The Tales Of Witches and Curses
Ruby was at a complete loss for words, she didn't know how to react and even though she didn't know what really happened. But she could still feel the anger in Damian's eyes.
His mother has died? This still seems very difficult to believe. Four days ago, Damian's mother called her and they talked for almost 10 minutes. At that time she felt that there was nothing strange at all.
"No, wait a minute. Was there actually something strange at that time that I just didn't realize?" She thought. Her head started to think hard and this situation made her feel even more uncomfortable.
What should she say now? She increasingly felt that her return to this city was not right. Although she really wanted to meet her father and try to change her father's point of view about her and her mother. But from the start, she also wasn't sure enough that her business would be successful.
Since her father found out who she was, her father's attitude changed a lot. Just to prove her hunch, her father tried to hurt her many times.
"Ruby, what's wrong?"
Damian broke her thoughts. She felt nervous and her voice couldn't come out.
"I-I'm really sorry about what happened to your mom. I don't know what to say? I'm so sorry."
"You said earlier that you met my mom in this house. Is that true?"
"Yeah, I don't know why I met your mom either. We chatted for a while and your mom told me that you were an FBI agent."
This time, it was Damian who seemed surprised to hear Ruby's confession. He was sure that Ruby wasn't lying because not everyone knew about his profession as an FBI agent, only a handful of people closest and most trusted knew about his status.
"So you actually met my mom. It's hard to believe-"
"I understand, I really understand. If you can't believe what I say, I understand. I still can't believe what happened to your mom and if it's true that my dad killed your mom, I really-"
"Never mind! You don't need to feel guilty, because you had absolutely nothing to do with my mother's death. For the past two years I have been looking for your father's whereabouts, but I still haven't found him. Besides, where have you been all this time? Didn't you promise me at that time that you will tell us which city you moved to? What really happened to you?"
Ruby rubbed her hands, she didn't know how to answer Damian's question. At that time the situation was so chaotic that she couldn't think clearly. Everyone in town cursed their existence and like the legends of witches centuries ago who were burned alive, it could be said that her mother almost experienced the same thing.
"At that time the situation was very chaotic and mom asked me to don't send any messages to you. There were hundreds of threatening messages that came to mother's phone and mine, she was too afraid that something bad would happen to me if I was away from her. Because of that-"
"You decided to cut off all contact with the rest of us so we couldn't look for you?"
"What's the point of you guys looking for me? You've helped me too much and I don't want you to have to bear the risk of the problems we've created."
"I don't understand at all, why do people in modern times still believe in curses and witches? This really doesn't make sense."
"I think people believe in curses and witches because they experience bad luck which is usually caused by curses or the power of black magic."
"But your mom wasn't a witch, right? Those are just accusations from irresponsible people and-"
"No, Damian. I think the accusations are true, everything they say maybe is true. My mom is a witch."

Henry took a sip of wine from his glass and poured the wine back into the glass to cover up the sadness in his heart. He still felt annoyed, unable to forget the face he hated the most.
Behind him, Renata put her arm around his shoulder affectionately after realizing that he was in a bad mood. That makes him difficult to talk to.
"What are you thinking about? You seemed to be thinking really hard earlier!" Renata whispered while kissing his cheek.
"You'd better go because I'm not in the mood to talk to anyone right now!"
"Come on, honey? Are you jealous because Aiden talked to me last night? I don't have any feelings for him at all, so-"
"Renata, can you come out and please tell Sebastian to come into my room now!"
"Why should I do it?"
"Just do what I tell you!" Henry raised his voice, everyone could easily read his mood.
After Renata left, five minutes later, a young man named Sebastian entered Henry's private room, the place where he and his subordinates gathered.
"I'm coming, boss!"
"How? Have you got what I asked for?"
"About Levi the very mysterious casino jockey? I have gathered some information about him and according to several witnesses who have met him in person, all the characteristics of Levi the god of gambling are exactly the same as those of Aiden Joseph Uckerman."
"Aiden? Tch, damn! I thought that bastard was Levi."
"Isn't he your childhood friend?"
"Friend or not, it's clear that right now he has something to do with that group of troublemakers. Pass on my message to Robert, so that he tells all members of the pack to gather at the mansion this week. There's an important meeting we have to discuss!"
"Yes, sir"
