Chapter 54 - Ancestral connection
Chapter 54 - Ancestral connection
Karim was taken to a dark forest. A place that was the complete opposite of what Mother represented. It was a cold, gloomy and suffocating place. As if there was no hope.
The dark wolves pulled Karim by his chains on hands and neck, as if he was an animal and not a human being. He felt weak and incapable, and the will to die had taken his mind several times. But Sera’s face gave him strength.
Soon he could see a crowd ahead. More than a thousand shadow wolves looked up, greeting their king. And thousands of slaves stood beside them, being held by their chains.
Karim looked up and saw the master standing before them, just above, with a malicious and vain smile on his face. The front of a throne made of bones and wolf skins.
"My brothers, we have won at last." He spoke as loudly as possible, showing his teeth and his followers howled in response. "The feelings of useless alphas and omegas have become their greatest enemies. The primordial alpha, FELL." He shouted the last words with intensity in a loud and euphoric sound.
Karim looked wide in surprise. If it were another time, he would be happy. But now was the worst possible time.
" Your hatred is his own enemy now and therefore, we are free to do as we please. The enemy who has taken us thought he might be our ally. But we have not forgotten the lives he took." He spoke with intensity and his allies howled euphorically in response.
" She also forgot us." He continued." The Mother betrayed us and replaced us." The ancestral wolves howled hard at hearing that." She abandoned us. And sent soldiers to kill us when we went against her new creation."
The howls increasingly loud made Karim’s head hurt. Mother was hated there, he could feel the anger, sadness and sorrow in the sound that those beings emitted.
" She raised new children, believing that the balance would be better, but you already know what happened. They betrayed her and forgot about her. Now we can use your filthy and weak creation to overcome it. For the Mother cannot reach them anymore." The leader screamed in ecstasy as the howls increased. The desire for revenge was present in that energy.
" And today we have a new addition. One of her favorites joined us. She abandoned him too. " The leader gave a malignant and sarcastic laugh as he looked with his vibrant golden eyes at Karim.
"Akiner. Akiner. Akiner." The ancestral wolves shouted their leader’s name, howling and howling as he leaped from his platform. As he passed, his followers received him with obeisance and howl. He went to Karim. His golden eyes looked at him as easy prey. But the alpha was not.
Karim looked up and growled, his inner lobe appearing in his eyes.
" The puppy has claws." He laughed, holding Karim by the neck and throwing him to the ground. Akiner’s paw was carried to Karim’s stomach and pushed him down.
Karim coughed blood and growled. But then he gave a sarcastic smile. "Is that all you can do? I can’t even turn into a wolf. Fighting a weak human is easy. What a coward." Karim laughed with disdain.
Akiner gave a sober smile and ordered: "Remove the chains."
Karim smiled when the chains were removed and he could finally feel a little more free. He approached Akiner in attack position and transformed. His wolf showed his teeth and attacked the enemy.
Karim could feel the power of his ancestor running through his veins, leaving him stronger, more powerful, faster.
Akiner growled and showed his claws, he attacked Karim, throwing him away, but the younger stood up, even bleeding. His lupin form growled, showing blood-filled teeth. His eyes shone golden, receiving the abilities of his ancestor.
Karim remembered his aunt Damia and how caring she was, but also powerful. Her power, now in him, vibrated with hatred at the sight of that wolf thirsting for his blood. As Lincoln Cohen was once.
A golden aura took hold of Karim and he attacked Akiner, knocking him down. The wolf seemed surprised by the boy’s strength. But he did not let himself be shot. The great wolf stood up and growled, showing his teeth and attacking again.
Karim was knocked to the ground and the sound of his body crashing into the ground was heard. He groaned in pain, but stood up anyway. The boy smiled and it irritated Akiner. No one had challenged him like that before.
Karim could feel the power of the Mother there with him. All the love and devotion that Damia felt before, made the energy of the Mother become stronger in her being.
Murmurs were heard from all sides, irritating the great wolf. "Shut your mouths." He growled. "There is nothing special about it."
Furious, he looked at Karim who even with his forehead and mouth bleeding and bruises on the stomach, was with a smug smile on his face.
Akiner threw him to the ground again, but Karim managed to attack him with his teeth, injuring his stomach. The wolf howled and squeezed Karim’s skull, wounding him severely.
Akiner removed the lupine body of Karim from himself, who by a miracle was still alive. The whispers had increased and something unexpected made that the faith of some of them who were there could be restored.
Karim’s body was healed. There were no more wounds or stains on his body. It seemed he had never been hurt.
At that moment, everyone was silent. This was the proof that Mother was there, that she was with those who believed in her.
Even Akiner seemed astonished. The leader stayed several minutes without saying anything. Just processing what he saw. Until finally his mind made him act:
"Lock the rookie up until he learns to obey." He screamed in fury and soon his minions came to obey him.
Karim let himself be arrested with a smile, even healed, he still felt tired. But what still made him smile were the hopeful looks in the eyes of Akiner’s slaves. There was still a chance to turn this game around.
