Chapter 47

Chapter 47

"Where is she? Where is the tribrid?" Carlos inquired after we descended the grand stairs, his face imprinted with curiosity.

The guard from earlier approached him with a bow and said, "I shall fetch her, your highness,"

He left and returned with her within a minute. The lady smirked as she pulled off her hood, her expressionless face studying each of our features.

Carlos advanced towards her and said, "How were you informed about our current plight? How did you know a witch casted a spell on my mate? A spell that tied her life to hers. If you can tell me that then I'd feel satisfied and a maybe trust you a little,"

"I am the great tribrid. There is nothing I do not know." The middle aged lady implied while Carlos chuckled softly with crossed arms.

"You haven't been sincere with your answers. How can I trust you?"

"Well! Then I guess you don't need my help then. I was only willing to help but it seems your doubt towards me shows that I'm not welcome,"
The tribrid said with a bow and turned around in an attempt to leave.

Carlos held her hand and stopped her. "I've heard quite a lot about you. I know you're not just a werewolf and a vampire but you're also a witch. Perhaps it would be nice if I knew your name. I've only known you as the famous tribrid but I have no idea what your real name is."

The tribrid smiled and turned around to face Carlos. Her smile turned into a smirk and she shifted her gaze at me and back at Carlos.

"My name is Guinevere; Guinevere Gill," The tribrid revealed with a warm, shady smile.

If I could point out something fishy, it's the fact that she had this mysterious smile on her face. More like a weird forced smile that wasn't genuine.

Can we really trust her?

"Okay, nice to meet you Guinevere. But could you be more specific in your answers to my previous question?"

"As regards the answer to your question, well, I knew of Cecile's intention earlier. I knew of her plans to tie her life to your mate but I was too late to stop her." The tribrid revealed while Carlos narrowed his eyes at her, still having some doubts about her statement.

"Why didn't you stop her in time? And how did you know about Cecile's plan in the First place?"

"Don't forget that I am still a witch, Alpha Carlos. I know Cecile quite well as she's one powerful witch too. I have quite a number of followers and they supply me with information about Cecile. She wants to take revenge on you and your pack and not just that but she also wants to take revenge against you by harming your mate."

The tribrid disclosed while Carlos nodded slightly, believing her statement this time around.

"Okay then. Thanks for showing up. You said you wanted to help us by breaking the spell right?"

"Yes. Alpha Carlos. It's my pleasure to help you,"

Carlos squinted his eyes as he gave her a narrow gaze, studying her expression.

"Why do you want to help us?"

"If you truly need my help, Alpha Carlos, you wouldn't ask me this many questions. Your mate's life is on the line but it seems you you aren't concerned about it anymore because if you do, you'll comply with me,

"Remember, I'm the great tribrid and a great witch after Cecile. Apart from Cecile, I am the only one who can help break that spell. I guess Cecile won't be interested in breaking the spell herself until she gets something from you in return."

Carlos nodded in understanding and said to her.

"Okay then. No more questions I promise. By the way, thanks for coming all the way just to help us."

The tribrid smiled and shifted her gaze towards me. She held my hands and told me to follow her.

"Where is she taking me to?" I asked Carlos, my face imprinted with worry.

"Follow her mate. We shall trail along too." He assured me with a smile.

The tribrid took me to a pond and placed me in it. I shuddered as worry took over me, wondering what it was she wanted to do to me.

My mates gave me a look of comfort and I sighed, trusting that they'd protect me if anything bad happens.

The tribrid asked one of my mates to stay with me in the pool and Xavier volunteered to do it.

While he stayed with me in the pool, he caressed my hair and held me tightly so I wouldn't feel scared.

The tribrid went to a far end and brought out her materials. Carlos watched as she brought out a knotted cloth from her bag. She sprinkled water on it and began to chant along.

She raised her hands and pointed it at the knotted cloth which moved gently in the air. Just while she continued with her chantings, the knotted cloth loosened itself and I felt like a heavy load was taken out of me.

The tribrid opened her eyes and walked in our direction.

"The spell is broken. Did you feel it?" She asked as she turned to face me.

"Yeah! I feel like something heavy was taken out of me. I feel like my real self now. Does that mean my life isn't tied to Cecile anymore?"

"Yes darling. It isn't,"

Xavier cocked his brows and twitched his lips. He said, "There's only one way we can know if the spell is truly broken."

"What way?". Carlos asked as he narrowed his eyes on him.

"Follow me!" He charged and we trailed behind him with curious faces.

He arrived at the dungeon where Cecile was kept. Carlos nodded and smiled at Xavier; he probably already got what he was up to.

"I can see you're all back. To torture me I guess?" Cecile said with a hint of pride and without hesitating, Carlos dragged her out of the dungeon.

"Don't forget. If you harm me, you harm your mate too."

"Keep shut Cecile. Let's do a little experiment on you," Carlos said as he brought out his sword.

Cecile's eyes grew wide and she wondered what he wanted to do to her.
Before she could say anything, Carlos slashed his sword on her arm and a cut appeared instantly.

"Ahhh! How dare you! " She growled as she glared at Carlos.

"Camelia! Are you okay?"

"Yes I am. I'm – I'm okay," I responded as I checked my arm to see if I have the cut too.

Luckily for me, the cut wasn't there and I didn't feel any pain either. That means my life isn't tied to Cecile's anymore.

"I can see you maniacs have undoed the spell. I shouldn't have given you a lot of time to think about it then. I regret not killing myself so your mate could have died along with me."
Cecile blurted as she gave Carlos a furious gaze.

"Well! Guess who's dying alone now!" Carlos yelled as he shoved his sword into her tummy.

She groaned as blood spilled out of her mouth. Without wasting much time, she fell to the ground and closed her eyes in death.

"Good!" Xavier muttered as he shoved his sword in her one last time.

"I guess you all owe me now. For helping you, you must do me a favor." A voice said at the last end, drawing our attention.

We turned around and we weren't shocked to see that it was Guinevere – the famous tribrid.

"You said you would help us. You never asked that we would return a favor." Carlos said his face etched with confusion.

"Don't be silly, Alpha Carlos. Nothing is free in this world. You return a favor with a favor. It's as simple as that,"

"Then what is it that you want? Tell me!"

"I want your mate , the lady Camelia!"

"What!" We all chorused at once, our eyes widening with our jaws dropping.

What on earth was she saying?

What does she want from me?

"What nonsense are you saying? Why aren't you requesting for gold, money or luxurious items? I have all of that.. What do you want with our mate?" Carlos inquired as he brought out his sword from its sheath.

"I
do not need your mate for anything. The rogue king is the one who needs her,"

What! Is she really joking at this point?
