Chapter 58 A Safe Measure
Chapter Fifty-Nine
George and Aria stared at each other in alarm, and within a split second, they were out of the room, marching towards where the noise had been coming from.
“Stop it, Mr Graves! Why are you doing this to me?! Please don’t do this to me!”
Mr Graves?!
Aria increased her pace as she saw that the voices were coming out of her room. The one she was supposed to be sharing with Lucian.
She had left Lucian in there earlier.
George nearly dislocated her shoulder as he bumped hard into her trying to get into the room to see what was happening.
“What?! What is this?! What is going on here?!” He yelled, his voice tinged with authority as he took in the scene in one glance.
Tori’s clothes was torn and she was crying profusely, while Clara held her tenderly, comforting her.
Lucian sat on the bed, his expression laced with irritation and boredom.
“I said, I want you all out of here!” He growled, his blue gray eyes flashing like lightening.
“Mr Graves, what nonsense is this?! How can you disgrace my family like this?!”George yelled, accusing Lucian without thinking, “I know we men are like this and are never satisfied with one woman, but you should not have dishonored my family like this!”
Lucian scoffed in disbelief while Aria stepped forward, “Father, Stepmother, let’s all be calm for a bit, shall we?”
Clara immediately turned on her, “You shut up!” She snarled, her eyes gleaming with malicious victory. She had gotten exactly what she wanted so there was no need to continue to act nice to Aria, “This is all your fault! If you’d been able to control your monster of a husband, he would not have hurt our Tori this way!”
“Mother, you know Mr Graves had been bedridden for three years and had never had the touch of a woman,” Selena uttered, her phone still poised with the recorder on, “Even so, Aria still failed to keep him under control. Of course, he’d want nothing to do with your country bumpkin ass!”
Clara smirked, nodding in agreement, “No matter how the Graves family tries to save face by supporting you in public, there’s no denying that you can’t control your husband! Hah!” She laughed in derision, “He obviously has no affection for you!”
Aria rolled her eyes towards the heavens, her exasperation mirroring that of Lucian.
Are these idiots really serious?
“This…This is a serious offense!” George thundered, his fists clenched and his face red, “Mr Graves, you will pay dearly for this atrocity you committed right under my roof!”
“Exactly!” Clara and Selena seconded, “We are inviting the Graves family here immediately to discuss a way to resolve this! You’re not getting away from this, Lucian Graves!”
With that, they pushed their way out of the room, Tori still sobbing but Aria could see the gleam in her eyes as Clara whisked her away.
When they had all gone out and the room was silent, Aria laughed at the sheer foolishness of it all,
“Oh my god, what stupid idiots,” she muttered to herself, wiping tears of laughter from her eyes, “Why does all scheming bitches all have the same format? Trying to frame my husband so I can lose his affection? How cliche!”
“You look so happy, after using your husband,” A sarcastic voice uttered from behind her and Aria suddenly remembered Lucian was still in the room.
He was still on the bed, looking gruff and irritated.
Aria immediately turned towards him, her expression contrite, “I’m so sorry about that,” she uttered as she walked towards the bed, sitting on it as well, “Did she perhaps touch you? Should I arrange for a bathe?”
Lucian sighed, shaking his head in disagreement, “It’s fine, I’ll survive.” He uttered, the sarcasm rolling off his tongue.
Aria giggled and his eyes softened as he looked at her.
Sighing he reached out and took her hand, squeezing it gently between his, “Somehow, I’m glad you grew up away from them. At least, you were safe from their malicious ways.,” he paused, his nostrils flaring with anger at the memory of the earlier scene, “They will not get away with this, I promise you this Aria! They will never hurt you again as well.”
Aria heart thumped as Lucian said those words.
The sincerity in his words and the fierce protectiveness in his eyes…
No one had ever looked at her and said those words to her with such passion.
Well for Elara, her parents had been quite protective of her, and they told her multiple times. So she did not understand why her eyes suddenly became misty at Lucian’s words.
Could it be that…it was Aria Beaumont?
“What the hell? Am I actually experiencing her emotions?!” She thought to herself, her brows drawn in wonder, “Shit! That’s just crazy!”
It was bad enough that she was in the body of such a frail woman like Aria Beaumont, and now she also had to experience her frail emotions as well?
Aria sighed and pulled her hand from Lucian’s grasp, “Thank you so much for your support, Lucian,” she uttered, “But today’s fight is mine. Just leave it to me.”
Lucian nodded slightly, smirking at the cruel glint in her eyes.
He was almost afraid for the Beaumont family.
“I’ll be here to support whenever you need me.” He answered, reaching out to brush his lips on her forehead.
An act which sent butterflies going on a rampage in her stomach.
Her entire body tingled and her toes curled with the effect. She quickly pulled away from him and stood up from the bed.
She walked calmly towards the sitting area, and the set of sofa. She sat down on the same chair she had been sitting on when they’d come into the room earlier.
Calmly, she reached into the crevices of the chair and pulled out a tiny camera which she had set up earlier before she left for her father’s study.
She smiled as she held up the camera to the light, “Oh stepmother, you wish to screw Aria Beaumont over so badly,” she thought, “Well, too bad she’s not here. It’s just me now. It’s just Elara Vaughn.”
