Chapter 110 Chapter 110
Chapter 110 Chapter 110
Laura's POV
I'd have scolded Agatha for causing my heartbeat to skip when she said she had something to say, but I wasn't gifted the chance to as we took to our heels again.
I followed Mom closely. I wouldn't want to lose her the second time. Mom was part of me, and part of me couldn't be left here.
“We need to go separate ways so they won't find us!” Came Agatha's voice when we got to a particular point.
“No! I can't leave Mom to go alone. Let sought this out!”.
“Hey! Don't move an inch!” We suddenly heard a voice, and immediately, we took cover, diving into trees barks. My breath became heavy, and that was the more I became obvious of my surrounding.
“Why did you risk your life to save us, Agatha? You could get killed.” I said with heavy breaths.
“Do you know what it took me to get to find you guys? As of now, I'm the one who can save you guys before it gets late.” She replied.
“This is risky, I don't want you to-”
“You should stop worrying about what's already done, and think of ways we can get away from these men.” She cut me off immediately.
“We aren't armed. We only need to run.”
The gunshots sounded again, and I knew they were closer. Mom dived deeper, yet carefully, until she was fully hidden, and then I did mine.
“Come on, Agatha. You need to come hide before they see us.” I whispered. She nodded and dived into her part, the leaves, and woods covered us that it'd be quite difficult to know we were hidden unless we made noises.
At that moment, we heard their footsteps, and I felt my body tensed. My prayers were answered as they walked past our hidden spot when they couldn't find us around.
“I think they are gone.” Agatha announced to us as we silently came out of our hidden spots.
“Yeah, they are” I responded.
“Now let's run back!” She added. “Mom, come on. Just a little more, we'd to be out of here. I promise you,” I assured Mom as we rushed out of the woods. When we'd returned, we didn't spare another glance.
“Fuck, hide!” Agatha warned, and we covered up to prevent ourselves from being seen. “We still have two of them at the main gate?” She added.
“How did you come in earlier? We can go through that way.” I told her, and she sighed. “Fine, let's go, but be at alert. Your-”
“Ahhh!”
I was suddenly yanked back with a strong grip on my hair that tears threatened to leave my eyes.
“You think you guys can escape from me, didn't you?! You think it's that easy?!” I heard Sasha's voice, and I tensed again.
“Sasha...” Agatha's face saddened. “Please drop that gun down...” She added.
She laughed in response. “And you think I will obey as you've said? Like I said, you guys can't escape!”.
“Let my daughter go, I beg you.” My mom said.
“Sorry to say, but you three are dying.”, She said.
“Have a heart for once, will you! I know you've always hated us to begin with, but you have a family, don't you?! Imagine if they are-”
“I'm not going to imagine anything, so don't you even dare! Don't you dare, Agatha!” I watched as she stopped Agatha from speaking. I whimpered, trying to free from her grip. I elbowed her, then threw the gun swiftly from her grasp.
“Run!” I shouted as we took to our heels again. If this was the way we were going to be running, until we were out of here, then let's continue.
“Laura!! You bitch!” We heard Sasha's voice, and I knew it wouldn't be too long before she'd catch up to us.
“Mom, please try to run faster. I beg you,” I told Mom, nervously, and fear obvious in my eyes. Was this how if felt when you are at the verge of death and life?
I glanced at Agatha for some moment, and for the first time, I was proud of her. She didn't think about herself, and came down to save us without the thoughts of something bad going wrong. I'd have pulled her in a hug, and get her whatever she wanted, but we were in the middle of something else.
“Stop or I will shoot!”
“And I'm serious this time!” Sasha's voice added. We screeched to a stop, totally knowing that we're screwed. Slowly, we turned to her, a frown plastered on her face as she gazed at us like she had been craving our death for so long.
“You've been craving for such a day to come, didn't you?” I spoke first, breaking the silence.
“Of course, what else would I be here for?” She retorted.
“You are heartless! You're just like Aaron, heartless freaks! That's what you both her!”
“Fucking shut up.” She yelled.
