Chapter 249: Will He Forgive Me?!

Chapter 249: Will He Forgive Me?!
Kelly Anne's POV:

I continued to sniffle as I tried to regain control over my emotions, but it was a losing battle at this point. In that very moment, a specific thought entered my mind as I was fighting to regain control over the tears that kept streaming down my face as I lay there on my back with Jasper's arm resting under my neck. The last thing I wanted to do was to be a blubbering fool when I was trying to pour out my soul, explaining my situation to someone whom I desperately wanted to spend the rest of my life with.

The question is, would that actually happen, knowing who I was married to, even now? I mean, would Jasper accept that I now know that I would be the cause of his pain? Would he even want to spend the rest of however long his life was with me as well? When you think about it, from here till the end, as it seemed, could that even happen? Would he be willing to accept that as a factor in our new relationship?

I mean, in reality, this is the first time I have heard bullets raining down upon our heads, and I had to see someone that I dreaded seeing again. Sure, before it was from people I didn't know, but the last time I knew who it was coming from. And yet the last thing I remember is that Shane was standing there, directly across the street. I recalled that I closed my eyes no sooner than he placed his hand behind his back. Why was I so foolish to think that I would walk away from the situation unscathed?

As I thought about it even more, I don't exactly know what happened to Jasper from the moment I closed my eyes. Hell, I don't exactly know what happened to me. Yet, here we are lying in his bed, both in agony. Well, I was the one in agony at this point. He was the one supporting himself up on his right elbow as if that small patch taped to his shoulder meant nothing. Did he even feel pain? That would be the question of the day.

Jasper, the Mafia boss of the city, no, I mean Casper, he liked to be called Casper by others. Either way, was he able to feel pain? Would he be hurt if he were mysteriously shot by a random bullet or even stabbed by a knife? Would he even notice if that were the case?

What the hell is wrong with me? Why are my thoughts so dark and dreary? I'm better than this. Why would I even remotely think like this, as if I were one to want to put Jasper and his men in harm's way? That is the last thing that I would want. That is the last thing that I would ever...

"Kelly Anne," Jasper called my name this time, causing me to stop thinking mid-thought.

For some random reason, I was able to stop crying and that exact instance as well. I even turned over to look at him, no doubt that my cheeks were flushed red and swollen from the tears that stained my soft skin.

"Hmmm?" I mumbled as I attempted to swallow, and I tried to remain in control of my emotions right then.

"Why must you torture yourself?" At that, I could feel the tears swelling in my eyes whenever he asked me that particular question this time

Did he not know the random thoughts that ran through my head at any given moment? Did he not understand that my thoughts held me emotionally captive, and even then, there was something worse than that? My thoughts, even my memories, were haunted by someone I so desperately tried to get away from, but I fear that may be a losing battle even in itself.

"Will you forgive me?" I asked without even thinking at that precise moment.

"I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean," Jasper spoke up right then, questioning my former question.

Jasper had an interesting reaction on his face this time. Hell, he even jerked slightly back as if he didn't expect me to say what I just did. It was more like he was answering a question with a question that made no sense, when I was the one needing the answer. I needed to know, so I guess I should ask that same question again.

"Will you forgive me, Jasper?" I asked again, tears swelling in my eyes, trying to drive home that I was serious. I even felt that burning sensation in my nose, as if I knew another emotional spell was at hand and there was nothing I could do to stop it at this point. "I need to know the answer to my question. Besides, what the hell happened?"

Wait, where did that precise attitude come from? That came out a bit harsher than I had originally anticipated when I asked my question. Although whenever I looked over at Jasper this time, he seemed to be quite intrigued by my tone. He even went so far as to smirk at me, showing me that same sexy smirk that drove me wild any time I saw him look at me like that. What was the attempt he was trying to make? Would it work? Knowing that I was overly frustrated, upset, and on an emotional roller coaster?

His sudden change in reaction from being shocked to now intrigued caused me to narrow my eyebrows at him. I would even go so far as to question his reaction if it helped me get the answer I so desperately wanted to know right then. However, the longer I turned to look at him, he didn't move. Hell, he didn't even flinch. He just stayed right there, choosing not to say anything, and it made me wonder what he was thinking.

The entire time this was going on, his eyes were still swirling around with that deeper, darker blue reading on the innermost part of his crystal blue eyes. Here I was trying to pour out my soul to him, and he was thinking passionate thoughts about me. Did he not realize that Shane had just threatened my life if not his?

"Jasper, please talk to me," I nearly pleaded with him.

This was the first time that Jasper's reaction swayed. He narrowed his eyebrows as his smirk faded. He looked at me rather intently at this particular moment, and it was starting to make me nervous. I couldn't help it, as I could feel the tears starting to swell within my eyes once more. Jasper, noticing the change in body language, reached over and placed his palm on the side of my cheek.

"I want so much to tell you everything," Jasper said as we continued to lie there in his room with the lights dimly lit.

With each passing moment, I was becoming more and more aware of my surroundings. I was thankful that we were back in the penthouse. I felt safe here even though we were in the heart of the city.
