Chapter 94 Chapter 0094
•RICHARD•
"Do you think Susan knows you're using her for her money? Her comments about men who use women for money sounded personal," Greg commented when we arrived in my office.
I had just called Natasha and asked her to babysit Kyle so I could ask Susan out. Alone.
I figured if I kept Natasha home with Kyle, she wouldn't want to tag along with Susan if she went out.
"It doesn't matter because I plan to ask her out and change her mind about me." I sat on my chair and texted Katie to take Kyle to Natasha's place when she had time later in the day.
I didn't want Kyle to be around when I brought Susan home. Plus, it would save me the extra hundred dollars of hiring someone to watch Kyle.
"You want to ask Susan out? Do you realize what you're saying, man? What if she tells Natasha the truth?" Greg asked as he sat on the visitor's chair, and I scoffed.
"She won't tell her anything. Do you think she would've helped me with all that money if she didn't wish to have something more than business between us?"
"I thought Natasha was the one who made that possible. Susan wouldn't have invested in your company if she weren't Natasha's friend. Though I'd like to support your relationship with Susan, I'm afraid you might lose both girls if they discover the truth. What will you do if Susan runs a background check on you and discovers that her investment didn't help with anything here?"
I looked at Greg and couldn't believe how useless he was. He wasn't helping me with anything.
"She probably won't care after I lure her into my bed. She doesn't know what to do with her money, and I want to give her all the ideas when she gets in bed with me," I smirked as I leaned back in my chair and dialed Susan's cell phone number.
"Your plan better not backfire, Richard." He shook his head as I lifted the phone to my ear and waited for Susan to pick up the call.
How hard would it be to seduce Susan Wilson and get her to send me any amount of money I want? I bet she would jump when I told her someone was plotting to get me killed.
"Hello, Susan speaking. How may I help you?"
"Susan, you're speaking with Richard Martinez. I was wondering if you and I could have lunch today. As an investor in my company, I would like to brief you on our progress and plans."
"Oh, I — I must check my calendar and confirm if I have an hour to spare. What time are we speaking?"
"Is 2 PM going to be good for you?" I wiggled my eyebrows as I looked at Greg. He rolled his eyes and looked at his phone.
"Yeah, I think that would be fine. You can send me the details, and I'll meet you there. Thank you, Mr. Martinez."
I hung up the call and got up from my chair. "Now, that's how you win a date with a lady out of your league. Make her think you need her more than she thinks."
"Oh, really?" He got up, slipping his hands into his pockets. "I hope that works when she tells Natasha about your lunch date."
"Seriously? You're supposed to be on my side."
"I am on your side, but I'd hate to feel embarrassed for you. What you're planning to do won't work, Richard. I've played this game before with friends, and it didn't end well."
"When I get Susan in my bed, I'll give you some advice."
"I saw Clyde when I went to Natasha's place. Are they back together?" Katie asked me on the phone when I arrived at the restaurant.
I scoffed and clenched my fist. "It's impossible. She wants us to be a family and knew I would come to drop Kyle off, so she wouldn't be with Clyde."
"Mom and I told you she's a whore. She's playing you and Clyde. I can't believe she wasn't even embarrassed when she realized I saw Clyde in the house."
"She's doing this on purpose." I thought as the door opened in the restaurant, and Susan walked in with her security guard.
"What do you mean?"
"I'll call you back, Katie." I hung up the call and welcomed Susan to our lunch.
I had booked the whole restaurant and hired a band to play for us. She looked surprised when she saw the setup and scoffed before she sat in her chair.
"The food looks delicious, Richard."
"You look beautiful."
"So," she took the glass of juice from the counter. "How's the company? Are there any positive changes?" She asked.
"Well," I sniffed, grabbing my glass of juice. "Someone has been threatening me and sending me hostile texts. I think Natasha has told you about Roman, hasn't she?"
"Yes. She told me he's in a dungeon."
"He was taken and killed. His brother found him and blamed me for his death. Natasha knows I did that for her because Roman wanted her dead. But now I don't know how to tell her that Andrea wants me dead."
"My God," she gasped, placing her glass on the counter, and looked around before she answered. "The person who was stalking us and kidnapped Greg because of me. Do you think it was Andrea?" She asked, leaning forward.
I took out the crumpled note and shoved it at her. When she saw what Andrea had written, she sighed and looked at me.
"We must tell Natasha about this. If Andrea's threatening you, he will come after Natasha as well, and I don't want her to get hurt, Richard. She's my friend."
"How do I tell her that when she's cheating on me after everything I have done for her?"
I looked at her, hoping I was getting through to her. But when she sighed and looked away when I mentioned her cheating, I knew I was right, and my heart skipped a beat because I was hoping what Katie told me wasn't true.
Regardless of my plans, I loved Natasha and hoped we would work things out.
"You know?"
"What do you want me to do, Richard?" She looked at me. "If it's true that Andrea is after her, then I'm not safe."
"I know someone who can help us. But we will need money and to keep this from Natasha for some time. Can you do that? I need to sort this out before dealing with her cheating. I'm afraid that if I confront her now, I might lose my son, and I don't want that. Kyle is everything to me, and it would kill me to lose my little boy. Can I trust you, Susan?"
She nodded.