“And what if I don't? You are going to kill me? Bury me? Or dump me by the roadside?” I asked, my voice firm. I didn't want her to see my nervousness. Sasha would be smart to use that against me, but at the same time, I feared what she could possibly do.
“That's a good idea. How about dumping you by the roadside? I'm sure that would be added to my plan.” She squealed.
“So heartless...” I mumbled, infuriated.
“Stay quiet, Laura. We are..”
“I don't care anymore, Agatha. Just take Mom away from here,” I whisper to her, unable to stop myself as I moved away from them.
Sasha's lips curved into a smirk. “You want my life, don't you?” I blurted.
She nodded. “Of course. I've always craved that. Have any last words to say?” She retorted with a question, and cocked her gun.
“What the fuck do you think you're doing, Laura? That insane bitch is going to kill you!” Agatha shouted.
“Get Mom out of here! Just forget about me, Agatha!”
“No, no, no. I'm not going to let you die here, Laura, No!” Mom screamed when Sasha grinned and pointed the gun at me. I shot my eyes with tears, expecting the worst to happen that I'd be dead, but then a gunshot came, I was still breathing which was weird.
“Mrs Karma!” Agatha's voice prompted me to glance down to see my Mom on the floor, and Sasha disappeared.
“Mom!” I called in tears, using my strength to pull Mom up.
“Mom! Don't you dare do this to me! You don't have to die!” I screamed, agonizingly.
“L-Laura,” Mom's hand glided to my face, caressing it smooth as she got weaker.
“Mom!”
“Let's take her to the hospital!”
With the help of Agatha, we took Mom to her car and immediately, we zoomed off with me constantly checking on Mom as she bled.
“Mom... Don't close your eyes. Don't close your eyes.” Panic washed through me as Mom smiled sadly.
“Mrs Karma?” Agatha called, her eyes on the road as she drove with speed.
“She's loosing pulse! Drive faster, Agatha!” I cried out, holding unto Mom like an airbag.
Mom coughed out blood, her hands clutching tight to the part she got shot.
“Why?! You shouldn't have gotten in the way for me! Mom!”
She smiled again. “I'm happy you're still alive- and that's- what matters...” She coughed.
“Save your strength and stop talking, Mom!”
“T-Tell Larry that I-I love him so much. I-I love you so much too, baby.”
“Mom! No! Stop talking! Save your strength!”
“I beg you, Mrs Karma, save your strength. We are almost there.”
Suddenly, Mom succumbed to darkness. At first, I thought she had driven to sleep, but then I checked her pulse, negative.
My eyes widening like that of horror. “Mom!!”
“Mom! No, Mom!”
I gaped at Agatha. “She has no pulse. Mom isn't breathing!”
Agatha shook her head slightly as she screeched to a stop in front of the hospital.
“I will go call the emergency nurses!” She said, as I tried to regain Mom.
“Mom!” I cried out. Soon, Mom was taken on a stretcher as they paved way to the ER.
“Mom!”
“Shush, she's going to be fine. Don't stress your health.” Agatha pulled me back immediately with a comforting smile that I could tell the sadness behind it.
I shook my head negatively. “M-Mom..” I tried to speak, but no words came out. I was short of words, I wanted to see Mom.
No.
“She will be alright. She has to be.”
“Mom stopped breathing, and... and... and...”
“You are getting stressed out. Stop talking.” She cut me off. I paced to and fro in front of Mom's ER, tears never lacking in my eyes. My heart raced faster.
“She will be fine,” She added.
We waited for fifteen minutes before the lights went off, and a doctor walked out with an expression I couldn't decipher.
“Doctor, what happened to Mrs Karma?” Agatha was the first to ask when he got to us.
“Are you related to her?” He asked in a low voice, his eyes glistening.
“I am her daughter.” I walked in front of Agatha, my eyes full of hopes until he said...
“I'm sorry, but we lost her.”
It felt as if the earth has stopped moving, and darkness had taken over. I was out of words, and lacked tears. I didn't know when my body went limped.
“Laura!” That was the last word I heard, and I passed out.
