Chapter 175. A Perfect Life
Chapter 175. A Perfect Life
"Dance with me, lady?"
Riley looked up, left her cherry juice and smiled gently at the man who had just reached out in front of her. She didn't waste the opportunity to dance with this handsome man and took his outstretched hand in front of her face.
"Of course. It's an amazing party and I can't miss dancing with a guy like you." Riley smiled gently.
The man led her to the center of the ballroom, joining another couple who had already started their dance. His wide palm gripped Riley's tiny palm, which was so soft. He smiled widely at everyone, as if he was celebrating his success in persuading a princess to dance with him.
"Beautiful music. Thank you for asking me to dance."
Riley pressed herself against the man, holding on to his sturdy shoulders, and they began to move in sync with the melodious classical music. The soft violins play beautiful notes with the rest of the orchestra. Riley closed her eyes while following every movement made by her dance partner. What a beautiful night, she thought happily.
"Are you alone, lady?"
"Not. I came with someone."
"So where is your friend?"
“He went to get food. How about you?"
"I am alone. It's my first party since I arrived in New York."
"Oh, welcome to New York." Riley smiled gently. "There are a lot of amazing things you can find here."
"Yes. And one of those amazing things is you, my lady. You are a miracle to me.”
Riley smiled gently in response to the overly polite teasing that slid smoothly from his sexy lips.
The man was stunned to see the sparkle of beauty on Riley's face. He felt lucky tonight to have found a girl like Riley to be his partner.
"You are very beautiful. From the first time I stepped into the ballroom, my eyes couldn't move away from you."
"Really? Thanks very much. But I don't mean to flirt with anyone here at all."
"You're not flirting with anyone, lady. But I was enchanted by your beauty."
The man distanced himself, putting distance between himself and Riley to kiss the back of Riley's hand like a gentleman. He then pulled Riley closer again, and they moved together to the beautiful classical music. His warm palm was on Riley's back. The man moved his palms to caress her soft back beneath the golden satin gown that hugged her curves snugly. Riley's bare shoulders were as white as porcelain. Very beautiful and awesome. He couldn't hold back his saliva when he saw it all. His hand tried to feel her charming bare shoulder, and he felt so happy because of his luck tonight.
"Sorry, can you just put your hand on my shoulder?"
"Oh, I'm sorry."
The man stuttered and put his hand back on her shoulder. They move right, left, then spin once when the tempo of the music has a few beats. And then they stopped when the music stopped with such a beautiful ending.
"It was a great dance. I enjoy it."
"Me too. Can I stay with you all night?”
"Unfortunately you can't."
Riley shook her head slowly, pretending to be sad as she looked at her dance partner's face.
"Someone has come to take me from you."
Just as Riley finished with her words, someone suddenly came between them. He pushed hard against the man's chest and glared at him fiercely.
"You only have one chance, man. And don't ever use your disgusting hands to grope my wife."
Logan grabbed Riley's hand roughly and half dragged Riley out of the ballroom. But Riley wasn't angry at all. She just giggled at how possessive Logan had been lately. She liked to make Logan stick out his fangs and horns for other men who openly teased her. And sometimes she did things on purpose to infuriate Logan, just to see the annoyed look in his eyes.
“If it was Landon, that man would definitely be battered in his hands. You should remember that well, Riley.”
"I know. Even very well. I wouldn't have caused a ruckus if it was Landon. It's not his day, right?"
“Yes, I will be with you for the next three days.”
"Perfect!"
Riley smiled widely, while Logan showed an adorable, gloomy face. Riley cheekily poked his chin and gave a soft kiss on his cheek.
"Forgive me."
Logan stopped his steps in the hotel lobby, slightly melted by the apology that Riley said very gently. It was his fault for not being able to control himself well in front of Riley. He was too blinded by jealousy of a man who was trying to seduce his wife.
"Apology accepted. Moreover, I know you did all that on purpose to take revenge on me. You're upset because last week I left you on a business trip."
"We all miss you. Archer and the twins miss you."
"I miss them too. Especially, Mandy and Heidi. They are so cute on video calls.”
Logan wrapped his wife's shoulders in his arms, kissing the top of her head gently. He inhaled the very fragrant lavender scent from the top of his wife's head. He really missed the moments with his beautiful wife, and they could share intimacy with each other.
"I want you, Riley."
"I want you too," Riley said shyly while hugging Logan's slender waist. She purposely pressed her head against Logan's sturdy chest.
