Chapter 104 Just Like That Night!
Chapter One Hundred And Three
Vera’s eyes widened with horror as did Kurt when they saw the video.
Kurt’s hands clenched into fists by his side as Vera lunged from the phone in Aria’s hand but then she moved it quickly away.
“Hand it over!” She screamed at Aria.
“Vera! Stop!” Kurt hissed fiercely at her as he pulled her back away from Aria.
That was when Vera realized that she’d reacted wrongly and had behaved crazily. She swallowed hard, looking around her, her eyes widening at the shock and distaste on the faces of everyone standing around.
“Is this how she really is?”
“God, what a shame! She’s so different now! What on earth is wrong with her?”
“When Elara was alive, I’m sure she must have kept her in check. She’s obviously misbehaving now because Elara is gone, what a shame!”
Vera was shaking now from indignation, not just from fear of being cancelled but also due to what the crowd was saying.
Up until this point, they still kept bringing up Elara in front of her.
Elara kept her in check?!
What a load of bullshit!
Kurt pulled her close to himself , his jaw tight with the muscles all bunched up in fury.
“Get out of here and go clean yourself up!” He whispered fiercely in her ears, “You’ve embarrassed me enough today! Don’t come back until you’ve reflected on your attitude today!”
“You!…” Vera started, her chest heaving as she was breathing hard. She had a whole lot of things to say to Kurt, Aria and to every other goddamn person in the room but she could not get the words out.
They remained stuck in her throat, which was extremely painful due to her fighting back tears.
Also, her dress was sticking badly to her skin and if she stayed there any longer, her body was going to be on display on the internet.
Without another word, she turned on her heels and hurried out of the hall, holding back her tears of fury.
Selena watched her go in distress, and after a heartbeat, she slinked out after her, to see if Vera needed help.
Aria watched them go, then scoffed in disdain. Selena was probably sticking to Vera because she thought they both had a common enemy.
Her.
“Continue misbehaving, Selena.” She uttered, “It will become your undoing, soon.”
The crowd soon resumed their enjoyment of the night, totally dismissing what had happened earlier.
Aria tried to return to her seat but then she was blocked by Kurt.
“I’m so sorry for what happened tonight, Aria,” he uttered in the most apologetic tone, then sighed wistfully, “I was deceived by my partner’s tears and did not even think to trust you. Please forgive me.”
Ari gave him a once over, her eyes as cold as the arctic. Without a word, she turned to go once again but to her annoyance, Kurt stepped before her once more and grabbed a hold of her arm gently.
As quick as lightning, Zach moved and pulled his hand back, “Get your paws off!”
Kurt winced as Zach pulled him away from Aria. He stood before her, laughing lightly as he rubbed the spot where Zach had grabbed.
“Ouch!” He said, while laughing softly, “Relax man, I was only asking for her forgiveness.”
Zach and Aria just stared at him with disgust.
“You can beg for forgiveness without touching her!” Zach informed him in a scathing tone.
Kurt’s smile faded.
He thought Zach was being very rude. Aria was not even his woman, nor was he a bodyguard or something.
What was even his problem?
He looked to Aria to see if she would stop him but Aria only nodded slightly in agreement with what Zach had said, raising her chin to give him a very haughty look.
He flashed a smile once more, trying his best to curb his anger, “Well then, I’m sorry. I’ll keep that in mind when next I speak to her,” he gave Aria an hopeful look, “You will give me a chance to apologize properly, right?”
“No.” Aria said simply in a cold tone, then turned to Zach, “Let’s go.”
Kurt watched them walk off, his smile fading quickly.
“What a royal bitch!” He muttered under his breath as he yanked at his tie with fury. He stopped a waiter who was passing by and grabbed a glass of wine off their tray, downing it in one go.
The night was a whole, hot mess and it was all that Aria Beaumont’s fault. He could not believe what happened with Vera as well.
How could she think of blowing off her top like that tonight?
Thank God, the shareholders of Vaughn Empire had already left by the time that had happened. If not, then he would have been really doomed.
At the thought of the shareholders, he felt distaste and anger rising up in him. He had prepared so much for them this night. He was sure he would be able to get their approval tonight when he acquired Nexus.
That way, he would have been able to own the patent and come out fully as the owner. Now that the company belonged to the Graves Empire, he was scared of what would happen when it’s discovered he’d stolen their patent.
That Aria Beaumont was definitely not going to let things lying down.
Kurt was very sure that Aria already knew as well, judging from the way she looked at him with those striking green and very…cold eyes.
He knew she’d been out for his blood ever since he’d seen her in that shopping mall the week before.
Those green eyes had stared at him with such hatred and he could not help but think it reminded him of … Elara.
But Elara had never looked at him with hatred. Her blue eyes had always been filled with love and warmth whenever she stared at him.
But as he thought about it, his mind went back to that night.
The night when he’d put a bullet through her skull.
The death stare which she had given him then, was exactly the same as the one Aria was giving him now.
