Chapter 48
Chapter 48
"Jared the rogue king? What on earth does he want with our mate?" Carlos asked as he drew closer to the tribrid, curiosity and suspicions imprinted all over his features as he gave her a stern gaze.
"Don't be so surprised, Alpha Carlos. I have helped you by saving the life of your mate. Now it's your turn to do my wish by giving her to me."
The tribrid replied to him with a crooked smile while I shook my head in disagreement.
No! There is no way I'm going to give myself to her or the rogue king.
I've heard a lot about him. His kingdom is quite far from ours and he has ruled the rogues for decades.
What on earth does he want from someone like me?
"Look, Alpha Carlos. What you don't know about Camellia is that she came from the lineage of rogues. Her paternal forefathers were rogues but she has no idea about it. She is needed by the rogue king because her bond with him will not only make her ancestors happy but it will also give the rogues a chance and power to strive in this hard times,"
"Nonsense! What nonsense!" Carlos blurted as he shoved his sword and placed it gently under her chin, his bloodshot eyes piercing directly into hers.
"Think about it, Alpha Carlos. I'm a tribrid. I can't be killed!" The tribrid said with a scornful smile as she sneered at Carlos.
"Shut up! Just shut the fk up! Who are you to cook up some lies about my mate and her ancestors? I don't care if she comes from a rogue lineage or not. All I know is, she'll never be taken to any rogue king. Don't you see that she's my mate —. Our mate!"
Carlos emphasized with a loud roar while Xavier and Desmond stepped forward beside him with stern expressions on their faces. They shot a hot fury gaze at the tribrid who did nothing but chuckle at their words.
"The rogue king is not someone you can mess with Alpha Carlos. Remember your father did some horrible things to witches in the past and Cecile's parents were one of those who witnessed his wrath. Those witches he drove away from the pack had left to unite with the rogues including me, Alpha Carlos." The tribrid disclosed further, increasing the suspense and tension in the air.
My hands shook and my lips quivered as I wondered what she was trying to arrive at.
"What is it that you guys want from my mate? First it was a witch who tried to harm my mate and now a rogue king who claims to want her! What the fk do you all want from her? If you're all trying to get revenge against me or my father, don't let her get involved please,"
"You're misquoting my words, Alpha Carlos. The rogue king is not seeking revenge against you or your father; neither are the witches who are in alliance with the rogues seeking revenge against you and your pack. We only want Camelia to know about her roots."
The tribrid explained further but Carlos and my mate shook their heads, totally against her statement.
"We don't care about our mate's root, lady Guinevere, and we also don't want her to know. She is now our mate and a Luna to my pack. She has nothing to do with the rogues so don't ever think of saying anything about the rogues to her. She has no fg business with them,"
Carlos yelled at her and then dragged me closer to himself, holding me tightly in his grasp.
"She is our fated mate from the Moon goddess. How dare the rogue king try to claim her! What does he need her for?"
"The late witches who connived with the rogues gave us the order, Alpha Carlos. Uniting Camelia and the rogue king is a request from her ancestors who died as rogues. It's not my decision but her ancestors' request and we have to fulfill it."
Carlos shoved his sword a little under her chin. With furious gaze, he Said, "Why are you so keen on fulfilling their wishes? What business do you have with the rogues?"
"It's a long story, Alpha Carlos. The rogues saved my life and I owe them a lot which is why I am doing all I can to support them."
"But if you're supporting the rogues, why are you so interested in fulfilling her ancestors' request?" Xavier asked this time around, his face plastered with confusion.
"It's because her ancestors are not only rogues but they are also witches. That explains why Camelia is also a witch too. All they want is for Camelia to be united with the rogue king. That's all!"
Carlos chuckled in a sarcastic tone. He lifted his gaze at the tribrid and a stern expression returned to his face.
"Don't think I'll be so stupid to give my mate to the rogue king. Don't you see that Camelia is mated to not just mated to me alone but to the three of us. Our bond is destined by the Moon goddess so you and the rogue king including her ancestors or whoever it is you mentioned should be able to accept it."
"I don't believe in the Moon goddess. I don't believe in anything like it. I might be a part witch, part werewolf and a part vampire but I choose to live more like a witch and according to witches, we don't believe in things like the Moon goddess."
"Well, keep your fg belief to yourself. Camellia is not going to see anyone so just forget it. Tell the rogue king himself that he's nothing but stupid to ask of my mate. Who does he think he is? Did he think I'll just foolishly hand him someone special to me?"
