Awake

Awake
Kairo's POV

I pulled my sword out from the guard's stomach and watched as he fell to the ground, the other illusions of him disappearing from sight. Then my gaze darted to Alea who was on the floor, barely breathing.

I rushed to her, placing her in my arms as I watched her eyes flutter open and close. My Luna was weak, drained.

“Alea” I called softly, but she didn't give a response. I wasn't even sure she knew if I was the one holding her.

I didn't know what the guard had done to her or how she had gotten here but I knew I had to get her back to the pack to get her treated.

Alucard. I didn't know what had become of that bitch but I knew I just happened to be free from her grip and spell. I had wanted to find my way back to the back when I heard swords clashing here and coming to check, I saw Alea.

I picked Alea up into my arms, then walked towards the way back to the pack.

There was no carriage, no horses, nothing that could be of help when it comes to transportation. But I didn't care about that, all I cared about was the fact that I had to get her home.

It was a long walk but we finally got into the pack. People watched, murmuring and wanting to know what had happened to the Phantom Queen and why the Alpha looked so unkempt but I didn't care about them.

I was back, and I had brought Alea back. We are back together and that's what will ever matter.

News must have gotten to them in the palace that I was back as I saw two guards riding horses so fast towards me. They stopped and got off the horse while quickly bowing their heads.

“Welcome back, Alpha” They said in chorus and I nodded my head in response to their greetings.

“Get the royal physician quickly!” I said to them and they bowed understanding how grave the situation was and one of them quickly got onto one of the horses, going to carry out my order.

I gently placed Alea onto the other horse and got on behind her then kicked the horse to start its race.

It took only a few minutes for us to get to the palace. I got off the horse, ignoring each and every greetings that crossed my way. They were all lost, wondering what was the reason why I had left for so long that I also don't remember and why I had to come back with the Luna unconscious.

I took Alea to the bedroom and placed her on the bed, watching as her breathing was so unstable. I could have said she was deep asleep but I knew she wasn't.

Sweats cladded her face, her temple running hot when I touched it.

I just couldn't wait for the physician to get here.

He came and I quickly stood up, wanting him to check up on her.

“Skip the greetings” I told him when he was about to go on his knees to offer his greetings.

He nodded and moved to Alea's side checking her pulse and every other thing.

He tilted his head for a while wondering what could be wrong with her before finally standing up to face me.

“I'm afraid there's nothing seriously wrong with the Queen, Alpha” He said and I squinted my gaze, wanting him to explain more.

“She only has signs of weakness, nothing more Alpha. I'm afraid she collapsed just because of her drained energy” He said and I found myself heaving a sigh of relief.

“Thank you” I said, and moved to Alea's side.

“I will meet with the head of the kitchen and hand over to them the herbs they will prepare for the Queen for her speedy recovery when she awakes” He said and I nodded, my gaze still fixed on Alea.

“When will she wake up?” I asked.

“I'm not sure about that, but she will soon be, Alpha” He said and I nodded, then the physician exited the room.

I took Alea's hand into my hand, caressing it as I watched her face, recalling how I had seen her appear in Alucard's fortress the other day.

That was the last time I'd see her. The time I'd tell her to run, I recognized her.

The next moment I saw her was when Alucard had beasts surrounding her.

Alucard that devil was keeping me around her because she wants to get to Alea. Alea was of some importance to her, that was the only thing I knew.

“We've gone through a lot, Alea” I said to her, smiling like she could see me.

“You've been through a lot for the both of us and although I don't know if this is over, although I don't know where Alucard is or if someone else is trying to hurt you, I think we should make this end” I said, her hand still getting clutched into mine tightly.

“And for it to end, we need the Phantom Queen. We need you, Alea. And I miss you” I said, my head getting buried inside the bed but still I didn't let go of her hand.

I really do miss her. I don't know how long we had been apart for, but I knew it was already more than a week, I knew that much.

I felt something ruffling my hair and I was quick in lifting my head up. Alea's eyes were open, her hands midair. I looked at her, a mixture of surprise and relief.

“Alea?” I called and she smiled at me. That smile washed away all my worries, it made everything that had gotten empty in me get filled up again.

“I'm awake, Kairo. And it's good to see you again.” Her voice was weak, but I knew Alea was back to me.

I stood up, hugging her so tightly.

Back at Alucard's fortress, for a moment, I thought I'd lost her forever.

I thought I'd never be able to go back to her, but here I was, hugging her.
