Relic

Relic
Alea's POV

Dera had done something to the guy and that made me start seeing him as a lot of people. No! That's what it actually is.

I stood up, backing away from him as I counted how many people I'm up against. Eight in total.

“What's this?” I asked no one in particular, watching as the eight figures in front of me made different moves.

“It's a relic. Dera had thrown them your nail clippings and now they will do nothing but want to bite you into pieces” He explained and then it made sense to me.

I have only heard about such relics existing, I had never seen or used them before.

This relic is said to harm you once it has eaten your nail clips, once the power gets sprinkled on someone just like it got done on the guy here, I'd create illusions.

They will be able to fight me, and I could also attack them, but none of them will disappear until I get the main human among the illusions.

This is a certified death trap Dera had created for me.

I had trusted her even if it was just for a moment, I thought I'd get to see my mother, my heart and soul wanted to see that woman even if it was just for once, but I couldn't get to see her and the tragic part of it all was that I might not get back to the refugee camp alive.

The guy stopped his explanation and attacked me but I ducked. I might be powerless, but Dera was right, I'd do everything to fight back.

I drew a knife I had with me out, pointing it at the guy. He smiled, and the other illusions also smiled. I couldn't even recognize the real person apart from the numerous illusions.

“What can you do with this, huh?” He asked and before I could process his words, one of them rushed to me trying to attack me.

I tried to fight back by attacking, but the knife cut through him making me realize it's one of the illusions. There was no way I could recognize the real person among them and that frustrates me so much.

I fell to the ground as the knife rolled away from my side but I quickly rolled to where it was and picked it up again as it was the only thing I was still using to protect myself at the moment.

I shouldn't have taken Dera so lightly, I should have brought some more guards with me but I had thought that even if she was trying to play a prank on me, my powers and the one guard would be enough.

Turns out I was fooled really big.

They kept attacking and I kept defending but soon I got weak, my energy getting drained out. The guard was so used to being used as a tool with the relic and the way he controlled the illusions confirmed it.

It was at the moment I started thinking that the guard was someone I haven't seen much back at the camp. He isn't even among those guards that did important tasks when we infiltrated Alucard's fortress and even on her banquet day.

Fuck me for not noticing Dera switched the guards out.

Then three of the illusions came at me again, and I rolled on the floor trying to avoid them. That was the only thing I could do, I couldn't attack them. The main human also moved with them so it was hard to know who really is who.

I stood up, running away from them while trying to shift, but I couldn't even do that. My wolf wouldn't come out.

They chased me and were also forced to stop behind me when I stopped abruptly. I faced them, staring at the eight figures in front of me, not in fear but with determination to find out who the human among them is.

I closed my eyes, then opened them again, glad that they didn't make a move to attack me but were waiting for what I'd do next.

My wolf…..Nyra. Please sniff him out. Even though Nyra had also been rendered powerless at the moment, I needed her help.

It took seconds but my wolf was awake inside of me, sniffling and trying to help me out of my dire situation. Then I got it. The human among them.

I backed away slowly, wanting them to take it as me trying to escape and then attack. They all tried to attack me at the same time but I went for the one who Nyra had presumed was the human among them.

I attacked him but to my surprise, he wasn't the one. He was also one of the illusions. My eyes widened in shock as I realized my wolf had sniffled wrong. But before I could even try to back away or prevent their attacks on me, one of them sent me to the floor and then my sensitivity came back.

He was the one. The human.

It was the one beside the one Nyra had pointed to.

“I failed. Now I'm getting us in trouble” Nyra's voice was weak, but I wasn't going to blame my wolf for what had happened.

None of this is her fault, instead, I was the one who got her into trouble with reckless thinking.

My gaze went up to the real human who was now smirking at me knowing I've discovered him, but now I couldn't do anything to him since I was on the floor giddy, weak, and powerless.

He then drew out a sword I hadn't realized until now that he has. I swallowed hard, knowing I was going to die at the mere guard's hand. Even Alucard who had extraordinary powers wasn't able to kill me but this mere guard here was going to kill me.

He raised the sword up in an attempt to slash me and I closed my eyes, resigning to my fate.

I expected a groan and I heard it but it didn't come from me. I opened my eyes slowly, and I gasped at what I saw.

Kairo.

Kairo was standing in front of me with his sword in the guards stomach.
