loves us so much.” Rowan answered with a soft smile.
They finished lunch in silence and Arthur headed back to his room. After the boys told him about Aurora, he couldn’t help but think of a way to show her that he was going to love her forever.
“Maybe I shouldn’t even show her. I should just try to move on with my life.” He muttered to himself and slammed into his bed. He picked up his phone and scrolled through the read and unread messages in Aurora’s DM.
‘I’ve lost her.’ He thought, rereading the apology paragraphs he kept bombarding her message box with.
Just then, a call from an unknown number came in. He stared at his phone for a while as he was skeptical about answering an unknown contact, but then he remembered Ryan’s words about Aurora using public phones to call and without any hesitation, he answered the phone.
“Hello?!” He uttered, praying to hear her seraphic voice from the other end, but instead, his ears were met with a thick, masculine voice.
“I’d advise you to stop whatever you think you’re doing to Anita.”
“Who the hell are you?” Arthur asked, a frown forming on his face.
“You don’t need to know who I am. Stop following her, or you’ll just find yourself in bigger trouble. I care about your kids and that’s why I’m calling to warn you. She knows you sent people to spy on her.”
“Firstly, you have no right to mention my kids. You are going to stay away from them!”
“Tell that to Anita before she does something crazy again. Just let her be, man. She’s done with you, don’t let her resume her beef with you.”
Before Arthur could respond, he hung up, leaving Arthur bewildered.
“Who does this girl think she is anyway? Now she’s trying to scare me? This time, I wouldn’t let her.” He thought as he called a number on his phone.
After it got connected, he said;
“The next time you see her, capture her and take her to the place we have planned.” He said and hung up immediately.
He headed out of the room back to the living room where the boys and Theo sat, doing their homework.
“Guess what, boys?!” He asked with a grin, and they all looked at him.
“What?” They asked out of curiosity.
“We are going on vacation!”
