Chapter 109 Chapter 109
Chapter 109 Chapter 109
Agatha's POV
“Hey! What are you doing here, and who are you?!” A deep voice came from behind me, causing me to bring my steps to an abrupt halt.
Jesus Christ. I knew I was down for.
Craning my neck, I slightly glanced at the huge man behind me, my hands raised in the air as if I were getting arrested by the corps.
If Aaron finds out I'm out here, I'd be doomed, and my plans to rescue Laura and her mom would be in vain. He'd end our lives right here, and without a bloody trace.
So I turned properly to look at him in the eye. Thankfully, I hadn't gotten walked far to the place. Else, I'd have gotten caught by several men.
I swallowed, and thought of the only thing to save myself at that moment. And as much as I hated to say the words, I blurted. “I'm Aaron's girlfriend. He asked me to be here.”
Fuck! Those words sounded so bad.
The man gave me an odd look, glancing from my head to toes for a moment, his brows knitted with confusion shone on his eyes with how he took me in. “But Mr Aaron doesn't stay around here,” He replied.
Oops!
Then I feigned a response. “But he asked me to come here. I'm sure of it! Hold on, don't you believe that I'm his lover?” I blurted again.
“That's not what I'm trying to say, Ma'am. Mr Aaron isn't around -”
“Are you saying that I'm mistaken?! Seriously, he needs to fire incompetent people like you!” I cut him off.
Jeez. Such a nice show. I had thought he bought it, and would let me go but still, he gave me a look of declination.
Dammit.
I had no cho
choice, so I dipped my hand into my bag like a whirlwind, and brought out my pepper spray and sprayed at him.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck!” He cursed, moving backwards with closed eyes. I seized the chance to run as fast as my legs could carry. I ran towards the back, praying silently none of them caught a glimpse of me.
I stopped at the back, a place I didn't recognize and decided to rest a bit, exhaling deeply. That was a marathon race earlier, and I had to break in before he alerts the others about an intruder.
Quietly, I opened the backdoor, my eyes sharp and clear as I walked in with calculated footsteps. I held my knife firmly against any attack from behind or front. I was ready for anything, even if it meant ending my life today.
The corps were foolish, they wouldn't make a good impact on rescuing Laura and her Mom, it was up to me instead, and I wouldn't care about the limit I need to get to.
Then I made notice of Aaron's absence. The bastard wasn't even present to begin with. At that moment, I knew it was good chance for me to intrude without hindrance.
The rooms were different, and it created suspicions in me as I checked every corner, inching toward the hallway that lead to three similar rooms.
As I inched closer, I heard whimpering sounds and low laughter then voices which I recognized. It took a great deal for me not to burst right through the door, but I refrained, still inching closer until I got to the door frame, and the sounds became more audible.
Gently, I opened the first door with my knife still at alert. I shoved it up, expecting to see one of the men but instead, a woman sobered on the floor, her clothes tattered.
“Do you-” She paused as she fully glanced up at me. I blinked, short of words to say. Laura's Mom?
“Mrs Karma?” I asked as it soon dawned on me that she was Laura's Mom, the resemblance was uncanny.
She sniffed, staring at me with what looked like distaste.
“Relax, I'm not going to hurt you... I just need to do this really quick.” I added like I could read her thoughts as I rushed to her, untying her tied legs and hands.
“Did they send you to kill me? Is it time?” She snapped at me, her eyes teary that I was taken aback. My eyes softened as I stared at her.
“I'm not going to hurt you. I'm going to save you and your daughter.” I assured her, yet, she wasn't convinced.
“I can't trust anyone-”
“Listen to me, Mrs Karma. We need to leave!” I cut her off, luring her to use her strength to get up as we limped to the door.
When we got out, I made her stay close behind me until we got to the backdoor, the same place I came in.
“Here, take this.” I gave her the knife I held.
“Stay here while I go fish out Laura until we're back.” I said to her, and she nodded.
“Please safe my daughter. Do everything to bring her out.” She rushed her words.
“Hmm,” Without saying another word, I turned and strolled back in, keeping my steps steady until I got to the next room where conversations suddenly became audible.
Laura?
My ears perked up, and I couldn't resist the urge any longer as I walked right in without a second thought. Almost immediately, the frown that pictured of the one person I wasn't expecting to meet brought me to halt.
Sasha.
Jeez, anger took over me as I rushed to attack her. “You, bitch!!!” I sneered, raising my hand to shove at her, but she caught my spray in time, then she smirked.
“Who do we have here? Not anyone but Agatha Sloan.”
Fuck it! My hands were hurting.
“Let go of my hands!” I snapped.
“Agatha... Don't... Please go back.” I felt my nerves relaxing for the first time since I stepped into the environment as I tilted my head in the direction of the voice, my eyes softened that I almost forgot I was in Sasha's hold, and she could do anything to me at that moment.
“Laura,” I called, finally settling my eyes on her. Gosh, she looked healthier than I had expected. Wasn't someone who has been kidnapped expected to lose weight and look bushy? Why was hers different?
There were too many questions to ask.
“You want to join her? Right, I'll make it easier.” She threatened.
“Don't you dare!” I yanked my hands away from her grip, and she laughed.
“You are so smart, aren't you? How the hell did you get in here?!” She snapped at once, dropping her laughter, and I scoffed.
“Just as it should be.” I replied.
“I see. And you think you're going to leave here alive?” She sneered, her gaze fully focused on me. Silently, I prayed for a miracle to happen because I'd be down for anytime soon if this bitch brings me to my feet.
“You have no shame, don't you, Sasha? Let me make this clear to you...” I paused, and flaunted my hair at her. “You will forever be a maid and nothing more to anyone because you have no-”
I was cut short as she raised her hand to my face, shutting me up.
“I'm glad you are finally silent instead of running that mouth of yours! Who do you think you are?” She retorted.
For a moment, I took in the realization then chuckled and stood firmly. “Fortunately, you didn't shut me up because I'm now speaking.”
She eyed. “Such a proud-”
The conversation was cut short as the unexpected happened and Sasha was on the floor the next moment. I glanced up to see Laura had actually hit her with what looked like a weapon.
My eyes widened. “Did you just kill her?”
“Let's get out of here before she wakes up. Thanks for coming for me, Agatha.” Laura replied as she limped out of the room while I followed closely, still glancing at unconscious Sasha until we left the room.
“Don't let yourself get caught. I think there are cameras around.” Laura whispered to me as we kept our gaze at alert and ourselves included.
“I observed that. I rescued your Mom, we just need to leave without them knowing.” I whispered.
She nodded gratefully as we made our way through the backdoor. When we finally got out, I experienced a mother-and-daughter share hugs emotionally.
“We need to go before they come for us!” I alerted them.
“Yeah, we need to go.” They agreed and I nodded as we resumed walking, making sure they followed close behind me.
“Hey! Catch them! They are trying to escape!”
Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit!
”Quick! To the woods!” I ordered with a yell as we reversed and ran into the woods. Laura's Mom kept limping bit she tried as much as she could not to slow us down.
Gunshots came from behind us, including hurried footsteps and that was the more we increased our race.
“They are going to kill us!” Mrs Karma said.
“No! We can't let them do that! Let's go please, Mom.” Laura begged as Mrs Karma limped.
The gunshots became louder and clearer.
“If this is going to be the end for us, then I just want you to know that...” I paused, gazing at Laura.
“I love you! Quick, let's run for our lives!”
