Chapter 704 Originally, You Remembered It All
Chapter 704 Originally, You Remembered It All
A light drizzle began to fall outside, and the sky turned gray and gloomy.
Suddenly, the door burst open. Leah rushed out quickly, got into her car, and sped away.
Samantha and Alexander chased out after her. Watching the car disappear into the distance, Samantha shouted, "You come back here!"
Alexander ordered, "David, take Larry and a few men to go after her."
"Yes, Mr. Sinclair." David received the order, immediately called for people, and drove off in pursuit.
Samantha frowned deeply and stood still for quite a while.
"Mom, don't worry. They'll bring Leah back. Let's go inside first," Alexander said.
Samantha looked away, turned around, and saw Kevin standing at the door. She took all her anger out on him and slapped him across the face.
Kevin barely took it without moving.
"Mom," Alexander spoke up, "Why are you hitting him?"
Samantha glared at Kevin fiercely and warned, "Let me tell you, Leah is not someone you can think about. Know your place and stay in your lane!"
"Yes, Mrs. Sinclair. Kevin will keep that in mind," Kevin replied with his head lowered.
Samantha shot him another nasty look and went back inside.
It was already evening, and the rain was getting heavier. The servants had prepared dinner, but neither Alexander nor Samantha was in the mood to eat. Lillian had to feed Henry and William and took them to the dining room.
"Alexander, where did Leah run off to? Why haven't David and the others found her yet?" Samantha asked worriedly.
Alexander was also puzzled. How could it take so long to chase someone down without any news?
Just as they were talking, the phone rang. David reported, "Mr. Sinclair, I'm very sorry. We lost Ms. Sinclair."
"What? You lost her? You can't even keep track of Leah—what good are you?" Alexander shouted angrily.
David said nervously on the phone, "Mr. Sinclair, Ms. Sinclair deliberately tried to shake us off. We didn't dare be too aggressive with her, and in a moment of inattention, she got away."
"Don't give me these useless excuses. Go find her now!" Alexander shouted and hung up.
Samantha asked anxiously, "What happened? They lost her?"
Alexander said, "They were being careful because of Leah's status and didn't dare do anything to her. They lost track of her in a moment of carelessness."
"A bunch of useless people! They're worried about her, but not afraid of you?" Samantha angrily slapped the sofa. "What's the point of having these employees!"
Alexander didn't feel like arguing with her and got up to go to the dining room.
Henry and William were sitting in their baby seats, obediently opening their mouths to eat.
"Daddy, eat," Henry said in a sweet childlike voice when he saw him.
Alexander smiled at him. "Daddy's not hungry. You eat like a good boy."
Lillian blew on the food in the spoon and asked him, "What's wrong?"
"Leah ran out in a huff, and David went after her but lost her!" Alexander said irritably. "He usually has no problem tracking people, but now when he goes after Leah, he's all timid and hesitant. Useless!"
"It's not that they're useless. It's like guards in ancient times—they wouldn't dare really lay hands on a princess either, so naturally she'd get away." Lillian fed the food into William's mouth and asked, "Did Kevin go look for her too?"
"No, I didn't tell him to," Alexander said, resting his chin on his hand and watching the two boys eat.
Lillian glanced at him and said, "Why not have Kevin go look? Maybe if he goes, Leah will come back with him. Didn't David lose track of her? Ask Kevin where Leah likes to go. Leah has always been close to him and likes to tell him everything. Go ask him."
Alexander asked skeptically, "Really?"
"I don't think I'm wrong. Have Kevin go look. I bet he can find Leah," Lillian said, nodding at him with certainty.
Alexander thought for a moment, picked up his phone, and said, "Alright, I'll listen to you."
He called Kevin and told him to bring Leah back.
"Mr. Sinclair, I should stay at home and do my security work," Kevin said on the phone.
Alexander said, "Cut the crap! Mrs. Sinclair is telling you to go, so go now!"
"Kevin doesn't want to go?"
"My mom just slapped him," Alexander said helplessly. "My mom took all her anger out on Kevin."
Lillian wiped the corners of Henry and William's mouths and said helplessly, "Just think of it as a slap meant for Leah."
After receiving the order, Kevin drove out of Sinclair Villa to look for Leah.
He drove along the road, looking at the people on the streets. The rain was heavy and visibility was poor, so he drove slowly, thinking about where Leah might have gone.
"Kevin, where do you like best in Rihegde? I like Eagle Ridge Caves. I really love the caves there."
A flash of inspiration suddenly struck Kevin. His instinct told him Leah would go there. He stepped on the gas and headed toward Eagle Ridge Caves.
The sky had turned completely dark, and the rain was falling harder and harder.
Kevin arrived at the location and looked at the towering mountains ahead, then walked forward.
"Leah! Leah!" Kevin cupped his hands around his mouth and shouted loudly.
His voice echoed through the mountains, sounding lonely and eerie in the night rain.
"Leah! Leah! Are you here?" Kevin shouted over and over.
Without any contact, Kevin had a strong intuition that made him firmly believe Leah had come here, and he would definitely find her.
The rain soaked his body, water dripping down from his hair. His eyes struggled to stay open in the heavy rain.
"Leah! Where are you? It's Kevin!" He continued shouting loudly, not giving up on any spot.
"Leah, Leah!" His voice echoed everywhere.
Suddenly, he faintly heard a weak voice calling him: "Kevin, Kevin..."
The voice was drowned out by the rain and wasn't very clear.
"Leah? Leah, is that you? Where are you?" Kevin stopped and listened carefully.
The voice in the rain grew a bit louder. "Kevin! I'm in a cave! There's a cave behind the bushes!"
This time Kevin heard more clearly and confirmed it was Leah.
"Leah! Don't move, I'm coming to find you now!" Kevin pushed through the bushes and went into the cave.
At the cave entrance, Leah sat on the ground hugging her knees, soaked through and shivering.
Seeing Kevin come in, she cried out in distress, "Kevin... you finally came..."
Kevin quickly crouched down and nervously looked her over from head to toe. "Are you okay?"
"I twisted my ankle." Leah pressed her lips tightly together, pain showing on her face.
Kevin looked down and sure enough, her ankle was red and swollen.
He comforted her, "It's okay. Come on, let me carry you further in first." He lifted her up by the waist and headed deeper into the cave.
Leah wrapped her arms around his neck and asked softly, "How did you know I was here?"
"I remember you told me you love coming here most, and when you're unhappy, you like to come here too. So I tried coming to look for you," Kevin said as he was about to set her down on the ground.
Leah kept her arms around his neck without letting go. Her eyes brightened with excitement as she asked, "So you remember everything I've said to you?"
