Chapter 81 Keep Her Out Of The Way!
Chapter Eighty-Two
Aria walked into the company, accompanied by her assistant, Debra.
Debra had a sour expression on her face as she followed after Aria. She was bummed with the job that was placed on her.
Being an assistant to this new daughter in law of the Graves family.
If this woman was anything like that Monica Hanks, then Debra knew she was in one hell of a terrible ride.
“Horrible women who only marry up so they can get everything given to them on a platter of gold.” She muttered under her breath as she led Aria, “Only God knows where this one crawled out from before her status was elevated by marrying into the Graves family.”
Soon, they got to the office assigned to Aria.
To her surprise, Debra led her straight to her own office, without introducing her to any of her colleagues or team members.
Aria also noticed that her office was located quite far from where was supposed to be the marketing team’s department.
“This…is my office?” She asked the young woman before her, her tone as cool as ice.
The office was a small one, with a single desk and chair. There was a black sofa sitting in the middle of the sitting room, looking as though it was dropped there by accident.
The blinds on the windows were old and Aria could have sworn she felt and saw the lightbulbs twitch while they were in that office.
She gave Debra a curious look, “Are you sure THIS is really the office that was given to me?” She cocked her head to the side as she regarded the assistant, “You might want to think carefully before you answer that. Because there is no way I would be given an office like this, considering who I am.”
“Yes ma’am,” Debra answered, giving Aria a fake, bright smile, “we ensured we got everything that will make you comfortable.”
Aria scoffed and laughed silently, walking round to the desk. She trailed a finger around the chipped edge of the desk and smirked.
Debra watched her with a slight sense of smugness and could not resist mocking her a bit.
“Why? Ma’am, you don’t think it’s something you’d like? Is there anything else you need?”
“Yes.” Aria uttered, giving her a cool gaze, “the real location of my office and the employees I’ll be working with.”
“Ahh…” Debra hesitated, her smile faltering as she, gritted her teeth surreptitiously, “I don’t know anything about that, ma’am.”
“You don’t?” Aria scoffed.
She’d definitely noticed Debra’s demeanor towards her. It was not any different from that of the front desk lady.
“I’m just following orders.” Debra said, her voice cool and detached as well, but in an haughty manner.
She had never expected Aria to question her regarding the choice of office at all.
She thought it was laughable that Aria was trying to be all cool and perceptive.
“You’re just here to watch us while we all work our asses off, and then mock us because you married up, so why the attitude?” She thought in disdain which was carefully concealed in her expressions.
That morning, she’d been assigned to Aria and had received specific instructions from the Director himself, Director Nathan.
He told her Lucian Graves wife will be coming into office, and while it’s okay to treat her well, it’s imperative that everyone stay out of her way.
Nathan had implied that Aria was only there to have fun, and see what the work life was all about.
“She grew up in the countryside, raised with pigs.” The Director had uttered in a serious tone that morning, “I think she will find that corporate life is much more different from the farm life, but that doesn’t mean she should hinder our work, right? Just keep her out of the way, will you? Hopefully she gets bored and stays out of our way willingly.”
Debra had been pissed as hell when she learned of this new development. She had also realized that Nathan had informed her of this new role as soon as Aria was already in the company.
When she’d rushed downstairs to greet Aria, she’d been very surprised with the way Aria looked.
She’d looked like the most formidable, and classiest boss that she’d ever had. Her aura screamed power and she was also very beautiful.
Debra knew she had almost allowed herself to be intimidated, until she reminded herself that Aria was just a nepotism benefiting bitch, who was there to hinder their work and make their lives here.
Just like Monica Hank.
She had gotten right back to her senses after that and had decided she would not get swayed again.
She would do all that Director Nathan had asked, and she hoped Aria got irritated faster and then stop coming to the office faster.
After a moment of silence, she clasped her hands together , “Well then, if there’s nothing more to say, I will be taking my leave,” she was already walking out the door, throwing instructions over her shoulder, “If you need anything else, let me know.”
“Yes.” Aria said as she sat behind her desk, the chair creaking beneath her weight, “I need a report of every project which the marketing team is in charge of currently and everything about their progress. And for fuck’s sake, get me a freaking desktop!”
Debra stood by the door, her mouth hanging open in surprise at the way Aria had just spoken to her.
Was this not the woman whom had been called a country bumpkin? Everyone knew Lucian had married a woman out of his league. But how come she was this well spoken and…
“No, she’s just trying to show off!” Debra uttered, narrowing her eyes into slits at Aria, “She would know absolutely nothing to do with that reports and then the company would be damned.”
She shook her head slightly and gazed directly at Aria, “I’m sorry ma’am, I don’t think i will be doing that for you.”