Carlos yelped and growled before returning his sword in its sheath.
"If you don't give in to their request, Alpha Carlos, it will anger her ancestors. Not just her ancestors but the rogue king too!"
"Shut up!" Carlos roared as he dragged his sword and directed it at the tribrid's tummy, his face reddened and as it was filled with rage.
Xavier held his arm and stopped him from shoving his sword into her.
I remained on my spot as I witnessed everything; everything the tribrid said was so complex and confusing that I didn't know what to do at the moment.
Should we believe her? Should we not believe her?
She had this smug smile that always made my stomach churn in anxiety. Her intention to help us earlier was to make us accept her request. It was such a hard request.
How can I, Camelia Stewart, be wanted by a rogue king? For what?
Though my father didn't tell me much about my forefathers, but my grandmother had once told me that some of them were witches as well as werewolves. I never knew they were rogues among them.
Could the tribrid really be saying the truth about them being rogues? Or is she just trying to fabricate things up?
"If Xavier hadn't stopped me, I won't think twice before shoving this into you," Carlos muttered as he withdrew his sword from her and kept it back in its sheath.
"Because you helped us with breaking the spell doesn't mean I'll give in to your request. Remember I asked why you were trying to help us in the first place but you only assured me that you were doing it just to help us. Why didn't you tell me earlier that this was your plan all along?"
"Because I know you won't need my help anymore if I told you. Anyways, I guess my request to have your mate in exchange for my favor isn't accepted by you right?"
"L-e-a-v-e! So I won't kill you the way I killed Cecile. Don't you dare return or say anything about the rogues." Carlos blurted while she wore her hood, a wry smile tugging her lips.
"Good bye Alpha Carlos. I have done my part by delivering the message. It's up to you to accept it or not,"
She said lastly and left in no time.
Gosh! This is getting harder than I thought.
When shall we ever have peace?
"Don't worry about everything she said, Camelia. You won't be taken to any rogue king. We'll always be here to protect you," Carlos said as he caressed my hair gently. Xavier approached me and flashed me a warm smile.
I pulled all three of them together and gave them a hug; Being cuddled by them will probably reduce my anxiety and fear a little.
After some weeks, the tribrid didn't show up again and we were so relieved. I was finally able to resume back to school. Carlos had suggested that a guard should follow me around in school but I rejected the offer, as I felt it might make me uncomfortable.
"I've missed you so much, Camelia! I'm so happy to finally see you." Hazel screamed as she pulled me closer and gave me a tight hug.
"I've missed you guys too." I returned a smile at them as I release myself from their hugs.
Kate leaned forward and asked me. "Urm. I heard the spell has been broken. How were you guys able to go about it?"
"All thanks to the famous tribrid. She helped us with it,".
"Wow! Really?"
"Yes," I replied with a cute smile. And when I remembered what the tribrid said, perplexity overtook my features.
"What?" Kate asked, giving me a curious gaze.
"Nothing. It's just that the tribrid was a little strange. She said a lot of words that I found to be strange and unbelievable."
"Like what?" Kate asked as she opened her locker.
We were walking in the corridor that afternoon with our arms entwined.
It was break time so we had all the time in the world to discuss together.
"Wait! Have you guys seen my bracelet? I've been looking for it for the last three weeks. It's black and has a little white mark on it." I asked as I directed my gaze at each of them.
"No! I haven't seen any,". Hazel replied immediately while Kate hesitated to give a reply.
"Do you mean that special bracelet you showed me the other time?" She asked, squinting and blinking than normal.
"Yes.. Have you seen it?"
"Urm… No.. no I haven't. Sorry," Kate replied and smiled sheepishly.
"It's okay. I'll search the whole school later for it I guess," I said as I let out a deep sigh.
We spotted something on my locker. It was a paper and it stuck out of the edge, grabbing our whole attention.
"What's that?" Hazel asked curiously.
"I don't know. Maybe someone is trying to pass me a message,"
"Maybe someone anonymous. " Hazel guessed as we scurried towards it.
I grabbed it and stretched the crumpled paper so we could have a proper look at its content.
It read,
Dear Lady Camelia.
No matter ho
w hard you run, you can't hide from me.
Aren't you curious to know about your roots? There is something important you should know.
YOU ARE MINE!
