The Dark Angel
Arina's Pov
I lost my father, because of that human I lost the only family I had. We underestimated both her wisdom and resilience. Her mates did not hesitate turning against me and my father when they realised I wasn't her. Despite showering them with love they chose her over me.
My heart is filled with desire for revenge. Every bad thing that happened was a result of Keira's scheming. If she had accepted her earlier defeat the angel kings would forever be mine. And I would not have turned myself into an ugly demon while trying to escape the wrath of her mates. I want to punish her, but I have learned that she is better than me in literary every way. Good thing I know someone that can destroy her and she would stand no chance at fighting back. Good thing I still have two wishes left to make.
I could wish for her death, but I am not sure that is what will be granted since the darkstone seems to work in stange ways. I made a wish to disappear and became a demon. I need to Zedon's help to go back to who I was before. I also need him to destroy my enemies and make the kingdom of Lunacrest mine. I will decide what to do with the angel kings once the dark angel has destroyed Keira and granted me the powers I need to become the mighty queen of Lunacrest.
I hold the darkstone with the ugly claws that replaced my pretty finger when I made the first wish. I make the wish to meet Zedon, the angel that my father believed would fight for people like us. People that were denied every beautiful virtue, yet they were expected to be as great as those that were blessed with dazzling virtues.
The stone's dark energy glows, darkening the wretched room I am in even further. Then a blinding light appears in front of me, forcing me to close my eyes as it pains staring at it.
Suddenly it feels like my soul is being rippled out of my new body. I want to turn and run but my body refuses to move. My soul leaves, and suddenly I am in a strange land, filled with fog and devoid of sunlight.
I can barely see a few metres away from where my feet stand due to the thick fog. Not that there is much to see as the dark ground is bare.
Another blinding light appears ahead of me just like the one that sucked my soul into this weird place. This time the light doesn't hurt my eyes, probably because I no longer have my physical body. But this time a tall figure steps out of the light, dressed in shimmering cloak of black and gold. A sword with golden handle hangs from the leather belt around his waist. His skin is pale as snow, contrasting his dark eyes are whose gaze is as cold as ice. I shiver at the sight of him, but he is the angel I desired to meet. So I bow my head.
He looks quite young for an angel that has existed since the beginning of time.
"Your majesty . . . master Zedon, I wish to know where I am. What is this place?" I ask.
The angel regards me with distaste, just like the angel kings when they realised that I was not their beloved mate.
"This is the spirit world, the world between your world and mine," he answers in a voice as cold as his gaze. "You made a wish to see me, but I cannot enter the physical world, so I dragged your soul here. You have only a brief time to narrate your troubles," he adds.
"Your Majesty, my worst enemy -" I begin but he cuts me short.
"The queen of Lunacrest destroyed your scheme to steal her identity and the love of her mates. Yes, I know," he says in a disdainful tone.
"She is a human! One with no royal blood. A weak human has no business ruling a kingdom," I argue bitterly.
"Yet she so easily defeated you," he mocks.
"I was unaccustomed to her trickery. Her mates killed my father, the only person that ever loved me unconditionally. Surely you must hate the sons of your dead brother. I will serve you forever if you destroy them and their queen," I plead.
The angel smiles. I wonder if my offer pleases him.
"There is little I can do while in this world or mine. You must go back and make one last wish if you really want my help. Grant me entry to your world," he orders.
I barely nod in agreement before I get sucked back into my ugly body. The darkstone is still clasped between the sharp claws. The darkstone does not grant good wishes, such as going back to my former, beautiful body. So I must hope that once I have granted Zedon an entry into this world he will help me become a beauty.
"I wish to grant the mighty Angel Zedon access to my world. May he speak and walk among us," I say.
The blinding light appears once again and the angel steps into the physical world, looking quite pleased by my work.
I fall down to my knees.
"Your majesty . . . my first wish turned me into this ugly monster. I am sure that by your powers I will become a beauty again," I request.
"You are quite the fool, woman. Surely you did not think that I would waste my time helping a pathetic loser," he says in disgust. "I sent my loyal servant to help you become the queen of Lunacrest, because I thought you could make the angel kings lose hold of their virtues again. But you got defeated so easily. You're a disappointment," he says.
I gape because I had no idea what that the doctor that helped us cast spells against Keira and the angel kings was a servant of the angel. I failed them indeed. But why couldn't he just destroy the angel kings? Why seek to make them evil?
I would like to help you end their lives once and for all," I state proudly, but he scoffs.
"Killing them will not make their souls unworthy of inheriting my father's throne," he answers. "In my world virtues mean everything. And my brother's sons will take away my rightful throne if they continue acting like their dead father. I will kill them, but only after they have failed every test of virtue and proved to be unworthy of my father's throne," he reveals.
"So you're going to test their virtues?" I ask in disappointment. "Will you at least kill their queen after you're done?" I demand.
"Sure, their beautiful queen will die with them," my master answers.
"Your highness, I offer to be your most loyal servant until this quest is over," I beg.
There is nothing I desire more than to be there when Keira Daniels suffers for all that she has done.
"I have thousands of wise and charming servants, some that are very close to the angel kings. Tell me, why do I need you after you?" he asks.
"I will be the most loyal, your majesty!" I answer
