Chapter 137 Chapter 137
Kieran’s POV
As soon as John saw me, he glanced behind me “Where did Jess go?”
“She asked me to cover for her, she needs some time out” I sighed
“She looked like she was getting a bit fed up” he admitted as he turned back to look at the men “I think we need to approach them in a different way”
“How so?” I asked as I sat down
“I was thinking we do some trust exercises, they need to be able to trust each other. But they also need to be able to trust us”
He had a point “let me grab some food them we can start some trust training” I chuckled as I went to join the food line. While I was waiting, I started to think about what exercises we could do. These guys were just normal people, and we had been training them like they were seasoned soldiers. It was no wonder they were not picking it up and tried to skip on to the firearms training. I grabbed my food and went back to the table with John. “I think your right” I told him “We can not treat these guys like normal agents, I think trust exercises are a good idea”
“I will come and help you as I think that we need everyone to do the trust work”
We both finished our food and then went to the front to update everyone on our next task.
“We have decided to change the agenda” John told them “We have been trying to train you as a normal agent and that’s not what you are. Kieran and I will be taking you all outside and we are going to work on some trust exercises”
“Where is the female agent, Storm?” a guy asked
“She needed some time out, so went for a run” I told him “So you get me and Agent Grahams instead”
We led everyone back to the training grounds and John started to get them to do the basic trust drop while I went and set up a few team exercises. We needed them to trust each other and be able to work as a team.
“Ok” I smirked as I walked over “You guys need to learn to work together as a team and trust your teammates. For our first challenge we are going to play tug of war” I motioned to a rope behind me “The winning team will then skip fitness training and move on to firearms” I chuckled
That got their attention, and they all started smack talking each other. I called out two teams at random, and they both got into position. I loved tug of war as people always assumed it was a game of brute strength and they were wrong. You did not just need strength you needed strategy and I was interested to see who would win.
The first two teams went, and it was messy and took them all a while to figure it out, by the time the last team went they had been watching and figured out the strategy and both teams worked well.
“This is what they needed” I told John as I nodded as the teams “They are watching and learning what they need to do to win and using it”
“I think you have this handled” he smiled “I might go and sort things for the teams for after dinner” he looked over the men one last time before walking off and leaving me alone to finish my training.
The next challenge had one person blindfolded while another person gave them instructions. The guys were in the middle of the challenge when Jess came back. I ran over to her and pulled her into my arms. I did not have too much longer to go with the team and them we could all head in and have some food. I knew that Jess must be starving and I wanted to get her fed. Once all the pairs finished, I dismissed them all to return to the muck hall before walking back over to Jess. I wanted to make sure that she really was ok to return to training. Turns out she was and had even come up with an idea for what the teams would be doing next. I guess she also agreed that the teams needed to learn to work together. We headed back to the muck hall and went straight to the front before getting our food. Jess told everyone about the next challenge and told them that the prize would be them choosing what we eat for the whole day tomorrow. I liked the way she thought as I know that some of them would be missing their favourite foods that were most likely junk food. The only food we got served was healthy stuff that our body needed after gruelling training.
Jess took my hand as she led the way to the food line. I chuckled at her as she loaded up her plate and went back to our table. As soon as we all finished everyone went back to the training grounds and stood with their groups. Jess went to get a couple of the kitchen staff to come and mark down the winners as we all made our way to the start line. I felt kind of bad as I knew that with our team having us and John in it, we had a much higher chance of winning compared to everyone else. But like Jess said the whole team had to finish, not just a few of the members. I looked around at our team and realised that we might not win, unless we used some of the skills we had. Like Nick could carry someone and so could Hayley and Oscar. Hell, I could even shift and carry someone as well. I started to show everyone some warmup exercises after Jess came back and gave us all a motivating pep talk before turning to the kitchen hand Frank and asking him if he was ready to start the race. I was bouncing on my feet ready to get going, I looked around at the other teams and saw that they all looked just as motivated as I felt. This should be a good race, and I think this is just what they all needed.
