Elder William Babe

Elder William Babe
Sicilia's POV:
“Elder William Babe? What are you doing here?” Alpha Ken asked the man who came down from the carriage.
“Elder William Babe?” I was shocked and blinked my eyelashes several times to confirm I was seeing the right person.
“Alpha Ken, it's a pleasure seeing you.” Elder William bowed at Ken, who replied with a wave of his fingers.
“What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be at the diviner's palace?” Ken asked with raised brows, wondering what William was doing in his mansion. He didn't look happy to see William. It was obvious that both of them weren't on good terms.
“Ahhh! Yes, the diviner's palace.” William Babe murmured thoughtfully, staring at me. “Actually, the diviner has spoken,” he continued with a smirk on his face.
“What was prophesied?” Ken looked at Babe, curiosity sparking in his eyes.
“Death is closer than ever, and it's right...”
“When are you doing here?” I interrupted his sentence, fully aware of the consequences if he said what was prophesied.
“Why are you such a rude slave? Weren't you taught courtesy, or are you just ready to die?” Alpha Ken questioned with a scowl on his face, angry that his messenger's words were interrupted.
“Courtesy?” I scoffed at his words. “Trust me, having all the courtesy in the world doesn't mean you won't die. Even the nicest people end up dead.” I stared into his eyes deeply, wondering why he couldn't remember me.
“You must have lost someone close to you,” William Babe joked, laughing nervously. He secretly signaled me to stop talking, and although I wanted to scream out loud, I took his advice and managed to stand up.
"Do you know her?" Alex asked with raised brows, and William’s gaze was fixed on me.
“Oh, yes. She is my wife's distant relative,” he replied with a gentle smile.
“Wife’s distant relative,” I sneered and shook my head. Well, he wasn't lying. William was Delilah, one of Dracula’s daughters' husbands. They had been married for over a hundred years, but what I didn't understand was how William was an elder in a werewolf pack. I had always thought he was a demon.
“Oh!” Alpha Ken was surprised, “but that doesn't mean she should be rude and uncultured.”
“I apologize for her immature behavior, Alpha.” William apologized and bowed slightly.
Alpha Ken wasn't convinced by his action, so he turned to face me and asked, “How did you end up in the slave carriage?”
“Oh!” I was caught off guard by his question. Nonetheless, I'd spent months in hell, so it had become very easy to form a convincing lie.
“I was on my way to see...” I stuttered, unsure of what to call William, "Elder William, and got lost in the woods. Your soldiers saw me and mistook me for a slave. I wanted to tell them that I wasn't a slave, but they rough-handled me.”
“Hmmm, is that so?” Ken asked with a smug smile.

William was impressed by my lie and winked at me.
“So, why are you looking for William? I mean, there must be a reason behind it,” Ken continued with a menacing smile.
“Alpha Ken, I appreciate your questions. But some things are quite confidential,” William said at once, scared that I would give him out.
“It's fine.” I tried convincing William with my eyes that I got this, but he didn't look convinced. “I came here looking for a job. Elder William promised me that I could work in your mansion as a maid,” I explained, pouting my lips in the cutest way I could think of. “Can I work as a maid, sire?” I asked Ken directly, and he arched his eyebrows in surprise.
“Yes, can she work in the mansion?” William quickly chipped in and smiled at the Alpha. “I heard you need more kitchen maids; trust me, she is the best when it comes to cooking. It’s not like you can refuse me. I am one of your Epsilon; I have the full right to recommend a maid to you,” he continued, not wanting to be refused by the Alpha.
“Well, I also have the full right to refuse who you recommend, Epsilon. I am the Alpha.” Ken looked bitter as those words left his mouth.
There was a momentary silence as the two men glared at each other. Fortunately, William broke the silence with a friendly smile.
“Alpha Ken, I know we aren't the best of friends, considering the fights and quarrels we’re always getting into now and then, but trust me, I mean no evil; let's bury the old hatchet. Let her work for you as a maid; she now belongs to you, and you can do whatever you like to her. Take her as my peace-wanting offering,” William offered with a fake smile that I could easily read through.
I wanted to scream at him for his stupid offer, but I chose to go with the flow. ‘Once I have his heart, I will disappear and never return.’ I thought to myself.
“Hmm, I don't think I need a rude and disrespectful maid,” Ken said proudly and hissed.
I wanted to kick his ass. Come on, you were given a free maid, yet you’re displaying pride. What a dick!
"Come on, Sicilia, bow down, and apologize to Alpha Ken," William cautioned me, secretly giving me puppy eyes.
I sighed because, during my days in Hell, I didn't apologize to anyone. Taking a deep breath and swallowing my pride, I bowed and kissed my palm. "I am sorry for my rude behavior, A-Alpha.”
Ken didn't look impressed, but he waved his fingers at me anyway. After giving me a dreadful gaze, he left, accompanied by three soldiers.
“Thank you so much, Alpha!” William yelled.
When William was sure that the Alpha's guards weren’t within our reach, he dragged me closer to himself, and I reacted by hitting his face.
“Don't you dare touch me,” I sneered at him, and he quickly released the edge of my dress.
