Chapter 93 Chapter 0093

"They've arrived so fast?" Susan asked when she found me pacing in my room, holding the DNA test results envelope in my hand.
The lab had delivered to the house a few hours after I left with Susan and went on a dinner date with Richard. I couldn't open it when I returned because I was tired and drunk.
I was anxious, and my heart was racing. I kept thinking of the possibility of Clyde being Kyle's father and Richard being his father.
I tried to pinpoint the exact time I fell pregnant but couldn't tell since I slept with Clyde one night and with Richard the following night.
When I was with Kyle at the mall, I looked at him, hoping to see some resemblance to Clyde or Richard, but I didn't see them both until I gave up.
My baby didn't even ask me questions when I asked him to swab his mouth for dental purposes.
He was almost eleven, and I thought he would ask me what I wanted to do with his DNA swabs.
"Yes. I'm waiting for Clyde before opening them. He's supposed to be here," I groaned. "I don't know why he's taking so long."
"Oh, your phone is ringing."
"Is it Clyde?" I looked at her.
"No," she shook her head, handing me the phone. "It's Richard. Do you think he's still angry about how we embarrassed him last night?"
"We didn't embarrass him, Susie." I took the phone from her and sighed. "Not when he doesn't know we know what game he's playing."
"If you say so."
"Hey, Richie." I smiled, rolling my eyes as Susan walked out and left the room, closing the door behind her.
"I was hoping you could watch Kyle later today. Greg and I have a project to handle, and I don't want to pressure my mother to babysit when she's still out for her birthday."
"Yeah, that's fine. You can drop him off at my place."
"I'll do that. Thank you, Natasha. I love you."
"I'll see you soon." I hung up the call and was relieved when I heard a car outside.
When I walked over to the window and saw Clyde hopping out of his car, I breathed and went to the couch, sitting with the envelope in my hand.
The door creaked open, and when Clyde walked in, I got up for a kiss and a hug before I gave him the envelope to do the honor of opening it.
"I'm sorry. I tried to get here as fast as possible. There was traffic, and you know how bad it could get," he said as he opened the envelope and looked at me after he had taken the letter out of the envelope.
"The possibility of Richard being the father is as great as the possibility of you being the father, and I hope neither result will change things between us."
"It's okay." He opened the letter and read it as I paced, glancing at him and trying to calm my racing heart.
"What does it say?" I asked, feeling the pit in my stomach worsening.
I never wanted to put my son through what I had to put him through when I had to swab his mouth for DNA testing. If I had been more careful and less careless, I wouldn't have slept with both men on different nights without protection.
I messed up and would feel terrible if the DNA tests said Clyde was the father because it meant I had to sit Kyle down and tell him about his biological father.
Richard would also be heartbroken because he loved my son, regardless of the shit he did for money and everything else he put me through.
He was a devoted father and would do anything for Kyle.
"He's mine." He showed me the tests, and the probability of the DNA samples was 99%.
I didn't know whether I should be happy he was the father or be sad that I had to tell Richard and Kyle the truth.
"Oh," I breathed. "What are we going to do?"
"I don't know." He sat on the couch and cupped his head in his hands.
"Nat!" Susan called outside the door, knocking.
I walked to the door and opened it. "What is it?"
"It's Knox," she whispered. "She quit and is on her way to Seattle."
"She quit?" I gasped. "When did this happen?"
"She sent me her resignation letter. Here." She showed me the email, and I shook my head in amazement.
Text: "Tell your manager, Diana Georgre, that she can shove the job up her nasty ass. I didn't take the job to be treated like a disease. I'm not thanking you for the offer."
"Can we talk about this later?" I sighed, trying to tell her that Clyde was in the room.
"What do I do? Should I talk to Diana about what happened?"
"Call Knox, and I'll call Diana as soon as I'm done with what I'm doing."
Susan nodded before she turned around and walked away. I sighed as I walked to the couch and sat beside Clyde.
"I've sent the DNA tests to the lab, and I am expecting them in three days or fewer. If she's mine, I will be happy, but if she's not, I don't know how I'll feel. I've been raising her for the past two years, and I love her. So, I can't imagine how Richard would feel about a son he's been raising for almost eleven years. This will crush him," he looked at me. "We can't tell him the truth now, Natasha."
"Despite everything he's put me through and turning me against my son, I wouldn't wish to see the hurt in his eyes when he finds out that Kyle is not his son. So, how long are we going to keep this from them?"
"Once we find a way of telling them the truth."
I leaned my head on his shoulder and exhaled. I had just gotten Kyle back, and things were amazing between us, and I didn't want to make things awkward again when he found out that I had cheated on his father.
It would mean that Richard was right when he told him I cheated and broke our family apart.
