Calamities
Calamities
Alea's POV
I thought it was a dream when I first saw his blonde hair. Kairo was sitting next to me, though I didn't see his face, I knew it was surely him.
Then my mind went to the forest where I was having a fight with the guard and the illusions, the person who had showed up to save my life was Kairo.
Looking around the room, I recognized it in a second, it was the bedroom I had shared with Kairo.
Then my gaze darted back to him, and my heart got filled with fear.
What if I touched him and everything happened to be a dream? Or maybe another illusion that Dera had created for me?
If so then I would want to live in this illusion forever but I knew I had to give it a try.
I touched him. He didn't disappear and relief washed through my veins.
It was truly Kairo.
He lifted his gaze to me and I smiled. His face, his handsome features made me smile.
My Alpha was back.
Kairo hugged me and even though it hurts, I hugged him back, not wanting to break the hug anytime soon.
Then he released me, I didn't complain, I was just glad I got to hold his hand.
“Are you okay? Does it hurts anywhere?” He asked and I chuckled.
“I think you should have asked about that before you hugged a sick patient” I said and he sighed in relief, giving me a smile.
“Hearing you whine tells me you are truly okay”
“I missed you” I blurted out while trying to sit up on the bed and Kairo helped me up.
“I do too” He said and then asked me what had happened.
I was too weak to be explaining to him in details about what I had gone through in the past few days, but I told him all about my new discovery about who I was, the relics, and how Alucard was captured. Also about Dera, my cousin, and then how I ended up in that thick forest where I was being attacked.
“I'm glad you are safe” He said, kissing my hands.
I smiled. “I'm glad you are back to me. I was so damn scared that you'd never be able to recognize me again” I said, my vision getting blurred with tears merely at the thought of it.
He came closer, sitting beside me on the bed and leaned in, claiming my lips into his.
He kissed me, and I did the same. Then he released my lips, making me stare into his eyes breathless.
“I'm sorry I couldn't recognize you, Alea. I'm so sorry” He apologized but I smiled.
“It wasn't your fault, Kairo. It will never be” I said and he nodded, though I knew he still wasn't able to get rid of the guilt that he couldn't recognize me.
Then a knock came on the door and Kairo was the one who spoke up, answering it.
“It's me, Alpha” I recognized the voice to be that of kairo's beta, Rael.
Kairo allowed him in and he bowed, showing his respect to the both of us.
“Alpha. Where have you been all these while? We searched every nook and cranny of the city for you and the Luna but couldn't find you” Rael said and Kairo sighed before giving a response.
“It's a very long tale, Rael. And I wouldn't want us to get into the details right now” Kairo said and Rael bowed, understanding that he isn't to ask further on it except Kairo willingly give the information out.
“Alpha. The elders had assembled upon hearing about your return. They want an urgent meeting with you, Alpha” He said and I squinted my gaze wondering what the urgent matter could be. How urgent could the matter be that they forget basic manners that the Alpha needed a full rest first.
“Tell them to go back, we won't be meeting anyone today” I said, speaking up instead of Kairo.
“I'm afraid they won't obey the order, Luna” He said, and even in my weak state, anger surged through me while I wondered why the hell they wouldn't obey such a simple order from the Phantom Queen. From me.
“Actually…….” Rael was hesitating and then I knew, there was something going on in the pack.
“A lot had happened in the pack while you were away Alpha” He said.
“For how long was I gone?” Kairo asked.
“Two weeks” I answered him. We kept track of time back at the refugees camp.
“I will meet with them if you are too weak to do so, Alea” I told her. “They must have been so worried” I added, then let go of her hand but she held me back.
“No, I will attend the council meeting too” I said and he nodded then I got out of bed and we walked out together while Rael led the way.
We got into the main hall of the palace where the ministers had assembled, waiting for us to arrive.
“Looks like the Alpha who abandoned his duty is back” One of the ministers said.
I fisted my hand, angry at what the person had utter. But before I gave him a piece of his medicine, I studied the face of the others and realized that none was actually smiling.
None was glad that we were back, I could see that. Or rather there was a more important issue than rejoicing our safe return.
Luther stood out among the others as we settled down on the royal thrones.
“Alpha. Where have you been when calamities have been befalling the pack?!” Luther asked and my gaze widened in shock, wanting more explanations.
Calamities?
Then I recalled what Rael had said earlier, that a lot of things had happened.
The realization set in. That those things that Rael said happened weren't things to rejoice about.
My heart raced while I thought about what the issue could be. The ministers face said it was something serious and I couldn't help but get worried because of it.
