Chapter 248: It's All My Fault!

Chapter 248: It's All My Fault!
Kelly Anne's POV:

Finally, I managed to open my eyes. Right then, I couldn't believe what I saw first when my eyes were fully open. It was him. It was truly him! The man I longed for, even though I didn't know I needed him at the time. No, there was more to it than that. I wanted to be treated right. Women deserve to be treated with respect and deserve the world!

I am not sure how long it has been since I saw him last, and I thought I would never see him again if Shane had his way with me. I didn't care about anything else but keeping my eyes solely focused on him. He was mine, and I was his. He was the one and only Jasper 'The Casper' McGregor. No one else knew him like I did, or so I thought. I have never been treated to such a degree as Jasper treated me.

I didn't know where I was, and at that point, I really didn't care. Just as long as Shane didn't come back to haunt my thoughts, I wouldn't care. I don't understand how Shane could be somehow stuck in the deepest part of my mind. Why was it him that I heard of when I got lost inside my head? I may never know the answer to that particular question, but one thing is perfectly clear. I don't think I could exist another day without the man whose eyes were staring deep into mine.

The last thing I wanted to do was close them for fear of somehow being lost or trapped in the deepest part of my mind again, but I knew I was extremely tired. I could feel an overwhelming heaviness in my eyes, and I didn't exactly understand why that was. I could feel it as the tears started to swell within my eyes, forcing me to blink several times as I tried to hold back the tears.

"Meine Liebe, I am right here, and I am not going anywhere," I heard Jasper say softly, looking at me intently.

I swallowed hard, blinking again, staring deep into his eyes as they were swirling around, knowing that he was thinking nothing but warm and passionate thoughts about me. "I'm afraid," the words slipped past my lips.

"What is it?" Jasper asked me, his tone ever so soft now as he reached up to stroke the side of my face when he spoke next. "What is it that you are afraid of?"

I couldn't help it when I instantly closed my eyes after feeling the back of his fingers lightly brush the soft skin on my face. I immediately opened them again, for fear they would stay closed and that I wouldn't have control over my own body to open them again. This fear was real. It was overpowering, and I didn't want to be lost without Jasper. This was a hard concept to process. Why was I longing for him so much? I didn't understand that completely.

"Meine Liebe, you can tell me anything, you know that, don't you?" Jasper asked me softly, and this time, when I blinked my eyes, I shed several tears as I swallowed hard, trying to prevent myself from openly crying.

I wanted nothing more than for him to be able to read my mind at that precise moment, but I was afraid of what he would find there if he actually did. Would he know that Shane lurked there? What would he think of me if he found out that I was taunted by Shane when I went to a bad place in the back of my mind? How would I be able to explain something like that to a man as powerful as Jasper?

I wanted so much to tell him that I was afraid to lose him, but I was afraid that if I said those specific words that it might actually become a reality. The tears in my eyes were swelling even more as I continued to swallow hard, attempting to remain in control of my own emotions. I wanted so much to look away from his eyes as I knew my emotions were swelling, and I was having a hard time trying to control them.

"Just tell me, I know you want to tell me, I know you want to say what it is," Jasper told me, continuing to slowly stroke the side of my face.

Just then, he readjusted his hand, moving it about so he could place his palm on the side of my cheek. I could feel the warm penetrating my soft skin as I sniffled several times. That's when I reached up to wipe my nose with my hand. I didn't want to keep this from him, but I was afraid to tell him. How was I going to tell him my innermost fear? How was I going to tell him that I was afraid?

"I know what it is," Jasper spoke softly, causing me to look at him with hesitation.

"You do?" I asked him abruptly.

Suddenly, I tried to look down, knowing I might not be able to hold it together for much longer if I kept staring into his crystal blue eyes, with that darker inner ring sensation that seemed to draw me in.

Then I spoke up, my voice breaking as I said, "I'm afraid to lose you."

I paused as I took a breath, not even realizing that I was now staring directly at his bare chest as he was lying there on his side, as I was lying there on his right arm. It was in this precise moment that I noticed something was different. There was a small square gauze patch taped to a portion of the upper right side of his shoulder. What happened? Oh, my God, was he injured?!

I couldn't help but as the tears were overwhelming at this particular moment. Was I... somehow the cause of that? Was it me? Was I the one who caused him to be injured?

My eyes suddenly found his again, and my jaw dropped open. I couldn't believe it. I gasped, inhaling sharply. I was in complete shock at that precise moment. My words even said as much.

"It's my fault!" I told him as I attempted to sit myself up on my left elbow, but that was a mistake all in itself. I instantly rolled back onto my back as my right hand reached up and grabbed for my left shoulder, and I screamed out in sudden agony as I was flooded with an intense amount of pain.

"No, no, you must be careful," Jasper called out to me as he hovered over my body, lying there next to me on his bed in his penthouse suite. "You were injured, but I'm here to help."

"You got hurt, and it was all my fault," I told him as I turned to the side to look at him as my voice breaking even more. When I spoke this time, I was nearly shouting at him, unintentionally, of course. "If it wasn't for me, you wouldn't have been hurt!"
