Chapter 705 Kissing
Chapter 705 Kissing
"Ms. Sinclair, let go first." Kevin realized belatedly that he'd said the wrong thing. He put away his earlier concern and said to her seriously.
Leah wouldn't let go. Like a sloth, she clung to him, staring intently at him. "Kevin, look at me. I just want to hear one honest answer from you."
"Ms. Sinclair, I don't understand what you mean." Kevin freed one hand and stiffly pried her hands off, setting her down on the ground.
Seeing his rejection, Leah felt a tightness in her chest and said angrily, "Kevin, you're such a coward!"
Kevin brushed the rainwater from his hair and got up to sit at the cave entrance.
Outside, the rain poured down heavily. Inside the cave, neither of them spoke. The silence was frightening.
Suddenly, Leah cried out loudly, "Kevin! Kevin!"
Kevin jumped up as if electrocuted and ran over. "What's wrong?"
"A snake! There's a snake!" Leah tried to stand up, but her ankle hurt too much. She could only scoot to the side.
Worried that a snake might actually bite her, Kevin quickly picked her up and handed her his flashlight. "Shine it around and look!"
Leah wrapped one arm around his neck and turned on the flashlight with the other hand, shining it around the ground. She didn't see any snake.
"Did it run away?" Leah asked.
Kevin looked around. "It's okay. I'll build a fire. Even if there is one, it won't dare come near."
He looked at Leah in his arms. Her light, elegant scent drifted into his nose. He took a quiet deep breath and said politely, "Ms. Sinclair, let me put you down. I'll go find some branches."
"Kevin, I'm scared." Leah rested her head on his shoulder, saying fearfully.
Kevin felt her body trembling slightly. She really was scared.
"Ms. Sinclair, I'll put you by the cave entrance and leave you the lighter. Otherwise, carrying you around won't make it easy to find branches."
"The branches are soaked from the rain. Can you even light them?" Leah asked doubtfully.
Kevin said, "I have a way. Just wait for me at the entrance."
The sky was dark, with pouring rain accompanied by lightning and thunder.
Kevin didn't dare go far. He gathered an armful of branches near the cave entrance and threw them on the ground inside. Leah turned to look at him. She didn't know what method he used, but after a while, the fire was lit.
With the firelight, the cave warmed up right away.
Kevin carried Leah over to sit down, while he sat across from her.
Leah had gotten soaked in the rain earlier. She reached out to warm her hands by the fire, looking through the flames at Kevin across from her.
Kevin kept his head down, looking at the fire, occasionally poking it with a stick in his hand.
As Leah warmed up, she recalled the past and said with a smile, "Kevin, do you remember? Once in high school, I also fought with my mom and ran here. I twisted my ankle that time too, and you came to find me. You carried me out on your back."
As soon as she started, Kevin remembered that incident. He recalled with her, "Of course I remember. You were crying so loudly that your voice was the only sound in the whole mountain range. I found you pretty quickly."
Leah said, "Kevin, I swear this place has it in for me. Every time I come to clear my head, I twist my ankle."
"The roads here are rough and hard to walk on. You're spoiled and delicate, so of course you'll twist your ankle if you're not careful." Kevin said, "So from now on, when you're upset, don't run this far. You worry your family."
As he said this, he remembered he should let Alexander know they were safe. But when he took out his phone, he found there was no signal.
He got up and went to the cave entrance, holding up his phone to find a signal, but it wouldn't connect. After trying several times, Kevin gave up and returned to the cave.
"Looks like this rain will last all night. We'll have to spend the night in the cave." Kevin looked at the smooth ground and said helplessly, "We'll just have to make do tonight. Stay close to the fire and rest your head on my leg. It won't be so cold."
Leah said sarcastically, "You're willing to let me? Don't you always avoid me?"
"Stop saying things you don't mean. If you're tired, come over now." Kevin leaned against the cave wall, not far from the fire. Resting on his leg, she could stay warm.
Of course Leah wanted to go over and rest on his leg. She propped herself up with her hands and scooted over twice, moving close to him and lying down.
His leg was firm and hard, not very comfortable to rest on. But Leah felt happy inside, wishing she could not only rest her head on his leg but also wrap her arms around it.
A few sparks crackled. Kevin looked down at Leah and saw her close her eyes, but her breathing wasn't heavy. He knew she wasn't asleep.
He said, "Leah, stop liking me. I'm not worth it, because I don't love you. I only see you as a sister."
Leah slowly opened her eyes, her gaze unfocused, and asked coldly, "Is that really how you feel?"
"You never believe what I really think. I told you the same thing last time. Leah, find a good man to marry. That's where you belong." After Kevin said this, it felt like a knife was piercing his heart, causing him unbearable pain.
Leah suddenly sat up, frowning as she looked at him deeply. "I don't believe it! I don't believe you have no feelings for me at all. You have feelings for me—I can sense it!"
"I don't. That's just your imagination." Kevin said seriously.
"Whether it's my imagination or not, I'll know once I try!" After Leah said this, she didn't hesitate. She leaned forward, grabbed his arms, and kissed his lips.
This was Leah's first kiss, her first kiss given to Kevin.
Her kissing technique was clumsy and awkward. She rubbed back and forth on his lips, wanting to pry them open but feeling a bit embarrassed, not knowing what to do.
Kevin was startled by her sudden forceful kiss. The next second he tried to push her away. But unexpectedly, he didn't know where she got such strength—she held him tightly, her lips moving all over his.
His body was stirred and felt strange. His heart also began to itch from her clumsy kiss. At the same time, he found it a bit funny that she, who usually seemed so open, didn't know how to kiss.
His tightly pressed lips began to loosen. His self-control wasn't as strong as he thought when it came to her.
Kevin turned the tables, pulling her into his arms—with a bit too much force, making her press against him. He lowered his head, used his tongue to pry open her lips, and they became entangled!
Leah's heart pounded wildly. Oh my god! So this is what kissing feels like—her whole body tingling, so wonderful. She couldn't help but lean forward, fitting more closely against him, their lips even more intimate.
Just as Leah was immersed in it, unable to free herself, Kevin suddenly stopped and pushed her away without mercy!
