Chapter 111 Chapter 111

Chapter 111 Chapter 111
Agatha's POV

Laura collapsed on the floor, like how I'd predicted. I noticed her pale state earlier. And immediately, she was taken into a ward where she was examined by the doctor while I waited impatiently.

I really prayed silently that she wouldn't be traumatized by the earlier incident. Her Mom was gone... That was the harsh truth, and there wouldn't be any reverse.

Though, I never knew Mrs Karma until today but noticing the interaction between the Mom-and-daughter, I could tell that they had a strong bond. The thoughts of seeing Laura go through misery made my heart to constrict.

Immediately, the doctor walked out of the ward. “Doctor... How is she?” I asked with a glint of hope blazing in my eyes.

“She'll be conscious any moment from now. She passed out as a result of the shock she received earlier, and it's a miracle that her baby wasn't scathed. I guessed that was due to how healthy she has been. Do you know what kind of foods she eats?” He replied.

I sighed in relief, glad that nothing had happened to her, then I shook my head slowly. “I don't know what kind of foods she eats, Doctor....”

He nodded with a small smile. “It's good.”

“Um, can I go see her?” I volunteered.

“Yeah, sure.” With that said, he flashed me a small smile again and walked away. Sighing in relief, I strolled into the ward.

“Wake up.” I mumbled, and as if my prayers were answered, her eyes slowly flickered open, but closed almost immediately. Gradually, she opened up again, and after a moment of surveying her surrounding, she braced up.

I managed a smile. “ Glad you are awake. I was worried sick about you.”

“M-Mom? Where's Mom?” It was the first thing she asked.

I swallowed, contemplating on the words to spew. Her eyes widened as realization struck her.

“Mom, I need to see her! The doctor said she's doing good, right? Answer me! I need to see her-”

”Listen to me, Laura,” I cut her off. She gawked at me with tears leaking in her eyes.

I gulped down nothing. “I'm afraid that we lost her. She-”

“No!!! You are joking, aren't you?!”

“Listen to me!” I yelled, she sniffled with a sudden calmness. My voice softened again. “Relax, okay? Promise me you'll be okay? You have to be. You need to stay strong.” I said, stroking her hair softly.

“Mom... Mom can't be dead. I don't know what to do, Agatha.” She murmured with tears as I increased my pace in her hair. “You will be fine, Laura. You will absolutely be,” I muttered.

“Mom...”

“Shush, it's going to be alright.”

“What happened to me? What did the Doctor say?” She inquired.

“You are okay, your baby is healthy. What have you been eating? You look healthier.”

“I would rather not talk about it.” She mumbled, I nodded in understanding. “Yeah,”

“We have to find Aaron and Sasha immediately. We need to make them pay for killing my Mom, Agatha. We need to stop them before they get to us again.” She added, hopefully.

“They are too many things to worry about. Eric is still in prison, and his company is going bankrupt. Home doesn't feel like home again since you became absent. Aaron is going to pay for his sins, in due time, but all that matters is to fix things in place.” I said to her.

“Eric? I have to see him.”

“The Doctor hasn't permitted you to leave yet. You're still in the healing process, Laura.”

“Mom is gone, what's left for me to stay here?”

“You are hurt-”

“Ah, thank goodness you are conscious again, Ms Laura!” The Doctor suddenly exclaimed as he sauntered into the ward, disrupting us.

“Can I leave, Doc? I want to.” Laura said immediately.

The Doctor gazed at me and back at her. “I hope you are aware that your -”

“You don't have to repeat it!” She cut him off. Dammit, I pinched her slightly.

“What kind of mood swings have you got?” I mouthed.

She scoffed.

“And there's nothing really bothering you. You are good to leave, Ms Laura. We hope you endure every step of the way. Have a nice day!” The Doctor replied as he turned and left without a trace.

“Okay, you heard that. I'm good to leave.” She shrugged her shoulders stubbornly, getting away from the bed. I saw the look of determination to see Eric in her eyes, but I wouldn't say the same for mine.

“I don't think it'd be a good idea to see him there. He disapproves of visitation these days, Laura.” I tried to stop her, but it was futile as she shrugged at my words.

“Now that I'm back, we will do everything to make sure he is out of there.” She replied.

I flashed a sickly smile. I took a step forward, and made to move when my head suddenly spun, and I almost lost my stamina.

Jeez, I felt dizzy.

“Agatha, are you okay?” I heard Laura's voice and her face etched with concern.

“Yeah, I just think I'm tired. It's really nothing, let's go.” I answered and slowly made for the door.

“You really helped alot today. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have been here. Don't you think you need to do a checkup?” She quizzed.

“I don't have to,” I croaked.

“I think you need to-”

“I said I'm fine. You don't have to worry. Let's get you out of here, and we'll find a way with the rest.”

“What do you think will happen next when Aaron comes to realize I had escaped? Don't you think it's risky that Sasha might tell him everything, and you'll be at risk? He is going to come after you...” Laura whispered as we walked along the hallway.

“Not when I have evidences against him. He would be a fool if he thinks he can get me.” I scoffed.

“How did you know about the hideout?”

“We will talk about that some other time. I'm just glad you are alive.” I tried to scratch the topic out of our head, but she didn't budge.

“You are trying to change the topic. Give me details, Agatha.” She muttered. Eventually, we left the hospital in my car, and in as much as I tried constantly to cheer her up, Laura never did feel the vibe to do so, though. From within, I knew she was still mourning the sudden death of her Mom.

“I had someone else do the clean job for me. Clara, a friend of mine who is into strippers things, just as kinky as Aaron likes, she did the clean job, and I took over by finding out everything.”

“I just need to settle something else as soon as possible before it becomes too late.” I concluded.

“And what is that?”

“There were some information that I recently got to know, and the company is involved. It'd mean chaos if I don't take care of it.” I answered.

She knitted her brows from the mirror glass of my car as I drove down the road. “You are still not telling me what I need to know.”

“I can't tell you more than that yet. And please... Don't tell Eric about anything because he's going to get all worried and worked up.” I replied to her instantly.

The faster I drove, the sooner we got there. Laura and I waited patiently in the visitor's center. I could still see strings of tears leaking out of the corners of her eyes, and I caressed her back slowly.

Then a cop walked to us. “The person you are supposed to see has been refusing to come.” He said.

“What?”

“Did you tell him who has come to look for him? I'm his wife!” Laura whisper-hissed.

“Calm down. Don't cause a scene,” I whispered to her.

“We will go inform him again.” The cop replied before turning his back from us and walked away.

“Didn't you hear what he said? He doesn't want to see us.” Laura countered at me. I sighed softly.

“That means we are uninvited, I guess. I told you, didn't I? He's been restricting himself from people ever since you disappeared”.

“Tyler could help us-”

Her eyes suddenly lit up in a direction like she had remembered something. Befuddled, I followed her direction, and my eyes did the same when we finally saw him approaching. As he walked, his gaze fixated on Laura, and no one needed to tell me what decipher in them... Awe.

When he finally got to our table, Laura didn't hesitate to throw her hands around him and cried on his shoulders. Awed, Eric's eyes shone with what looked like confusion, but he refused to reciprocate till she broke the embrace.

Then her hands glided to his face, caressing it softly with tears in her while my brother stared at her blankly.

“You are alive?” He crooned.

My phone suddenly pinged, interrupting the moment and that's when he turned to me.

“Um, I have to go. It's urgent,” I muttered, getting up to leave hurriedly.

“What is that?” My brother asked me.

I laughed nervously. “Nothing. Bye!”
