Betrayed
Betrayed
Alea's POV
I pulled a chair out in front of Dera, taking my seat as I was ready to listen to what she had to say.
My mother was alive? So then where is she?
“This information is for the exchange of my life. I will tell you only if you agree to let me go” She said and I almost laughed.
“How sure am I that you aren't trying to fool me right now?” I asked, staring at her with disgust.
“We will see to that. You can take a hundred soldiers along with you when we go to see your mother, I won't care because right now I'm telling you nothing but the truth” She said and I couldn't be less convinced that she's being sincere at the moment.
Dera knows where my mother is. My mother, Nara, is alive.
“Where is she then?” My lips trembled but I hid my startled look away from Dera so finely.
She shouldn't see that as a weakness, as something she can use against me now or later.
“My freedom, Azura. You have to promise me that” She said and I folded my fist.
It could be a promise I'd make now and not fulfill later, but I wouldn't make that kind of promise.
“Think about it, Azura. What did I do wrong? I worked with Alucard, yes. But I only followed her orders, that's the only place where I had gone wrong” She said.
She was right.
Her offences weren't grave, and to top it all, she's family so it won't be so bad to just banish her from the city.
“Okay, Dera. You will get a banishment sentence if you show me where my mother is” I declared, without thinking but I knew that Dera won't tell me where my mother is if I don't grant her wish.
“Anytime you are ready to let me go, Azura” she said, then faced the meal they had brought her hours ago and started digging into it.
She was acting like she hadn't been able to breathe or do anything else since she hadn't had that talk with me, but now that we talked about it, she could eat.
I walked out of the cell, leaving it to the guard to lock the door and he did, then I went back to the Elder's room. He was having tea while sitting on his chair with his eyes closed.
“Guess you finished taking a tour with the prisoners?” He asked, clearly having known that I had gone to see Alucard and Dera.
“Yes Elder” I said, then took my seat in front of him.
“Dera…..” I slowed down, “I'd like to let her go” I didn't go into the details about why I would be letting her go, but I just told him.
I'd like to confirm for myself first about my mother before I let others know.
“I figured you'd do that. Whatever way you deal with her is okay by me, Alea” He said and I smiled, giving him a nod.
I stood up, walking out of the room as I told a guard to go get Dera out. I went inside my room to take some things I might need since I might not be coming back today. Then I paused, staring at the ring in my hands as I caressed it.
I might get to meet my mother was all I could think of. I smiled and slung the bag on my arms then walked out.
Dera was already outside with the guard holding her by the arm. The guard wasn’t the one who I had told to go fetch her but I didn't mind. Her hands were still tied to the back and I stared at her, watching her stare back.
“Untie her hands. I know she would know better than to run” I said and he did as I had said and Dera massaged her hands whispering a thank you to me.
We left and walked down the entrance to the bushes before we were out on the main roads again. Dera led the way with the guard closely by her side and honestly, after two hours of walking I got tired.
“Let's….. let's take a rest” I panted, sitting down on a rock as I reached for my bag for a bottle of water but before I could even open the bag, Dera stretched a bottle of water to me.
I looked up from the bottle to her face, squinting my gaze with uncertainty.
“Take it. Elder Darin packed some necessities for me earlier” she said and I sighed before taking the bottle of water from her, gulping every single drop in it.
We rested for a few more minutes before we continued the journey.
“Are we almost there?” I asked when it was almost going to an hour again and then Dera stopped abruptly turning to me.
The look on her face was different from the look of the caring apologetic sister that handed water to me earlier.
“You are such a fool, Alea” She said, and then I knew that she was ready to rebel.
She tried moving close and I tried to use my wind power to stop her but nothing came, I couldn't use the power.
Then she chuckled.
“The water you drank will keep you from being able to use your powers for hours, Azura” she said and my eyes widened. She tricked me, she fucking tricked me.
“My mother?” I asked, voice slow and trembling.
“She can't possibly be alive right? It's been more than twenty years and you think she would be alive?” She laughed again, before pushing me on the chest.
I fell to the ground, knowing she used all the power from her core to attack me.
“Wise up, will you?” She laughed again, finding pleasure in my powerless situation.
I was weak, feeling like everything was fading. She had truly drugged me. Cunning bitch.
But still, I have a guard with me to defend me.
“Grab her” I told the guard, but he didn't flinch, didn't move.
“Finish her up while I'm gone. She might be weak, but she can still put up a good fight without any powers” Dera said to the guard and then I realized that he's with her.
Even the guard is a betrayal.
Dera summoned some of her strengths and sprinkled something on the guy and the next thing, I watched her run away.
Then my gaze darted back to the guy who was now two, no three. No! There were a lot of him wanting to kill me.
