Chapter 702 Sabotaging the Date

Chapter 702 Sabotaging the Date

Samantha was so angry at Leah's words that she slammed the table: "How dare you talk to me like that?"

The loud noise startled Henry and William, who immediately started crying for their mom.

Lillian picked up Henry and William, comforted them, and said to Samantha: "Mom, don't be angry. Leah's just joking with you."

"I'm not joking!" Leah said stubbornly. "I am angry, and I said it on purpose to make my mom mad!"

Hearing this, Samantha got even angrier and shrieked: "Leah! Are you trying to kill me with anger?"

Leah didn't want to deal with her. She stood up to leave.

"Where are you going?" Samantha demanded.

"None of your business!" Leah was so angry that she lifted her dress and ran off.

Samantha's chest heaved with anger. She pointed in the direction Leah had run and said to Lillian: "Go, bring her back!"

"Mom, calm down. I'll go find Leah right now." Left with no choice, Lillian dragged the two kids along to chase after her.

There were many guests, and it wasn't easy for Lillian to search with the kids, so she called Alexander.

"Honey, where are you?" Lillian asked, her tone not very pleasant.

Alexander said: "What's wrong? Where are you? I'll come find you."

"Don't look for me. Go find Leah. She and Mom had a fight. Mom arranged a date for her later, and how can that happen if she's not there?"

"Okay, got it."

Lillian hung up and took Henry and William to sit somewhere else. These two, mother and daughter, were both impossible to deal with. Better to keep her distance.

Alexander quickly found Leah. In a corner behind the villa, she was sitting there quietly, angry.

"How did you end up here? Your sister-in-law looked everywhere for you." Alexander sat down beside her and asked with concern: "Did you fight with Mom again?"

Seeing it was Alexander who came to find her, Leah called out softly: "Alexander."

"Your sister-in-law told me everything," Alexander said.

Leah said with grievance: "Today is Caspian's wedding, and Mom still arranged a date for me. Don't you think she's crazy? What is she trying to do? How old am I? Why is she in such a hurry?"

Alexander said: "Mom's handling this badly. But what can we do? She won't listen when we talk to her."

"Alexander, I don't want to go on dates."

"Out of all the ones Mom arranged for you, isn't there a single one you like?" Alexander asked curiously.

"Mom only looks at family background. She doesn't care what I like. Anyway, there's no one I like." Leah pouted and pleaded with Alexander: "Alexander, please, talk to Mom for me. Tell her to stop arranging these dates."

"You think I haven't tried? I don't agree with her being so pushy about setting you up either. It makes it seem like I'm unwanted!" Alexander said helplessly. "But you see, after I talk to her, does she listen? She still does whatever she wants."

"So annoying!" Leah said angrily. "Mom is so annoying!"

Alexander tried to persuade her: "She's getting old. Let's not stoop to her level. When she makes you go on dates, just go and halfheartedly look around, or find a way to scare the guy off. Have you tried that?"

"No, Mom's always there every time. I just go unhappy and come back unhappy."

"Then try it this time." Alexander said with a smile. "Who knows, you might actually scare him away."

"Okay!" Leah perked up. "I won't be obedient anymore. I'm going to fight back!"

"What are you saying? You make it sound like you're going to war." Alexander laughed and said: "Feeling better now? Stop hiding here. You haven't toasted Caspian yet, have you? Let's go."

Back at the wedding, Alexander said to her: "Mom had your sister-in-law look for you. Go to Mom first. Whatever she says, don't take it to heart. I'll go find your sister-in-law first."

He called Lillian, confirmed the location, and went to find her.

"Daddy, Daddy." Henry and William saw Alexander coming and ran toward him together.

Alexander held Henry and William's hands, one on each side, and sat down across from Lillian.

"Found her?"

"Found her. She was really angry. I talked to her a bit," he said.

Lillian said: "These two, mother and daughter, I don't dare offend either one."

"What happened? Did Mom lose her temper at you?"

"No, she's just angry with Leah." Lillian said, "Don't overthink it."

Meanwhile, Leah returned to Samantha with a sullen face, still not speaking, plotting in her mind what method to use to scare off her date.

Samantha also knew when to stop and didn't say anything more.

Suddenly, Samantha's phone rang. She answered it and immediately put on a smile, laughing with the person on the phone: "We're at the rest area, under the fifth umbrella from the left. We'll wait here. Okay, see you soon."

After hanging up, she warned Leah: "When he gets here, don't look so serious. He's the second son of the Scott family, good-looking and well-bred. Stop being so picky!"

"Mom, do you really dislike me that much? You're trying every way possible to marry me off?" Leah asked, hurt.

Samantha said: "I don't dislike you. You were born into a wealthy family, so there are many things you can't help. This is your fate!"

"My fate? This kind of fate, I'd rather not have it!" Leah sighed heavily, tears in the corners of her eyes.

Samantha didn't care. She pulled out a tissue from the table and tossed it to her: "Wipe your tears and touch up your makeup."

Soon, Brian Scott arrived with the matchmaker.

Samantha greeted the matchmaker while Leah sat there and glanced at the man.

Her heart skipped a beat. This man looked much better than all her previous blind dates! Tall, handsome, with good presence—he was much more pleasant to look at. But even so, she remained unmoved.

The matchmaker, also a socialite, said cheerfully to Samantha and Leah: "This is my nephew, Brian. Come on, let's get acquainted."

Samantha said to Leah: "Leah, come, say hello."

Leah let out a breath, having made up her mind.

She slowly stood up from her chair, standing crookedly with her body twisted, one leg swaying, and said with a thick tongue in a slurred voice: "Hey handsome, I'm Leah Sinclair."

Her posture was very arrogant.

Samantha and the matchmaker looked at each other, both shocked.

Brian seemed quite natural and said with a smile: "Hello, I'm Brian Scott."

Samantha angrily hit her hard on the back: "What are you doing? Stand up straight."

"Mom, what's wrong? Haven't I always stood like this?" Leah laughed, then pretended to pat her dress and said to Brian: "Mr. Scott, got a cigarette? I don't know where I left my bag."

Brian instinctively glanced at Samantha and said: "Sorry, I don't smoke."

"Since when do you smoke?" Samantha asked, going crazy. "Leah, I'm telling you, behave yourself. What do you think you're doing causing trouble here?"
