Chapter 31 You Are My Cure!
Chapter Thirty-One
“Argh!”
Aria shrieked as the door was flung open with a bang.
She quickly disentangled herself from Lucian, while he shielded her with his body, blocking her from the view of the newcomers.
“Zach! What the fuck are you doing in here, man?!” Lucian yelled in rage, as he tried to cover Aria with the duvet.
Her robe had been ripped off by Lucian in their passionate kiss, and she was only in her flimsy nightgown. Her face was flushed with embarrassment and she hid behind Lucian who was steaming mad at his friend.
Zach looked stupefied.
He was lost for words and was appalled by what he’d just witnessed.
He’d quickly turned away from the sight when he had ran into the room, and realized what he was looking at.
As Lucian yelled at him, he could feel his toes curl with mortification.
“I’m so sorry, Lucian! Forgive me!” He uttered apologetically, cringing at his carelessness.
At that moment, Madam Graves came in through the open door, “Zach dear, I told you to wait for me. Why did you come up here all by yourself…”
She stopped short as she took in the sight before her.
Aria cowering behind Lucian, while trying to cover herself. Her face was flushed and her cheeks were tinged with embarrassment
Lucian was sitting on the bed looking furious, but there was the unmistakable flush to his skin that stemmed from passionate activity.
Then, there was Zach biting his lips in regret, looking as if he should shoot himself in the head.
She immediately guessed what had happened.
This idiot Zach must have stumbled on something and ruined a magical moment between her son and daughter-in-law.
“You!…” she uttered as she slapped the back of Zach’s head hard, “I’m sure you barged in without knocking! How many times will I tell you to learn some manners?!”
As she spoke, she pulled his ears and Zach squealed from the pain, “I’m sorry, mom. Lucian I…argh…I’m so sorry! I was just so excited that you’re awake. Argh!” He tried smile at Madam Graves while trying to pry her hand off his ears at the same time.
“Mom, I’m so sorry,” he pleaded, trying his best to look as forlorn as possible, “Just let me go this one time! You know I’m your lovely son’s only best friend. If I die from your beating, Lucian will be lonely for the rest of his life.”
“Oh my God, Zach!” Lucian groaned in frustration, “Get out of here, man. Mother, please take him out!”
“You unfilial friend! And I was only looking out for you! Argh!” Zach uttered defiantly, then yelled as Madam Graves pulled on his ear harder.
“You rascal! Why would my son be lonely when he has our miracle worker with him?” She started pulling him to the door gently, “Come out here, you rascal!”
“Ah! Ah! Mom, wait!” Zach called out as he was being dragged out.
Before he went through the door, however, his eyes met with that of Lucian and he gave him a mischievous wink.
Lucian gritted his teeth at him as if to say, “I will kill you.”
Madam Graves closed the door, saying, “Don’t worry, Lucian. Aria. I will deal with this rascal properly. You guys can continue.”
“Mother!” Lucian groaned once more in frustration.
At that, Madam Graves quickly closed the door, then she and Zach ran off to the living room, giggling like teenagers.
When they left, silence fell on the room once more.
Lucian was mortified at his family’s behavior. He loved them but sometimes he felt like strangling them, especially Zach.
He turned to look at Aria.
“Hey, are you okay?” He asked softly as he pulled her out from behind him gently.
Aria nodded, her chin down as she was still feeling quite shy. Not just from the interruption, but from the way Lucian was looking at her and speaking to her.
He placed his large palm on her cheek, speaking soothingly, “I’m sorry about all that. Zach’s an idiot sometimes but he really means well. As for Mother…”
He sighed tiredly and his exasperated expression made Aria laugh.
“I’m guessing she’s quite an handful too.” She said softly, “That’s okay. I’m fine with that.”
Lucian smiled, as he drew her slowly into his embrace.
Aria chuckled as she rested her head on his shoulder, happiness bubbling within her, “So…you aren’t allergic to women anymore?” She asked playfully,
“Well, I guess you’re my cure,” Lucian uttered gruffly, tightening his hands around her
Aria laughed at that statement.
She felt immeasurably happy at that moment, as her fingers gently stroke Lucian’s long hair.
She realized this was going to be a habit of hers, stroking his silky locks and that thought made her giggle.
Her laughter like the sound of tinkling bells, and Lucian wanted to listen to it all day.
He wanted to drown in it.
He swallowed hard and hugged her even more tighter.
He marveled at the level of warmth and desire flooding his heart just by holding this woman in his arms.
His heart was beating crazily at what had just happened between him and this woman in his arms, but he was not apologizing for it.
To Lucian, even if time were reversed, he would still do the same thing again.
True, he had been steering clear from any other woman other than Elara Vaughn since he was a teenager.
None of them just held the same appeal as Elara had since he’d met her.
None of them had been as exquisite as her, as awesome as her and as powerful as her.
Well, that was until Aria came into his life.
Although not as powerful as Elara, she held her own charm and grit and her striking green eyes held secrets he desperately wished to unveil.
He’d never felt so connected with anybody else in his life. Even their body portions matched perfectly well.
Although he knew nothing much of the woman before him, Lucian was sure he was content with what he knew now.