“They must have been asleep by the time we got home. Tonight is ours, baby. Let us go home."
Logan eagerly led his wife to the lobby. A valet had the car ready and handed over the key. Logan placed a few dollar bills in the palm of his hand. The man was so happy and smiled widely.
“It's great to be able to make other people smile.”
"I learned a lot from you, honey."
Logan took Riley's hand, kissed it gently. He really thanked God for sending an angel as beautiful and kind as Riley. His chaotic life slowly turned into a very beautiful and perfect life. He had a family that he loved very much now. Archer and the twins gave such a beautiful color to his life.
Not only Logan, Landon also admitted the same thing. Landon told him that he had never been that happy and content before. They have such a perfect family that they wouldn't want to trade it for anything. Now, home was the place they missed most. Every time they went on a business trip abroad, they always looked forward to the day when they came home to meet their adorable children. The two-year-old twins had become very talkative and attentive towards Logan and Landon. They both knew exactly who they were talking to and never misrecognized their father.
“The years have changed so beautifully since the twins were born.”
“They are miracles. Archer also grows smarter and more independent. I'm grateful for the life I have right now."
"Ohh Logan... I'm touched."
Riley squeezed Logan's right hand that was free from the steering wheel. She had experienced positive emotional things since they got married. Although it wasn't easy at first, they made it through smoothly. There were things they had to adjust to each other. Mainly because Logan had an alterego that was the complete opposite of him. Riley had to be patient with Landon and Logan having disagreements in determining the direction of their lives. They sometimes got into strange arguments. If Logan didn't agree with the way Landon made decisions for their family, Logan would lock Landon in his body so that Landon couldn't take control of his body.
Riley didn't know why her husband could even fight with his other personality. It was a funny and rare case. She used her personal experiences to write a journal for her final exam before graduating from Charleston University. She got a lot of support from her lecturers and friends. After graduating, she also received many job offers at several government-owned social institutions working in the field of children and women.
But, Logan and Landon strictly forbid her to work. They insisted that she stay at home, only take care of their family and be the only queen to lead their household. She could not refuse her husbands’ request and was forced to follow their rules. After all, she had just given birth to twins. She couldn't leave a toddler and two babies at home while she worked. She decided to obey her beloved husbands’ request to stay at home.
So far, Riley was happy with the arrangement they had agreed on. Logan and Landon were finally able to compromise with each other. Together they built a harmonious home for their little family in New York.
"Why are you just silent, honey?"
“I only think about our lives these days. Glad that we were able to go through all the difficult things in the past.”
“I hope you truly forget the terrible things we once did to you.”
"I've forgotten about it. Don't worry," Riley smiled gently.
She turned her face to the window, enjoying a beautiful spring evening in New York. The streets were still so busy, the twenty-four hour shops stood out the most among the closed ones. Tourists were still roaming the streets to enjoy a quieter New York night without the sound of car horns. When Logan's car passed a group of old tourists, suddenly the image of her father appeared in her mind.
“Honey, next month I want to visit my father in Charleston. We haven't visited him in a long time.”
"Okay. I think the kids really miss their grandpa too.”
“Dad has found the right people for him. The people he wanted to live with. He has a community that accepts him with open arms.”
“I'm glad your dad is happy living in Charleston. How is Kaella doing now?”
“Oh, I forgot to tell you. Landon was beside me when Kaella called me last week. She will give birth next month. The baby is a girl."
“Great. She finally has her own baby. I remember when Kaella said sadly that she wasn't pregnant yet because she had some problems."
“But luckily, Felix and Kaella are very solid with each other. They support each other. And Felix's family also loves Kaella very much."
"I'm happy for them. She deserves that happiness."
“Wren helped them with some IVF advice and actions at the hospital where he works now. Kaella thanked Wren many times after the program was successful. Kaella was planning to take her baby to see Wren."
"Wren would be delighted. He's become an even greater doctor now. I just sympathize with him because he hasn't found the right woman for him right now."
"Wren is overworked and forgets to find a life partner."
They looked at each other and smiled. Riley could catch the sincerity in every expression Logan made. Everything had changed drastically. Logan changed his life and Landon tried to make peace with his past. What a perfect life to live.
Their children had a grandmother at home who always pampered them twenty-four-seven. Betty helped Riley with everything about the household. When the twins were born, Betty became a nimble grandmother to take care of the twins who sometimes fussed and fought for milk. Well, Riley was truly grateful to get the sweet life she had always dreamed of.
